Part-Time Love

Minister for finance Paschal Donohoe (top right) and  Minister for Employment Affairs & Social Protection, Regina Doherty, brief the media at Government Buildings this afternoon.

The €350 Pandemic Unemployment Payment will become two-tiered from June 29, with people who were earning less than €200 per week before the outbreak of Covid-19 set to drop to €203 per week.

Social Protection Minister Regina Doherty today announced that the payment will continue until Phase 5 of the road map for reopening the economy on August 10, but it will be split from the beginning of Phase 3 in just over three weeks.

hmmm. stupid question possibly but how they actually gonna work out the fine details here regarding:

    a) that you are technically part-time (my understanding is that particular status can be fuzzy)
    b) that you earn <€200 pw? (my understanding is that can also be fairly fuzzy, I know some who do 40hrs some weeks but 15hrs other weeks depending on all sorts of things)

is this to be a self-declaration of some sort…or based on something as blunt as your last P60?

Revenue know how much income you have been paying tax on.
I imagine that will take a weighted average of the last 3/6/9/12 months.
It might be more complex if you were self employed.

I imagine she’ll be straight into the Seanad as a Taoiseach nominee, unfortunately

        I do too
although Pheonix have her as a front runner for the Blueshurts GS gig

She’d do less damage in the Seanad tbh
So I reckon that’s where she’ll be parked

fair enough…the working poor had a good run. they’ll have a few bob saved by now and can be put back to work for minimum wage.
