what a fabulous basket there behind her head
I think it’s a potato basket. Spuds were cooked and emptied into the basket, it was then put in the middle of the table. After the meal it contained all the peelings which were given to the pig. It was then rinsed out and hung on the wall for the air to dry it. The ones I knew were in Kerry and they were huge.
