Ah, Rachel. The darling of the tabloids – effortlessly combining empowerment with willful objectification so that the students tune in. That reminds me, the 6 a.m. repeat will be on shortly.

        1. Cú Chulainn

The Star will always find a way.. although Rachel’s contribution is an almost thoughtful contribution.. I feel an attack of some small animal coming on in the coming days.. oh, and having trawled a few alternatives this week.. what’s the betting HW makes a return by the weekend..

the same Rachel Riley that was so determined to prove that Jeremy Corbyn is a racist that she printed it on a t-shirt. Eamonn Holmes is probably worse but it’s like choosing between pieces of poop in this regard.

          1. V'ness

Amongst that and some other nonsense stuff
When it comes down to it she’s every bit as ambitious and hungry
and determined as anyone else in main stream broadcast media

The afternoon gameshow host looking to make a move to a wider platform
            Its as simple as that

Holmes is a gobshy– and has no qualities that would make me watch and or listen to him
I’m no time for him and I don’t watch any day time telly
Ch 4 news is about the height of it on Main St telly for me
            And Bake Off of course
But this is exactly what he said (in response to Alice Beer pronouncing 5G Conspiracies as ridiculous and incredibly stupid)

“I totally agree with everything you are saying
but what I don’t accept is mainstream media immediately slapping that down as not true
when they don’t know it’s not true.

No one should attack or damage or do anything like that but it’s very easy to say it is not true because it suits the state narrative.”

            and then
That’s all I would say, as someone with an inquiring mind.

            Maybe it’s just me
But that’s exactly how I want everyone with a media profile and a wide reaching platform to think

            bold emphasis mine btw

          2. Cian

            bold emphasis mine btw

huh? I think I need a new screen then… or perhaps you’re not as bold as you would like to think! :’-)

          3. SOQ

but what I don’t accept is mainstream media immediately slapping that down as not true when they don’t know it’s not true.

And yet he was forced to apologise for that remark which shows how those who scream the loudest get heard most. Also the power of the telecoms industry of course.

          4. V'ness

Well now that just opens up a whole other series of questions Goop
The first of which might be

            Was he forced to apologise?

  1. GiggidyGoo

So it emerges that letsgetchecked wrote to Simon Harris and the HSE back in March, offering its service in testing frontline workers for Coronavirus but we’re rebuffed. They wrote again as the pandemic worsened. And still nothing. Maybe there’s a good reason for it?

    1. MaryLou's ArmaLite

You are a hypocrite, if FG had contracted Covid19 testing to a private company you’d be howling like a loon about it.

Remember a vote for SF/IRA is a vote for murder.

      1. Clampers Outside

        There’d be some screaming alright.
I think there some shouting down of such a suggestion on here weeks ago, early days..

        1. GiggidyGoo

Clampers, if you’re suggesting the same as MLAL about a reaction you assume I’d have, you can also click on Cian’s link. If so, you can pick some descriptions from my reply to MLAL if they describe you also. Be my guest.

          1. Clampers Outside

Although, just seeing that ML’s comment was a reply to you, so I can see now why you thought that. Understandable.

I do my best to respond to comments not the commenter, hence my not realising it was yourself at the start of the thread.

          2. GiggidyGoo

No problem Clampers. That’s why I included the phrase ‘if so’ in my reply to you as I didn’t think you were of the same mindset.

      2. GiggidyGoo

Have a look at Cians link below. I’m consistent.
Now, seeing as you prefer to attack me and not the subject, the subject now changes to you.
Your posts are full of Leorrhoea. You can’t think for yourself. You have a severe aversion to learning. You assume a lot, but know little. You find it difficult to string a few words together most times, and your mantra is reminiscent of the flat earth loons, the likes of Jeffrey Donaldson who FG consider worthy to address their Ard Fheis.
You’re a busted flush in other words.

        1. Papi

          “I’m consistent”

HAHAHAHHAHA!!! You’re some woman for one woman, gigs, I’ll give you that.

          1. GiggidyGoo

Yep, Papi. And you can choose a description of yourself from my reply to MLAL as you’re the same type of poster – the majority of your posts are to attack other posters. Choose as many descriptions as you like actually, as I’m sure more than one applies.

