#despitebrexit Breaking News …
The European Space Agency has selected Leicester for its new space tech incubation centre.
Expected to create 2,500 jobs, the £100m-plus Space Park Leicester development has already attracted global companies including Lockheed Martin, Thales, Airbus and Hewlett Packard.
Interestingly the story isn’t covered on its website by the BBC’s science pages – although there was room for a story about Nasa naming its HQ after its first black female engineer and one about Greta Thunberg saying that climate change ‘is as urgent as coronavirus’.
Meanwhile American aerospace giant Moog Aerosoace, headquartered in New York, is building a new £40m factory in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. Moog describes the investment as “an integral part of its commitment to long-term development and manufacturing in the UK.”

There is another name been bandied about, Martin Ney, again no link or evidence to him.
You would think your darling, superior British would learn their lesson before they report on the way they have. The evidence linking present German “suspect” is flimsy to say the very least. Still, as I said it doesn’t stop the gutter press using this as a tool to sell more.
I’m 95% sure he had nothing to do with it. I may be wrong! He is a despicable excuse for a human being, but he has nothing to do with her missing.
There is far more evidence linking her parents in my opinion, for example, an Irish family called the Smiths, are 80% sure they saw Gerry McCann carrying a young child in his arms away from the apartment at the time of her disappearance. This of course is wildly under reported by the British tabloids. Of course this doesn’t prove they’re involved. I simply don’t know who done it, I’m maybe 80% sure the parents were involved, but I could be wrong!
The way the Daily Mail and others are reporting it you would think 100% this is the guy responsible.

In the meantime here’s a couple of excellent talks he’s given that articulate and explain quite a lot of not so common sense(unfortunately) about politics, economics and historically how the various cycles of forces and influences on the planet tend to operate over time.
You can find plenty more but these two stood out in my mind as being particularly worthwhile for everyone to get up to speed on his analysis so far..

“I’d like to find a way to decriminalise small quantities of weed. If a grown adult wants to grow a herb and then smoke it, and there are no negative consequences for other people, then they should be allowed to do that,” he said.
“However, any such approach would have to be done in the context of medical research showing that smoking weed as a minor can lead to longer-term mental health challenges.”

Personally, I have wondered if there is more to this thing than has been reported. Trump has already stated that he has seen evidence that it came out of the lab and so far all the talk has been about gain of function meaning how infectious they could make it.
But what if they modified it in other ways? Given that these level 4 labs are all over the world, it would be in nobody’s interests to make such public. Developing bio-weapons is illegal and they all would then come under scrutiny.
In which case it is not a corona virus- it is something else.

We’re at the start of the U S A presidential election campaign. Trump is sticking to his anti-Chinese strategy and the Democrats seem to be reviving the Trump / Putin conspiracy . Mark Blythe, one of the most, if not ‘the most’ intelligent mind’s and voice’s on modern progressive and radically effective solutions in economic and political science was just on newsderp FM schooling the right wing neoliberal economic extremists as usual.

If you’re not aware of or listening to what he has to say you’re missing out, big time!

Ta for that…. His book ‘Angrynomics’ sounds well worth a read :) …saw it reviewed on his twitter feed.
Ah, ye.. You’re welcome and cheers for the reminder.. I’m looking forward to that one too…
In the meantime here’s a couple of excellent talks he’s given that articulate and explain quite a lot of not so common sense(unfortunately) about politics, economics and historically how the various cycles of forces and influences on the planet tend to operate over time.

2019 – Global Trumpism and the Future of the Global Economy

You can find plenty more but these two stood out in my mind as being particularly worthwhile for everyone to get up to speed on his analysis so far..
Always informative without getting lost in the weeds of statistical analysis but also very entertaining and often hilarious as he used to be a stand-up comedian in a previous life, apparently?..
Enjoy!.. & Pass it on..

Thanks for those Joe!
I would like extend my warmest congratulations to Irelands new health minister and assume he’s a man of honor.
“But the Wicklow TD is open to legalising marijuana.

Stephen left a vapor trail of support for medical cannabis, one hopes he was not trafficking in false hopes, we shall find out, but congrats Stephen.

Classy and Clever appointment alright
…he was persistent and tenacious in opposition, unlikely he’s going let all the sick and suffering patients down that he filled with hope…..right!
“340. Deputy Stephen S. Donnelly asked the Minister for Health the progress made on the commencement of the compassionate access programme for patients that require treatment with medicinal cannabis; and if he will make a statement on the matter.”

