Stop posting really good songs!
Oh, wait! Don’t :)
This likely won’t win, but what the hey!. I spent most of the 90s in places without tv, and came home to a huge revolution. So I am going to offer one of those that made and still makes me smile. Anything with a ceili break, and a great nose wiggle gets my vote for fun :-) Nah nah nah ho!
C’est la vie!

Okay, a total aside, but what the hey! I mentioned that I was not home in the 90s a lot. But one artist I came across was Brenda Fassie, and this is possibly the only song I will get up and dance to. I hope you all enjoy:

One of my favourite videos and nothing really happens in it except absolute gorgeousness…
Morrissey – My Love Life
https://youtu.be/WiUZYLm3CqA
Also… hello Mildred :)
“I know you love one person so
Why don’t you love two?”
I never really liked Morrissey, but I must admit this is one of his best!
C’est parfait – mais, I have an equally non-winnable entry, maybe it’s because it was ’78 – I was being driven by mom and dad to meet the principal of my new Grammar School during the summer holidays – can’t a kid catch a break? Mom made me wear my best outfit – which was my Confirmation outfit. (Cardinal O’Fiáich did my confirmation in Ardboe, Co. Tyrone – he was up for Pope at one stage, really nice guy). On the car journey to the meeting, on the (Jesus – I do tend to witter on a tad – YES) radio was this – I asked Dad if he could he turn it up – No, was the reply – the song/video was;

Trever Francis track suits from a mush in Shepherds Bush..

Ta, great track, hard to believe its 1978, there are some English lines in there too, “I am the King of the Dee-von (Divan).
It reached #4 in Ireland. Apparently the producer, Lou Deprijck, is the vocalist and not the lad in the video (Wikipedia).
Reading the English translation to the lyrics here, it’s like something from the Rubberbandits or something they could cover?
I saw this video a while back where Deprijck, now living a life of debauchery out in Thailand, tells his story. It’s part of a Dutch series “The Story Behind the Song” – plenty of interesting ones on youtube. He had to fight a court case 30 years later to prove it was him singing on the track.

The 90s didn’t exist without the Stone Roses. It’s either that or this, step on by the Happy Mondays

Lads, any explanation as to why my two posts are in moderation? WHAT HAVE I DONE NOW? IS IT BECAUSE I’M SHOUTING AGAIN?
That’s fine. My feelings are not in any way hurt.
You’ve been naughty again haven’t you, Millie? And naughty girls must be spanked..
Was not a big fan of most of his stuff back in the day but one Saturday during the 90s, I was building some flat pack furniture we got from MFI – remember them?! – and this song came on the radio.
Faith by George Michael.
A great song, great tune and as it transpired, a great video.
https://youtu.be/6Cs3Pvmmv0E
HA, great minds etc!
Faith is 80’s though, we danced to it at our Debs ;)
D’oh. My bad. Should’ve checked. Disqualified!
George Michael – Outside
https://youtu.be/gwZAYdHcDtU
I had an actual awakening watching that video as a teenager, George Michael was a genius. He turned around the shaming into a glorious song and a seedy, pulsatingly sexy video
Smashing Pumpkins – Tonight Tonight
https://youtu.be/NOG3eus4ZSo
Great video and a great album.
Preferred the nostalgia inducing 1979 though
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aeETEoNfOg
Justified and Ancient – KLF featuring Tammy Wynette
Because it’s the best song that ever came out of the 90s and there were a lot of good ones.
https://youtu.be/rliIvMwvHqE
Vegas – Walk into the wind
https://youtu.be/6znRtWl_B4w
Terry Hall, Dave Stewart and Siobhan Fahey –
What more could anyone want? :)
it has to be Weezer’s Buddy Holly video …directed by Spike Jonze…Happy Days….Da Fonze…included on the Windows 95 CD-ROM …pure 90’s bliss!
Given my disqualification, I vote for this. If there’s a vote! Great song. Amazing album. And what a clever video. First ever ‘deep fake’?!
In the Garage from the Blue Album pretty much was my teenage years!
I think I’ll leave my +1 here.
Can’t think of a more interesting question? Come on, FFS.
You lot are all wrong. It’s Future sound of London’s Cascade. 3D graphics and 808s. MTV chillout zone after 12am. Nothing comes close.

Do the evolution by pearl jam was and still is a mind blowingly good video, it also kind of scared me as I was 12 when I first saw it.
Fun Lovin’ Criminals – Scooby Snacks
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWOFtixfies
(happened, too, to be the video that inspired me to buy a pair of two-tone oxfords – hard to believe it now, i know, but i used to be an pretentious, big-headed twat)
If it helps, I once owned a pair of tartan jeans.
still all the rage in puerto rico – or around 3 years ago anyway
seems unfair to mention the obvious:
Beastie Boys – Sabotage
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__zoCMZVN9w
also, like above, directed by spike jonze in a sideways tribute to starsky & hutch and others of that 70s genre
main thing though is how song and video mesh beautifully, one carrying the other but a constant jar between them, like every perfect relationship
The video for Wicked Game by Chris Isaak evokes many the memory of an Irish beach holiday in the ‘90’s

I’m not using the car due to social distancing, if I win I swear I’ll stay 2 metres from the prize.
How about instead of Nick’s Vouchers we have Vouchers for Heroes and the selected winner means 10 vouchers are sent on their behalf to frontline COVID19 staff every week? I am sure they can use them somewhere…. Seems a lot more helpful ….
Oh Lads, it has to be Groove is in the Heart….. no contest..

