Police Academy: Their First Assignment

at

This morning/afternoon

Templemore, County Tipperary.

Above from left: Taoiseach Leo Varaadkar, Minister for Justice and Equality Charlie Flanagan and Garda Commissioner Drew Harris at inspecting the 319 new Gardaí (whose graduation has been brought forward to help deal with coronavirus) at today’s Attestation Ceremony at the Garda Training College.

This calls for a night in Coppers.

Oh.

When are Goo, Fart and Mustard going to on to comment on this post. Oh, they can’t all sf people have been stood down. Where are Mary Lou and Michelle O’Neill?

One of the unexpected side-effects of C19 is that ML isn’t on the airwaves all the time giving out anymore.

.. although they did have to wheel Eoghan Murphy out yesterday (from which ever cave they’ve been hiding him in) to say his piece about the tenancy arrangements. 28% of renters are 63% more unemployed it seems

Some of these people have only 5 weeks training. They are now Gardai with powers beyond what is considered acceptable for trained police to have during normal times. This is a little bit worrying. Also I hope they will be completing their training after this is over.

“Some of these people have only 5 weeks training. ”

really? have you any evidence for this?

Yes. it was reported on RTE News as such, although I have no issue or worry with them going to work in this great time of need. Also there training is to continue post Covid.

These new recruits will be having to deal with the worst scum that emerges when a crises happens
The men and women deserve the respect they deserve as they enforce the law

okay thanks. RTE also says “Garda Headquarters said the most recent intake will work only in the stations.”

That’s comical. The reason why Mary Lou and Meehall are so silent, so absent is they know the nightmare that will descent on our land in the coming weeks will be traumatic and historical. They want their name’s and their party’s names out of it as best they can. That’s beyond cynical.

If they wanted to do something, they could. Form a government and deal with things their way. But no. They will cowardly allow Leo and his caretaker govt run themselves into the ground.

I am not not have ever been a FG voter but they are carrying themselves very very well. And I think the approach SFF (see what I did there?) Have taken will bite them hard on then Jacksie.

Its not ideal, but I mean, if I was in a situation where I needed Garda assistance I think I’d rather a Gardai with 5 weeks training be there than nobody show up to help me.

Huge numbers of them are likely to get corona given their frontline service, they’re going to need all the staff they can get. They should probably be appealing for recently retired Gardai to come back too if anything.

maybe they will break up the throngs of teenagers hanging out who are kind of defeating the purpose…
