This morning.
Earlier…
This morning.
National Convention Centre, Dublin.
From top: Green Party leader Eamon Ryan, Fine Gael leader Leo Varadkar and Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin arrive.
Owing to social distancing protocols, the Dáil is sitting at the Convention Centre , to elect a new taoiseach, who is expected to be Micheal Martin, who will then form a government between Fianna Fail , Fine Gael and the Green Party.
Watch here
Earlier: Oh No

Half of Fine Fails elected representatives advocated for a No vote in the most recent referendum. Shame on the Green Party for enabling them to enter government two years later. Never mind bringing the Blueshirts back to government.
33% of those who voted, voted No in that referendum. Members of all political parties voted No. It would be bizarre if some members of this Dáil and members of this Government hadn’t.
Are you advocating for some kind of Cultural Revolution?
Those with backwards brains voted no. Yes, a cultural revolution would be nice.
The majority of FF TDs that got returned in February
Were solid loud and gaudily Vote Nos
And if anyone doesn’t think our Repealed decision isn’t at risk
Look at the FF negotiation team
Ann Rabbitte
Jack Chambers
Michael McGrath
Dara Callery
Now potentially all Members of the next Cabinet
And so is Mary Butler
Nothing is safe
Irish politics crony style. This time pre crony
I’m going to wish Mr Martin well –he is going to need it- what with recession and pandemic.
Bye , bye FF; bye , bye FG.
Never going to happen, FF crashed the economy people said bye bye FF. FG implemented austerity to such a degree it was crippling, people said bye bye FG. Both returned the same (granted not exact) vote as Sinn Fein. The same Sinn Fein who back populist nonsense and wouldn’t have a hope of implementing half of what they say.
Whether we like it or not, they are here to stay.
Yes, I hear you Harry but FF weren’t forgiven at the GE some months ago for crashing the economy. Michael got 93 votes today; 63 against ; 4 abstained. Division for sure.
What is your definition of “populist” Harry? (Before you answer, have a good read of FF FG election manifestos)
FF FG are here to stay. Not in the numbers of TDs currently, but they are in a downward spiral. Same way as Labour.
By the way – both returned a lesser number of votes each than SF. That is the truth isn’t it?
The pusses on FG boyos voting for Michéal Martin as Taoiseach would be a sight to behold.
Yet again….
A man with less than one year’s experience, as a school teacher, is elected Taoiseach.
I know there’s a lot of Leo haters here, but when the $H1t hit the fan remember that we had a qualified MD at the helm. Right man, right time, right place.
Now we have someone, yet again, who is completely unqualified to lead a government.
Before we get too stick into the who gets what
Anyone catch who nominated MM and seconded
Ta. V
Norma Foley I think …..white jacket . Another newcomer – male- seconded the nomination.
And now Minister for Education
Her late Dad’s habit of resting bank drafts around house must have made her a natural choice
The Foley’s and the Martin’s have a lot in common
Our new Taoiseach’s Teacher’s inferiority complex his making his decisions for him
Barry Cowen
Darragh O’Brien
FFS
Worse than useless
Leo has stitched him up goodo
V…..23 year old James o Connor seconded ….I was right about Norma Foley nominating….new faces !
New face
But same as all the old ones
Michael D hadn’t even a smile on his face when he left the seals of office on the desk and retreated away, leaving Michilín to come over and collect them. Political distancing more than Social distancing by the looks of it. Not even a smile for the new BOGOF Taoiseach.
More Sinn Fein spin. All the usual pleasantries were present. Micheal Martin couldn’t bring his family to the convention centre but Mary Lou could bring Michelle O’Neill… a politician elected in another jurisdiction.
Not on the video clip I saw. Clinical giving of the seals. No pleasantries from what I saw. Videos don’t spin.
Stephen Donnelly is going to be Minister for Health.
I’d just like to offer Stephen a considerable advance for the rights to his upcoming book, “It was like this when I got there.”
Not a bad appointment
In fairness
Although I suspect he’ll repackage Sláinte Care and sell it off as his own creation
Newly created ministry for Harris. Minister for Higher Education – a college dropout?
Nothing for Yoghan
Nothing for Proper Charlie
Catherine Martin will need an extra long business card. Like the Mayor of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch in Wales
I do have high hopes for Helen McEntee though.
And Johnny Vegas getting housing?
Poor Giggidy
#sadTrombone
Giggidy is very happy.
The main opposition is now clearly defined. No more will we have the FF and FG pretence.
Micheal Martin finally put the penultimate nail in FFs coffin. If only Jack Lynch were alive to witness it….
. And FG has been sold out by Varadkar- Coveney’s lump-in-throat emission of the word ‘Tá’ didnt hide the shame of being forced by Varadkar and Co. to sell his soul. If only his daddy could see him.
It is with great pleasure that Rob_G is now a fully-fledged FFG-er. There’ll be dancing at the crossroads- – sorry- ballet in the park to celebrate.
Ryan spoofed that Martin was perfectly qualified at what, were not Martin and Ryan
members of the Cabinet that from 2007 to 2011 that presided over the wrecking of
the Irish Economy how many Billions have been sucked out of the pockets of the
Irish people due to their incompetence:
Clicking amongst all the cliques.

Parisional Politics Role, okay?
– no, it’s not okay, actually.
Surprised Neasa didn’t get a Green ministry.
Punishment for speaking against the PfG? or keeping her for the inevitable re-shuffle in Dec 2022?
I was wrong when I believed that the Healy-Rae Party were still the most corrupt, stupid and self-serving bastions of Oirish society, oblivious to anything outside their own bubble.
3 new entrants have entered the arena, in a bigger bubble
Helen McEntee as Minister for Justice? What?
I’m in two minds about it meself
But I’m going to stick with the positive one
Fair play to Leo Varadkar
If that appointment doesn’t signal that days of oul’ fellas thinking they’re the only ones capable of Senior Appointments, simply because they’re male and over 50 – well 60 anyway and are one of the boys
Then nothing is
Hope she proves Leo
And the rest of us
right
