Great to see a pic by Elinor Wiltshire out for an airing.
One of the forgotten great irish artists. Totally underated as a photographer. Her great pics of (pal) Kavanagh in his worn out suit, holding up veg samples from a field back home, are relatively familiar –but no one knows who took them…

She also photographed the first Bloomsday skite in 1954 where Kavanagh, Flann O’Brien, Anthony Cronin and others sought to recreate scenes from Joyce’s Ulysses. I understand that the event was organised by John Ryan Sr, well known for the Broadsheet parish.