Stoic leader wibbles? Couldn’t see which one that referred to but it’s nauseating whether it’s Leo or Martin. At least everyone will get back to calling the Teesh by their surname. This media honeymoon period would want to last exactly one day only This is a glorified cabinet reshuffle, out with the old, in with the old. Who cares about that history-making guff at this stage,
Also, these front pages suggest that both Martin and the media feel the virus is history.
There is absolutely nothing in the current COVID trends or statistics that warrant it being front page worthy anymore. The only people who are eagerly anticipating a second (third, really) wave are the Prime Time team
Funny you should say that,
Leo was the only one of them to wear a mask on the bus
It hasn’t gone away, you know. Hi from Melbourne – case numbers are rising, after many weeks of decline. We were close to zero, 49 new cases today. It is definitely going to hang around for a long time. Complacency is the enemy.
…the virus is running wild in US-its out of control,we are looking at another lockdown.
-some nursing home data from NYT for Bodger-if you told me i’d be safer in Ireland during a worldwide pandemic than in New York I would have have laughed at you…
“At least 54,000 residents and workers have died from the coronavirus at nursing homes and other long-term care facilities for older adults in the United States, according to a New York Times database. As of June 26, the virus has infected more than 282,000 people at some 12,000 facilities”

here’s a little poem about Hope, for our government I have none, for the resuming of life I have a glimmer
Hope is the thing with feathers
BY EMILY DICKINSON
“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –
And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –
I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.
Interesting one

Another weekend Winky-Woo score of 8/10.
Localised lockdowns are common amongst European countries where there are sudden spikes in C-19 cases.
German authorities re-imposed a pandemic lockdown in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and earlier this week Varadkar said such measures would also be taken in Ireland if they were needed.
But hey, what does that matter when you get a chance of show of the inferiority complex.
“when you get a chance of show of the inferiority complex.”
what’s that you’re trying to say, fellow?

“Inside the body, the coronavirus is even more sinister than scientists had realized”
https://www.latimes.com/science/story/2020-06-26/inside-the-body-the-coronavirus-is-even-more-sinister-than-scientists-had-realized
Researchers exploring the interaction between the coronavirus and its hosts have discovered that when the SARS-CoV-2 virus infects a human cell, it sets off a ghoulish transformation. Obeying instructions from the virus, the newly infected cell sprouts multi-pronged tentacles studded with viral particles…….

Oh Trump said that did he
Nigel- you are like one of those summer flies who buzz around a florescent kitchen light but never quite fugue how to get inside the plastic covering.
SOQ you are like unto a stream of gold that shines out when all is dark.
Just wondering Nigel why you seem to be SOQs personal stalker on this issue. He is asking pertinent questions in my view. Are you taking what the WHO and China as gospel on this pandemic? If you are, I would consider that to be lackadaisical on the issue.
I simply occasionally take issue with statements that rely on the presumption that Trump is a reliable source of information. If you have a problem with that you’re welcome to it.
We’re at the start of the U S A presidential election campaign. Trump is sticking to his anti-Chinese strategy and the Democrats seem to be reviving the Trump / Putin conspiracy . The recent reports of a Russian backed bounty for the deaths of U S troops in Afghanistan would fall into the unverifible rumours category that pass for hard news during election campaigns . For peace of mind it is probably better to ignore the whole thing until the votes are counted in November.
Occasionally – on the occasions that SOQ posts about Coronavirus with alternative views.
When did it become a rule that everyone must agree on everything before anyone can agree on anything?
Giggy, don’t exaggerate – respondintg to ALL of SOQ’s alternative facts would be a full-time job for a small army of sweat-shop bots.
Take it up with Giggy, SOQ, they don’t like me ocassionally disagreeing with you.
Ni – Women have a penis – gel critiques alternative facts…. LOL!
Ah the genitalia police is here.
Proper LOL!
@SOQ There are some evolutionary scientists and epidemiologists who have analyzed covid 19 and begun to question why certain typical corona virus traits, this time have normally unrelated effects and neurological attacks. They say it may show signs of manipulation, but they need more study. Bret Weinstein (Scientist) talked about it in a recent interview with Joe Rogan.

Statement from No. 10:

David is currently the Prime Minister’s Europe Adviser and the UK’s Chief Negotiator. He will succeed Sir Mark Sedwill who has served as National Security Adviser since April 2017.
The Prime Minister, with the approval of HM The Queen, has nominated David for a life peerage.”
