Clare And Present Danger

This afternoon.

A poster headlined “Kilkee Residents Health Defence” is circulating on social media and purporting to have been place on a wall in Kilkee, Co Clare.

The Limerick Leader reports:

“…a local councillor is asking people who may have had the poster delivered in their letterbox to alert the gardai as it is “a crime scene”. “I have yet to find someone who has a physical copy of it. We’ve gone viral with an image,” said Fianna Fail councillor Cillian Murphy, a resident of Kilkee.

Poster warning people to ‘f*** off out of Kilkee’ is ‘action of idiotic and attention seeking individuals’ (Áine Fitzgerald, Limerick Leader)

Holiday home owners in Kilkee should take decisive action and burn down locals houses in a preemptive strike.
    Sadly I see no alternative

The same people who welcome tourist spend any other time of the year. My first thought that they were shinners, but then realised no, they have all gone into hiding. Go on, attack me.

Percy French apparently, even wrote a song about trying to get the there… A popular ditty in it’s day.

They’ll have nooo problem taking their cash when this is all over mind. This exodus must be people who are still working because, if I had a holiday home somewhere nice, I’d have hightailed it over there the day after the schools shut.

So they should be grateful that these people are spreading the virus as well as their money? If you travelled to your summer home this weekend, not only do I hope you get fined, I hope you get Covid19 too. You are a dangerous, selfish barsteward. Fork you.

If you’re allowed to go to the shops up from your gaff in Dublin 2 what’s the problem doing it in Wexford?

  4. MaryLou's ArmaLite

Similar notices appearing in Roundstone. Locals be getting ornery with the jackiens.

Bleedin’ Jackeens. Think they own the place when then decide to honour us with a visit. They look forward to coming down to Courtown, Rosslare, Blackwater, Curracloe, to reveal the new fangled things that are ‘hot’ in Dublin, to reveal that they can’t sing etc. Sure the locals love ‘em (or so they think).
Well, the locals know which holiday homes are owned by whom, and woe betide any Jackeens that think the locals are prepared to accept their lives put in danger for no reason.
