Shannon Airport hosts the world’s largest aircraft for delivery of PPE.
The massive six-engine Antonov An-225 jet delivered the largest single delivery of personal protective equipment (PPE) to be flown into Ireland.

Youtube randomly threw up a video of one of these taxi-ing and taking off to me last week. Some yoke so it is.

To quote the billionaire oligarch character from the classic film 2012:
“IZ RRRRRAHSHEEN”
Half expected to see Shane Ross coming down the steps there
…lockhard…lockhard
Hee hee
Pilot;
What you mean Lockheed?
Is Antonov you fool!
I once had the pleasure of working on its younger brother the 124. That was a behemoth! I can only imagine what working on the 224 is like.

Why is this even news? Will the non-Irish crew be interviewed for doing their job?
How about the Bill of Lading this time? Did they order the right stuff or waste another 4 million yoyos because the “PPE” on the boxes stands for Piles of Pickled Endive?
That yoke is even bigger than Leo;s ego
Steady.. you have no evidence to support that..
Shannon is the only airport in the country where this could land. Most people have forgotten that, in the early days of commercial trans-atlantic flight, Shannon was a major refuelling stop and a busy spot. The number of crashes in the 1940s-1960s gives a hint of the volume of air traffic back then – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shannon_Airport#Accidents_and_incidents. 99 dead, 34 dead, 83 dead – huge stories at the time.
Not quite the same country, but it has landed at aldergrove a few times i believe.
Not very well maintained at the time, canvas was showing through on some of the tyres :o
KLM Flight 633 makes for particularly grim reading.
