Jaysus, why is der no bleedin’ Irish news on the front of de bleedin’ Irish Daily Mail top o’ the morning begorrah.
    Wha …?

Will Heinz 57 Harris retain his position as health minister? Although, why not, as he was such an epidemiological and medical sleuth in discovering the existence of 19 Covid viruses – there could be another 38 varieties of Heinz Harris’ Corona Viruses which he alone could discover and save the world; or, what about GLEEo Varadkar or the more fruity Paschal Pineapple Donoghue?

I’d say marshmallow Micheál is loving his Taoiseach teacakes – I doubt he’ll be sharing them with cowardly Coveney. As for the Green Party, it’s a bit late in the year to plant vegetables.

    1. GiggidyGoo

Odd that it takes the GP so long to be able to count less than (we are told) 2000 votes. It would take one person no more than two hours, and that’s even double-checking them. Unless it was a foregone calculation.
At least Catherine Martin will know how it works for the leadership election.

      1. ReproBertie

“Unless it was a foregone calculation.”

FFS. Always with the groundless hint of conspiracy.

Postal, phone and online voting had to be counted and checked to make sure there was no double voting. You really should engage Occam’s razor a bit more.

        1. GiggidyGoo

But, according to headlines in the Examiner over the past few days, it was already a foregone conclusion?
There were less than 2000 votes counted. Are you saying that the Green Party hasn’t the technology to identify the possibility of a double vote? Surely the members wouldn’t think that way – shudder the thought?

Takes a day to count and verify 2000 votes. Really?

          1. ReproBertie

The speculative story in The Examiner which clearly said “if deal passed”? That’s what you’re basing this nonsense on?

          2. GiggidyGoo

Headlines are read by passers-by. The print in the story is too small to read by passers-by, unless they buy the newspaper, which (as you know) are declining in sales.

Tuesday’s headline in the same paper. ‘Higgins will not allow Dail to disband,’ That isn’t speculation. It’s stated as a fact.

De Paper isn’t worth the paper it’s written on these days.

          3. Johnny

Oh no V-that’s more bad news for Dereck from on here,I’d almost create an obnoxious troll if that happened me ….almost but I have too much self respect, thankfully I’m not filled with self loathing and hatred like some …

          1. Johnny

You must be expecting that call from HQ any day, or are you still out in the cold Mary, the boys are back in power huh and they left you behind, discarged you like a cheap rent boy….I’m sure Mount St has you on speed dial….any day now ‘Mary” any day…

          2. Johnny

No word on Willie O’Dea getting a cabinet seat, not looking good for advisors Mary but give them a bell there yourself…as they certainly ain’t calling you any time soon now are they Mary ?

Here’s the number at Mount St-Mary in case you know they only accepting incoming calls (01)6761551,I’m sure they have your’s or Willie can put in good word….

          3. Daisy Chainsaw

No word on Noonan getting his collar felt over facilitating rape and abuse of a disabled woman? A vote for blueshoites is a vote for rape.

          4. GiggidyGoo

Thought you’d gotten over that. Sure now, a vote for FF, or FG is a vote for DUP/UDA. FF = FG = DUP = UDA. FF = UDA That’s some turnabout for The Soldiers Of Destiny in all fairness. Let’s see them use the tag line ‘The Republican Party’ now.

    2. Charger Salmons

      It’s a rum old do.
Leo gets lauded by the Irish media for his handling of Brexit and Covid-19 and he ‘s out on his ear.
Boris gets villified by the same Irish media and he has his feet up enjoying a gargle at Chequers this afternoon contemplating at least another four years in power.
      Aye, it’s a topsy-turvy world make no mistake …

  3. Gabby

Irish Daily Mail headline says we’ve been 140 days without a government. Wrong. The civil servants have been running the country, with a little help from Leo Varadkar’s speechwriters and spin men.

Oh dear, seems like the Starmer surge the whiney liberal media has been praying for is still a long way off.
The Tories are seven points and 162 seats more than Labour and unscathed by the Covid-19 fallout.
The Three Stooges – Mehole,Verruca and Swampy – would give their right arm for ratings like this.
Watching the Turnip Trio fight among themselves over the coming months is going to be great entertainment.

