Nobody on a hospital trolly, homelessness ended, no refugees.. space on the Dart and Luas at rush hour.. even the M50 is moving.. Brown Thomas shut.. absolutely no sight or sound of the ‘left wing’ parties.. SF in total disarray… if only Leo had waited a few weeks to call the election..

      1. Cian

No no you have it all wrong:

SF get the largest 1st preference vote. Within 6 weeks: Nobody on a hospital trolley, homelessness ended, no refugees.. space on the Dart and Luas at rush hour.. even the M50 is moving.. Brown Thomas shut..

        Up the ‘RA!!

          No no no……
FG ‘ We want to be in, and are going into opposition’
Oh Wait! Hot of the press this morning…..
‘We have just voted to go into Government with FF – Brexit, Covid-19, Eurovision, landlords, Dinny – for the good of the boys’
‘We have Clowncannon back – tune into Spin FG’

Great! The morphing has begun. Now we will have clear opposition in the Dail. Maybe even a revolt in FF (the ‘Republican Party’)
I can see it now – FFG local cumann’s sharing the pub speakeasy and time. ROFL

          Did I mention….ROFL.

Indo: ‘Fear schools won’t reopen until May’.

Those fears are of parents everywhere going mad with their little terrors.

Surely we should be more fearful of the surge that awaits out health system and possible loved ones??

Whatever actions need to stay in place / be introduced to slow down the disease, we need to be supportive of them, not fearful.

The chances are the Irish Mammys will find a vaccine before anyone else

Especially since -I reckon anyway, only leaving certs will be brought back this side of September

It might make parents realise some of what teachers have to deal with on a daily basis… No Harm.

A newfound respect for my kid’s teacher. Takes a very special kind of energy and commitment to be a teacher.

      1. Janet, I ate my avatar

in France if your child has no manners they are sent home from school, bringing up two boys in 42m2, you make sure they are obedient, helpful and don’t treat the gaff like a junglegym, when you go out again it’s in small parks or the brasserie and again they need to respect others space and noise levels, maybe that’s what makes the difference, much as I love lots of individual children here, the difference is staggering on the answering back alone and general wildness, I genuinely don’t know why some of my mates make such a rod for their own backs, the upside is the kids are more confident and out going…small doses only though ;)

        1. Janet, I ate my avatar

I know I am wildly generalizing, and it’s not all kids, but that’s my experience, and definitely the brat downstairs … isolation to the backdrop of tantrums may be tempering my mood

        2. TT

Brat in park cycled into me in the park yesterday. Mama just laughed and when I told the kid that he should refrain from cycling into others, as he could injure them, Mama told me that it wasn’t my place to reprimand her kid. I calmly told her that someone clearly had to . Agree with Janet. French kids are just so polite and refined. It’s all me , myself and MY Child ( not all) but with quite a few in Ireland.

I doubt teachers have noticed much difference in the schools being closed this week.
They’re on holiday for most of the year anyway.
      Lazy sods.

Day #5 and still no call from HSE to test

either were not doing any or it’s being barely dripfed, dunno but I smell a rat. test…I’ve been reading online that some are now waiting 7 days…wtf is going on???

at home my mam had something weird happen overnight – we got her an Apple Watch for Xmas and the heart rate monitor started tripping claiming 38bpm. the watch is fine and she knows how to use it. She seems ok but it’s still low now, GP has been called and we’re an inch from calling 999

    1. Jake38

“..that some are now waiting 7 days…wtf is going on???”….

A worldwide pandemic is going on.

      1. 01101101 01100011

this argument is for a different time for me now but are we fupping testing people or aren’t we?? if we’re not then I can’t see how we beat this, we just go in circles, no??

      2. GiggidyGoo

Well considering a radio doctor can get a test and the results in what, three days?. Something up alright.

    2. Newname

      Hello numbers.
(Is it ok if I call you numbers?)
In Italy we have been told that the labs can’t keep up with testing, so if it looks like you can recover by yourself you won’t get a test.
Only if they think you need to go to hospital do they do the test. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is the same story in ireland, though I believe it is easier for people to accept it if they are told the reason for no test is you look like you will be fine. I can see how stressful it would be to be just waiting without being told anything though.
For the heart rate, can she check her own pulse? My Fitbit sometimes goes a bit crazy if I have it very loose on my wrist, if it is only the watch I wouldn’t worry

          1. millie vanilly strikes again

I googled it because I’m a nosy hoor.

Hope you and yours are keeping well, 0110, including your mam. It’s very frustrating when you’re being told one thing (and wondering, is it all just optics again, no doubt) and the reality is a very different affair. It makes it especially difficult to keep anxiety at bay. Glad you’ve been keeping us all updated.

          2. 01101101 01100011

            UPDATE:
so GP called an ambulance, there was a couple of calls directly to my mam and ambulance arrives. interestingly we were told to open the gate and leave the hazards on my da’s car flashing away I assume to be discrete…but comedy style they arrived blues and twos. the ambulance fella interviewed her from the gate, fetched his kit and came into the house up to her room all geared up (not hazmat but may as well have been) everyone in the house a bit freaked out. anyway he ran some tests and he found an “irregularity” and has just taken her in there now. we weren’t even allowed to give her a hug, nothing, just made sure her phone was charged and had some basics. I don’t think I’ve ever felt like this before, not nice, completely numb tbh. we’re all in the house now just looking at each other. we were told to stay put, not to follow them in
            wtf :(

          3. V

            Look ‘it 00mc
She is in the best hands (sorry) now

So the only job you have to take charge of now is to take care of yourself and everyone else in the gaff

  4. 01101101 01100011

sorry should have clarified – yes of course we’ve done the basics not just relying on watch. I’ll update later.

  5. Charger Salmons

I’m ashamed to admit I’ve been stockpiling.
Gordon’s gin and Fevertree tonic mainly.
With a couple of cases of vino to top up the rack.
Time to put my feet up and watch the apocalypse arrive on telly.

    1. Cú Chulainn

Gordon’s Gin and fever-tree.. I don’t know Charger.. yes it’s the classic English Tory drink, but, I somehow expected mór of you…

    2. bisted

…credit where it’s due but the tans always did nice gin…Beefeater andSchweppes man myself but partial to the Scottish Hendricks and fevertree if someone else is buying…

    3. Charger Salmons

This afternoon I shall be mostly drinking it with Star Anise.
      Cucumber is so arriviste.

  6. Janet, I ate my avatar

my heart really goes out to you, she’s in the best hands now and will get the care she needs, much better than waiting at home.

  7. 01101101 01100011

thanks Janet + everyone for the well wishes

I hope ye don’t mind me posting…if nothing else I wondered if it might give a little insight into the routine should it arrive with you..and it helps me somehow

we’ve copped on a wee bit now. call me irresponsible but I’m going out for a bike ride, fpp this.

    1. Janet, I ate my avatar

I think a bike ride should be fine, it’s isolated, clear the head and stay in touch

    2. Newname

Not at all! Sure you’re doing no harm, and in a time like this if posting helps you with the nerves you should go for it. And outdoor exercise while keeping distance is totally permitted.
Really hope you and yours get through this ok
