I like Hazel, I think she has potential. I do hope she stops saying how racist everyone is now, she’s been elected, and now is the Mayor. So maybe we aren’t as racist as she tells us so very frequently.

(Doubt BS will post this, even though when you look at it it’s not offensive to anyone. The most overtly censored public blog on the internet.)

Do you think that the fact that a non-white person is mayor means that that there aren’t any racists?

(this makes even less sense, given that the position isn’t directly-elected)

if that’s what you took from my comment, then head off, because it’s resoundingly dumb and so far removed from anything i said. you’re literally reading a comment, making something up in your head and deciding what i said was something wildly different.

        Ye see, that’s the issue.

There’s loads of folks who are racists (probably). The problem is, ya can’t really do shag all about them.

It’s a thought in their head. You can’t change it or get rid of it. Only they can.

Besides, how do you enforce it? We should probably just stop talking about it, instead of trying catch everyone out all the time.

        1. Dr.Fart

Yea i hear ya. Racism isn’t based in any logic. People who arent racist don’t stop being racist after you explain how it’s irrational. It’s like telling a crazy person to not be crazy.

I think there are racists in every country, I also think we don’t have many who are actually fully racist as in they simply hate other races, i think we have lots of a-holes who look for any feature in a person to be mean to them, and if that feature is race they’ll use that. Most of those people are trolls who won’t say it in real life, just on twitter etc. Telling them to stop doesn’t make them stop. But also ya can’t just let them at it so ya need to ban em. Like those kids messaging Ian Wright. They backtracked so hard once he went public with their messages. I doubt theyre racist, theyre just dumb little teens trying to get at someone famous.

Anyway, my point is, constantly saying everyone’s racist doesn’t help. Weed out the trolls, ban em, shut em up, but no need to analyse everything everyone says and then labelling them racist when they obviously arent

Rob and his labels and always trying shut people down I was anti Semitic earlier for daring use a word I use every day in NY-cancel culture by Rob…

          2. Micko

            I’d agree with ya.

I always say that we don’t have a racist problem. We just have a d1ckhead problem.

Everyone has their prejudices. It’s whether you act on them or not.

Congratulations Eileen Flynn, good luck and well done Brid and The Green Party, classy move kudos.

Hazel is great. Shame she is a single issue candidate, when really, there are so many more important issues in Ireland for 95% of the people. There will always be racist scum and no matter how hard they try, the liberals will never convince us we are racist. It got you there Hazel, but its senior hurling now and Lee Chin and Sean Og will be having none of it.

    1. Vanessanelle

      Ah come on

      Give her a chance

I don’t for a minute think she is a single issue candidate, just cause certain people make her one of theirs

Hazel has shown enormous dignity considering

Dublin’s new Lord Mayor has an overwhelming mandate from her constituency
and a massive vote of confidence from the Dublin City Council Chamber

It’s her job now to prove them right for electing her
and all those not unknown to ye here wrong

      Likewise with Eileen Flynn

      Hon de’ Mná

sorry lads, but it’s very hard for me not to get upset when I think of some of the stuff said about Hazel Chu, and who’s saying it.

  4. Slightly Bemused

I do not know either of the ladies in question, but I think this is a wonderful move forward for our country. So much has changed since I was a child. So much more needs to change, but at least it has started.
I wish them both the best in their positions.