    1. Formerly known as @ireland.com

The polls are no surprise when you consider they were stupid enough to vote for Bozo and Brexit. Ireland’s system is not perfect but is far superior to the British one. 43% in Ireland does not give you an 80 seat majority.

      1. Charger Salmons

140 days to come up with a Musical Chairs Taoiseach who has to get permission from a cyclist and then Frau Merkel to do anything ?
You’re a laughing stock old sport.
        Malta with more rain.

        1. Nigel

          ‘laughing stock’

Ohhhhh, there’s the raw weeping sore fed by the bleeding ulcer that is the Johnson government’s performance.

          1. Charger Salmons

What part of 7-point lead in the latest opinion polls didn’t you understand Nige ?
Over here any of The Three Stooges would be happy with a seven pint lead.
            WINKY-WOOometer – 7/10.

          2. Nigel

I understand you’re defending their numbers, not their actions, which is what you do when their actions are indefensible.

          3. Charger Salmons

The thing is that 7point lead indicates a majority of people in Britain don’t share your opinion of their actions.
In fact they haven’t for just about everything you’ve written on here about Brexit,Boris and Blighty.
Politics, eh ? It all comes down to numbers at the end of the day.
            Heh,heh,heh x 80

        2. Charlie

“laughing stock” said the bbq man living in the planets second greatest politicial spoof.

Too grey to fire up the trusty Weber today old chum.
Lady Charger is hosting a dinner party to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
All I have to do is pour lots of Bombay Sapphire and Mumm shampoo for the guests.
Yourself ? Has Abrakebabra started taking bookings yet ?

          2. Janet, dreams of spidercrab and fancy pastries

Janet, I wish it was the amount I drink of it.
It’s Lady Charger’s favourite which is why I get it in.Call me common but I’m more of a Gordon’s man myself.

  5. Bertie Blenkinsop

If nothing else, Ireland’s Comic Relief reminded me how many people in Irish entertainment get on my wick.

    1. Charger Salmons

      I know, embarrassing wasn’t it ?
I waited up late to watch Ireland’s best comedian, David McSavage, and they gave him 30 seconds.
When even Bono swerves a charity gig you know it’s going to be tragic.
Still, it raised 80c for charidee.

      1. GiggidyGoo

Isn’t it a sad state of affairs that the worthy causes aren’t being supported fully by the State? But the opportunity isn’t missed by the government to say they will match (up to €3m) anything raised – giving the impression that they care. (Our money by the way, being used to paint the government in a good light)
€2,071,701 was the amount donated without the €3m top up)?

      2. Joe F

Charger Salmons, you asked yesterday who I am, was away yesterday evening so only saw your question late last night. My name is Joseph Fitzgibbon (abbreviated to Joe F username) Now can you answer my 2 questions i.e. why use a totally made up name and secondly can you defend your British tabloids behaviour re the new German suspect in the McCann disappearance. As I said yesterday, the Daily Mail went completely overboard in acting as judge, jury & executioner on him. Now things are changing rapidly and the prosecutor is back tracking big time. No reports of that however from DM. The only “evidence” is that he made a half hour phone call to someone in the vicinity of the disappearance. That means absolutely nothing. Terrible reporting, just to sell more copies.

        1. Charger Salmons

          Why shouldn’t I use a made-up name ? I’m sure Alfonso Bodger isn’t his real name either.
And why should I be obliged to defend British tabloids ? I don’t ask you to defend the terrible state of Ireland’s football team just because you’re Irish.
You seem obsessed about the German suspect in the McCann case.
          Worringly so.

          1. Joe F

You’re just a troll old boy. Hiding behind an anonymous name, why don’t you use your real name on here? I bet if you did you wouldn’t be writing any of the rubbish you do.

Also, what are you on about with the Irish football team? I don’t write ridiculous, stupid posts like you, extolling everything good about the British. You should work for the Daily Express, look at some of the headlines they had recently, talk about cheerleaders for Boris, they’re beyond a joke. So, do you agree with the Daily Mails reporting on McCann case?

