Following queries, The Oireachtas have confirmed that the software used to display the results of today’s Seanad election count was developed in 1993 and has “worked perfectly” in every election since then, adding that it also “works on Windows 10”

    Why would the Oireachtas spend loads of money to develop a software that adds some numbers together and displays the result?

    We should be glad that they are displaying some fiscal rectitude.

      Agree with you on the pricve but not on principle. If the software they’re using to count votes is not Open Source we could all be getting screwed.

    Nothing that a page in a 1985 version of Microsoft excel couldn’t do. That software must have cost a fortune
