You have to admire Leos’ brass neck. Worst Minister of Defence in generation leaving the DF lurching from crisis to crisis but put ” our peacekeeping record ” up as if he was personally involved.

Pretty sure ze German delegation were laughing up their sleeves at the thoughts of having to fly the Irish DF home from the Congo because we didn’t have the ability to arrange our own logistics lol

The Spanish Air Force flew the Mali contingent to Madrid where the Air Corps picked them up for the end journey to Baldonnell.

I stand corrected, thank you Praetorian.
I have mixed up some articles I have read recently.
Were the Germans not approached about flying the Mali contingent
          back to Germany?

Genuine question do you think/believe the pidgin language helps you -ZE- really its 2020,like OMG:)
I’m not even touching how factually incorrect you are once again.
            Thank you LOL.

The Germans where asked also to repatriate two Army officers from Congo…the Govt Learjet was discussed but it hasn’t the range for such a mission.
it’s quite embarressing that such a revered peace keeping nation has no airlift capability….relying on charters supplied by the UN.

Who you gonna call next…. I make it simple for you and I go slow stay in your own lane as ze Germans would say:)

        This could work.

The CMI (Charger Mystical Index) a scale of 1 to 10; where 1 is verifiable fact and 10 is complete-Imperialist-UK_centric-jingoistic-absolute-gammon-nonsense!

The five permanent members of the security council can veto any major decision. Like in poker, a Smith & Wesson beats four aces.

I once read a book about Seán Lester , I had a warm feeling of pride for Ireland, for a moment, I don’t suppose this will be anything like that …
maybe Im wrong, maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about ….

Maybe we can support a resolution on consequences for Iran if they don’t give up imaginary weapons programs, 18 years on from 1441 and our last visit to the security council. We might get a pass on a few pharma jobs from the Donald if we do.

This is utterly meaningless but it will be a nice sinecure for someone. My bet is Eoghan Murphy. He already has been mooted as Ireland’s next EU commissioner if Phil Hogan moves to the WTO. He’d love this gig, who wouldn’t?

    From his Wiki page:
“Prior to entering politics, Murphy worked in international arms control, specifically in the area of nuclear weapons disarmament. He has worked for the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) in Geneva, Switzerland, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Dublin, and before his election to Dublin City Council,”

Now, what exactly he did is when working in UNIDIR is not clear. He could have been making the tea and photocopying. Who knows? Maybe a question for a journalist to ask.

There’s no additional political job. Career diplomats from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will do the work. Our ambassador to the UN, Geraldine Byrne Nason is quite an operator.

….and a very polarizing figure, she was at a lunch/event recently that I attended, her question (rambling endless grandstanding) was longer than the panelist (experts) contributions…I got up half way during Ger’s monologue and made few calls, checked my email and managed catch the second half….:)

Simon did outstanding work here, success has many fathers and failure is a orphan,he really should be leading FG,if it wasn’t for COVID….