  6. Charger Salmons

And anyone who remembers the last time the Greens were in government will recall it was Joe Public , especially the poor, who ended up picking up the tab for their grandiose schemes dreamed up over dinner parties of mung bean stew and organic stinging nettle wine.
Huge hikes in road tax for people who couldn’t afford to buy new, lower emission cars which they couldn’t drive in cities anyway because streets were ripped up for cycle lanes used by three vegans a day.
Swampy will worship at the feet of Saint Greta while everyone else pays through the nose to use imported nuclear energy because the wind turbines only generate enough electricity to power some hippy’s hydroponic weed growbag in West Cork.
Thanks to Gormless Gormley – remember his failed Non Principal Private Residence tax (NPPR) – who disastrously led the Greens last time they were allowed anywhere near the reigns of power everyone in Ireland is paying more for the house they live in and the car they drive.
Expect to be levied until the pips squeak by these eco-terrorists just so some Leeside loser and a preening gadfly can take turns as top dog.
    Bring on the Shinners.

        1. bisted

…more people voted shinner than any other party…shinners made a big mistake not fielding enough candidates…their next big mistake was encouraging supporters to transfer to green candidates…

          1. ReproBertie

I’m sure the 5 years on the opposition benches will give them plenty of time to reflect. They might even be able to find new candidates who don’t call underage girls scum and dismiss the idea of gay people understanding family.

          2. Johnny

5 years your delusional-be lucky it lasts a year, its a marriage of convince not conviction-SF will grow and thrive in opposition and warmly welcome the many many defectors from the Greens-hi Saoirse:)

I think its best thing ever happened SF-personally im delighted they dodged this bullet, the economy is a mess and unless the Germans start issuing euro bonds by the bucket the whole EU project is in serious trouble.

He’s an irrelevant local councillor from Tallaght-small ball Repo-Saoirse is a force to be reckoned with in Irish politics her next move is way more important than Paddys.

          3. ReproBertie

Irrelevant? He’s an elected member of SF, nominated by SF for Mayor of South Dublin, while Saoirse hasn’t been elected by anyone.

          4. bisted

…not sure Saoirse would join the shinners or any of the existing parties of the left but she is the closest Ireland has to Greta…I hope she comes together with like-minded idealists to retrieve the environmental flag from the greens who fly it as a flag of convenience…

          5. Johnny

Repo it’s a sunny Saturday I’m being patient here but front page IT-what more can you ask or want – SF is a big party growing daily,it probably picked up some x Green supporters this morning.

Saoirse’s next move will have a very significant impact on irish politics,Paddy’s won’t other than giving you a bigger soapbox to grandstand on

          6. ReproBertie

Who’s asking you to spend your sunny day defending SF? In Ireland we’ll have SF today going on about how this new government is not the change that people voted for. A day after they nominated Holohan for mayor, showing that they are just the same as FFG. Some change!

          7. johnny

..its morning drinking my coffee Repo have plans thanks-they don’t include defending SF.
…”THEY” …didn’t nominate him are just be mendacious and disingenuous for the giggles like seriously read the F papers …FRONT PAGE IT …

“On Friday night, a Sinn Féin spokesman said the party was “not aware of his nomination”, and that nominations for council positions were “a matter for council groups”

            https://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/ó-broin-says-nomination-of-sinn-féin-s-paddy-holohan-s-for-mayor-wrong-1.4289812

Hey look on the bright side we have an unfit leader who appears hellbent on killing hundreds thousands through negligence and ignorance…

          8. GiggidyGoo

The Green membership count in a week or two will be less than it was this morning. The new recruits that joined before the last election are already jumping. They know the story.

          9. ReproBertie

I have the Irish Times in front of me and the only Holohan on the front page is CMO Tony.

If you believe for one second that SF councillors nominated a SF councillor for Lord Mayor without notifying SF party HQ then you are a lot more naive than I suspected.

          10. Johnny

Whatever Repo-he announced it HIMSELF- the nomination on in his insta ac….HIS NOMINATION – he announced it all by himself-the party distanced themselves….if you have a link any party statement supporting him feel free…

Any word on FFG funding Trumps wage bill, word in NY/DC political circles is FFG supported it and paid him-sweet- free money for the Donald who likes grab women by their ….where is that golf club again what TD’s would be impacted …hm ?

Wasn’t that long ago Eamo was protesting trumps visit now his govt is paying him with your money- auspicious start -is it a secret in Ireland who got the state money there must be a list right, with who got what there must be….its public after all its your money they paying him with!

          11. ReproBertie

He announced it thanking his “SF comrades for the nomination“. Was he lying?