And I checked.. it was 1990.
Spike Jonze directed a few, but I reckon this is the best.
Beastie Boys – Sabotage
https://youtu.be/z5rRZdiu1UE
The Prodigy – Smack My Bitch Up
Was such an event, remember staying up for its premiere. The reveal/twist was phenomenal the first time, as were the sexy bits! Was this or Eurotrash for kicks.

‘Little Fluffy Clouds’ by The Orb, 1990 is a very memorable one for me… and what a track to start a decade! :)
So many late nights, early mornings… I had that album on cd, vinyl and VHS :0)
https://youtu.be/2Ng9Pf_p7Fw
Other great videos… as opposed to my own most memorable…
Madonna’s Vogue was standout…
https://youtu.be/GuJQSAiODqI
Depeche Mode’s Enjoy The Silence… I never did understand the video, in fairness :)
https://youtu.be/aGSKrC7dGcY
Smeels Like Teen Spirit, Nirvana, 1991… that slow mo low budget grunge look was second to none :)
https://youtu.be/hTWKbfoikeg
Surely the most ’90s video of the 1990s? Worth it for Steven’s drumming on the bed!
The Flaming Lips – Bad Days
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YQh_7LYg-g
Jesus, I’d forgotten how much I hate the flaming lips…
Really enjoyed the Video for In Bloom by Nirvana..great cut scenes of Beatlemania teenage girls with footage of the band hamming it up
Brilliant, and my fave Nirvana song
Ye, easily one of the greatest music vid’s.. One of their best and an hilarious classic…
– Thanks for the reminder.

In the early nineties Guns N Roses were still huge after massive success with Appetite for Destruction and as such there was a big budget available for music videos. “You could be mine” was tied in with Terminator 2 and had 2 good videos made, one where the T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is created at the start of the video and is sent to destroy Guns N Roses at a gig. The other was more like a movie trailer with many scenes from the film, personally I preferred the later. I was then reminded of November Rain which also benefited from a large budget. More power ballad than rock classic it has stood the test of time with the video greatly complimenting the lyrics and the story. Like many a GNR song it’s carried by, and endures because of, sublime guitar playing from Slash.
Guns ‘N’ Roses -November Rain
“I know it’s hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn’t time be out to charm you”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SbUC-UaAxE
Ye, thanks for the reminder.. haha.. Any new G N’ R video was practically a worlwide event…
At that time they were on top of it all and had even long since jumped the shark of their own success but were still hilariously untouchable…
Practically eating themselves and the industry in that video… haha..
Went to see them in Slane last time out… still awesome… great laugh.
-Although my head is still a bit fuzzy from the whole expedition..
…Great rendition of Chris Cornell (r.i.p)

Peter Gabriel – Steam
https://youtu.be/Qt87bLX7m_o
From the same director as Sledgehammer, remember this video more than most of the grunge stuff I was into at the time.
I know I’m late to the party, but Enigma ‘Return To Innocence’ is beautiful, enigmatic and so sensual – as is all their music:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rk_sAHh9s08
‘Let Forever Be’ – The Chemical Brothers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5FyfQDO5g0
Fatboy Slim – Right Here, Right Now. A Classic.
It’s not the greatest copy.. but fantasia should win.. because the world was never the same again.. https://youtu.be/Hnqne5a2Lz0
And then https://youtu.be/TjIPzyVlK60 because chill out was discovered a day later..
I couldn’t decide between Foo Fighters Big Me https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pLdJQFTnZfA
And Blur’s Coffee and TV https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6oqXVx3sBOk
So here’s both!
The 90’s was undoubtably the golden age of the music video and we were spoiled for choice.
Although it’s arguable that there were better artists, singers, bands, directors, ideas, concepts and music videos before i.e Peter Gabriel, M.A.R.R.S or Spike Jonze etc etc.etc etc…
Nothing comes anywhere close to the true artistic supernova genius and the closest example of perfect unification of the form by Michel Gondry and Bjork in this classic [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZEWtivQTTg ] & you could easily argue they’ve done even better collaborations before and after….
As a lifelong fan of cinema, the wonderous psychadelic empathy machine of the human condition that it is… I can remember vividly the first time I experienced listening and watching this video unfold before my eyes as it grabbed my attention, I seized up, frozen in position with utter wonder and amazement…
Cinema itself had been swallowed up, digested and spat back out in a brand new, concise, byte-sized form… It was a window into the past and at the same time, a future I couldn’t imagine would eventually prove itself to exist…
I’ve seen too many films than is healthy and for me It’s the only true successor to Citizen Kane… so far anyway…
– & All done and dusted In a little more than five minutes…
Still, to this day, it’s an endless wonder and the height of what the music video can be, even beyond all the usual often repeated known concepts of art or genius…
Watch it and enjoy… then watch it again and afterwards, look up all their other collaborations together, with other artists and their other individual work too.. – If you’ve never seen or heard any of their work before you’re in for a real once in a lifetime treat…
– Not intending to be presumptious but If I win please donate / hand the cash to the nearest houseless person or charity. Thanks.

Smacks of Big Brother 2000, Craig Phillips ;)
It was actually smacking more of a hangover…
..but np, nasty Nick!
Even after getting help remembering who C.Philips was it’s gone mostly over my head.
– I’m assuming he was seeming/being presumtuous too.. hehe..