(+ don’t forget to start counting posts)

          2. GiggidyGoo

Yep – the silence is deafening for quite a while now from MLAL and Papi. A few home truths does the trick sometimes.

          3. GiggidyGoo

His choice sidhe. I’ll debate with anyone, but the history of MLAL, and Papi to a lesser extent is that their opening comment on threads is nothing to do with the thread, but an attack on other posters complete with assumptions. There are a few others too that aren’t in this particular thread who are due some ‘guidance’

So if someone decides to attack me as their first move, I retaliate. I’d expect the same to happen to me too.

    2. Cian

Their website is confusing it says “we will be launching” and “available from 30 March” and “awaiting FDA approval” (no mention of EU approval).
It is priced at $129 per test.
No mention of it’s success/failure rate.

      1. GiggidyGoo

Maybe their webmaster is in isolation or lockdown. However a quote from 3 days ago says it was launched on 27 March and they’ve already tested 100,000+ frontline workers samples from the US. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/health-minister-simon-harris-turned-down-covid-19-tests-from-letsgetchecked-dfjw59hgx

How much is it costing per test elsewhere? (plus the flight costs to Germany).

The point though is that the offer was there from a company that has the manufacturing facilities and lab already in place, to test front line staff. The offer wasn’t taken up. There must be a reason.

        1. Cian

I dunno. I can only see the first few lines of that article.

Maybe they have US approval but not EU?
Maybe we have sufficient test capacity and don’t need it?
Maybe it isn’t accurate enough to be useful?
          Maybe it is too expensive?
Maybe Harris made a bad decision?

          1. ReproBertie

You should put an FOI request for all communications between the two and any minutes on meetings when the company were discussed.

          2. GiggidyGoo

Well, Repro it’s not in the minutes of the HSE Covid-19 meetings so far, so it’d be pointless putting in a FOI for that wouldn’t it?
Apart from that, have you any views on the matter at all? (I wouldn’t like to be directing you to an earlier few comments of mine above now)

          3. ReproBertie

I offered you a suggestion on how to find out how the decision was made and your response is that you may have to lump me in with posters who prefer Ad Hominems? That’s lovely.

I’d be interested in knowing why too. Maybe the new Oireachtas Committee can raise the question. Perhaps an email to a committee member would be worth a shot.

          4. ReproBertie

No worries. We’ve had our bouts so I can understand the assumption that I was just having a go.

    3. A Person

Goo does not attack people who make comments on here? Ha ha, is that you trying wit, or sarcasm. You attack everyone on here who does not agree with you, in particular, anyone who is not a shinner. You track my posts in particular. You are the definition of the play ground bully, a coward. You can never answer straight questions put to you, and will run away. Sorry – the latest was slither away.

      1. Know Man Is An Island

        In the interest of balance.

A Person has previously claimed that the shinners were behind the the QIH scandal. A nonsense claim which has never been addressed.

A Person has also previously claimed that the shinners were behind the people smuggling ring involved in the incident in Essex. A nonsense claim that has never been addressed.

In the interest of balance and fairness.

        1. A Person

Really there are no shinners involved in QIH intimation? The lad who died in Derby had no shinner connections? It will all come out.

Really, no shinners involved in smuggling in the north – it will also all come out.

Come on Goo and your aliases, you never attack the person commenting… you always address the issue. BS of the highest order. Grow up.

          1. GiggidyGoo

Nope – If I’m attacked I retaliate. You have to be able to read what I’ve written to understand that.
            In the meantime, see below.

      2. GiggidyGoo

Pick any, or all actually, all, of my descriptions of MLAL. You’re also a busted flush. A childish one to boot.
        You can’t think for yourself.
You have a severe aversion to learning.
You assume a lot, but know little.
You find it difficult to string a few words together most times

No toddle along like a good lad.

      1. ReproBertie

The Irish Freedom Party also boasts Melissa O’Neil who has called for prayers for all the children who have been taken underground to the UFO bases in New York, Texas and “calaforana”.

      2. Cian

Just because she is chairperson of IFP doesn’t mean that she is wrong about COVID. (Neither does it mean she is right).