Never mind the bad SF thing, look at this other party’s bad thing! Pathetic,

          12. Johnny

…you can put the shovel down or keep digging, you’d think the shinners would at least lash out a party statement given how important this whole nomination process appears to be in your world Repo-i have a word about it ok….

-I’d like thank Eamon Ryan and the Green party for paying Donald Trump’s wage bill.

        2. Charger Salmons

Yup, I voted for the Shinners.
Just to see the havoc it would cause Ireland and it very nearly did.
The thought of an EU country being controlled by a terrorist Army Council based in another country was too good a target to miss.
And the look on the faces of all those barstool Republicans being confronted by the reality of Sinn Fein in power ? Priceless.
Still, next time won’t be far off.

          1. Charger Salmons

So the UK has given Barbados the green light for early July in their new traffic light system of air bridges for reciprocal visits without the need for quarantine.
It’s a tough old choice though.
Sipping an ice-cold Banks on Mullins Beach looking out across the turquoise Caribbean or playing vomit hopscotch in Temple Bar.
Aye, it’s a tough one alright.

          2. SOQ

Why are you engaging with this comic? You who runs a successful cannabis growing consultancy business out of NYC- at least that is what you claim.

          3. Johnny

SOQ-if you’d like chat about the papers fine-its really not for you to tell me who i respond to or not….my life is a journey towards enlightenment to get there humility is required,I try practice it and not talk too much about my life or lifestyle, things are good in my life, can’t get home in July to see granddad but other than that…what can I say-Charger does not bother me in slightest some his posts are quite funny….enjoy your weekend.

I can post pictures off sunset over the Yacht Club last night overlooking Gardniners Island if you’d like…..any sign that fecking bus…

  7. SOQ

Chris McGlade is a English comedian who had a show called The Northern Monkey. This poem/rhyme is from 2018 but he recently rerecorded it and stuck it out on twitter. It probably took off because of the whole race thing and has a John Cooper Clarke vibe about it. Some will say it is far right but I think it is good old fashioned left myself- definitely worth a watch.

Great podcast on the only band that matters…BLM.

“Stay Free: The Story of The Clash is a new podcast series, tracing the origins, rise, and fall of The Clash, excellently narrated by Chuck D (Public Enemy), tracing their journey from London squats to Shea Stadium glory. He comments:
“It’s an honour heading up this new podcast Stay Free: The Story of The Clash. I was and am a big fan of their music. We were always tackling very similar social and political issues.”

    Head on Block time
    Just a few calls

I’m expecting a call up for Emer Higgins DG DMW
and Lisa Chambers (from the Senate – Gvt are allowed two)
    Jack Chambers FF
And Patrick Donovan FG to get his old gig back

If FF McGrath doesn’t get Finance I reckon he’ll be in Housing
(Despite what the papers are saying about Cowen getting it)
    Harris to stay in Health
Catherine Martin in either Ed or the one Zappone had
Although it’s nowhere to be seen, Joe McHugh FG was a good Minister (ed last time) and I wouldn’t be surprised that he’s back in contention
I expect to see a number of Super Jnrs – going between Health Housing and Finance/ SW

The big decider and big splitter potentially,
    Is who gets Justice

Regina Doherty and Catherine Noone to be planted into the Seanad
With Timmy Dooley and Declan Breathnach

And the civic Senate freebie – if it goes to a particular person not unknown to me in my game as has been mentioned given the amount of canvassing he’s been at
    I quit
Like seriously, selling up and moving,

And if Anne Rabbitte gets a Government Job, then I’m going to seriously consider changing my mind about joining a PP

  10. GiggidyGoo

I see that the currency cards, approx 50,000 issued by Wirecard for AnPost are suspended. These were Mastercards that could be used in lots of currencies.
An Post is not having much luck. It’s Smartaccount service gets slated almost non stop, and it’s Postbank died a few years ago.

My quote of the week from the peerless Matt Chorley in the London Times.

” Like fidget-spinners, flossing, and shaking hands with strangers, the Corbynistas had their moment but it has now passed. They should go back to their constituencies and prepare for Pointless to use them as jackpot-winning answers. “

  12. Charger Salmons

Here’s another useless fact to inspire and amaze.
    Next Wednesday is July 1st.
On that day in 1916, the Battle of the Somme started.
Also film star Olivia de Havilland was born.
    And she’s still alive.
    I mean,bloody hell like.
