    From 24th March.

Director at the National Virus Reference Centre, Dr Cillian de Gascun, said that by next week, they could analyse 3,000 tests per day.
He added: “Hopefully over the next few weeks we can round these figures up.
“We are working on samples that were taken on Sunday.
“There was a 10-12 hour turn around time last week – this has jumped to 26 hours.”

Far from ideal. I would think that due to the extremely rapid upscaling of testing that some tests had slipped through the cracks. Hopefully those cracks have been filled in…

they should have increased the benchmark of 1 symptom for a test to two sooner, keep the hypochondriacs and attention seekers away

Are these poor unfortunates part of the coronavirus death toll or are they hidden under the historical death toll to be uncovered at great expense by a future inquiry?

The other side of that coin is that everyone who tests positive for COVID 19 is registered as death by- when there may underlying issues which were the actual cause.
