Winning The War On Drugs

at | 46 Replies

Last night.

Bray, County Wicklow.

Drug Squad officers seized a ‘growhouse’ situated in the attic of a normal-looking residential home flagrantly cultivating ‘illegal plants’.

The streets of Bray are a little bit safer this morning.

Thanks, Guards.

…most these believe it or not are not based on deep undercover investigations, how the guards end up in his attic with a warrant ?

Thermal camera on the Garda helicopter most likely. An attic growhouse would stand out like a sore thumb

They use heat sensitive cameras in helicopters. Probably shared it with his mates and word get around.

A buddy of mine back in the day had his hot lamps set up in his fireplace for exactly that reason.

Aye, it’s not the time and money wasted but the pride that Plod shows in the bust.
Between that and visiting 6,800 pubs and restaurants over the weekend you wonder how they have time for their Krispy Kremes.

9 plants each yielding 1.5 to 2 pounds a harvest,4.5-5 harvests per year, how much a pound in Bray ?
    3,000-4,500 a pound today NY/Mass.

-we target 2 pounds and 6 harvests a year -i dumbed it down as this is a gorilla grow-what are you suggesting per plant per harvest and how many harvests per year ?

..here how grow weed for beginners ,we use extremely high end lighting,AI and robotics …
…follow this and you get a pound-get good you get 1.5 pounds per plant, that’s not the first grow above, they were cloning plants too.
..most likely 4-5 guys who pool their capital and have 5 grow sites,so that if you lose one or two you stay in business, pool resources take care each others grow in your elderly aunts attic…its just basic black market growing low end stuff..
..or a lone wolf but thats just a stupid way do this.

Wow… that works out at between 60 to 90 lbs; or $180K to $405K per year (in NY/Mass).
      Not exactly “personal consumption”

-lets low ball it-they got caught so not overly bright.

4 harvests a year-but we going with 1.5 pounds per pant which is arguably high but offset by a low number harvests.

9 plants at 1.5 pounds (should be closer 2)so thats 13.5 pounds per harvest.

        13.5 pounds (9 plants 1.5 pound per plant) x 4 grows is 54 pounds a year.

Assume wholesale price at 3,500 per pound as grower just wants one transaction or 50,000 per harvest-min 4 harvests a year….

They may do say 5 harvests but only 1 pound a plant-but that attic grow should generate around 200,000 to 250,000 a year wholesale, now he’s slings it in dime bags double that to 500,000 per attic-4 attics you have a nice 2 million cash business tax free.

-i’m happy put up here a full spec state the art home grow set up-i’m available for consultation but always get a piece the back end of the grow or points-)
-i will ask the grow tech team here here if they will design/spec the best state art home grow set up and cost it out
-you could easily with small bit training and input crush those yields above, now if you did a few sexy strains or hard get exotic ones, you can charge premium pricing for ultra high THC content…

The Gardai had to act, obviously they have their priorities during the Covid pandemic. Just like how they removed the hundreds of illegal on street drinkers, that were increasing the risk of a surge in the virus last weekend, blocking Dame Lane and it’s environs. Don’t mention the same behaviour on Camden St (What do you mean the Gardai did nothing!!! ?)

There must have been hundreds of stoned Bray dwellers in a fog of “smoke” lying stoned outside the house that drew the Gardai’s attention to act.

I expect the Garda press office will advise the value of the illegal house plants are worth a minimum of 300999999665 Euro and they have saved society again in err? crushing this drug factory!

    The publicans will be happy…

I don’t know if you’re very familiar with Gaelic Games old boy, and the concept of man marking. Anyway, I think someone should come up with some term that is stronger than inferiority complex, you know the condition you have old boy. The necessity to constantly talk positively about your pal Bozo and the UK in general, it really is quite worrying old boy. Why do you need to keep talking that way? I’ll Google it to see if there’s any more accurate term for your condition.

The home grown stuff that is going around now is very strong. Like very very strong. People are going for maximising THC for the whiteout rather than the mellow buzz the boomers love. Ah, sad to see the old ways going….

I have no idea whats on the streets in Dublin, when I’m home I have friends who grow, but they have no ability to use labs,I’m not sure if the Guards do that analysis but i’d love see any data on THC levels in seizures.

      Reply
      1. Johnny

If the Guards want keep claiming seizures of ‘super high thc’ level super duper weed, they need be called out on this and provide data, many labs in Dublin can do that analysis,if they cant provide data they need stop making that claim.

THC is not toxic enough to kill you, no one has ever died from a THC over dose its about as likely as dying by ingesting too much marmalade.

We have ‘testers’ who spend their weekends doing research, there are some extremely strong THC medical products available, but that grow is not producing weed with high levels THC quite the opposite.

Its not pretty Johnny. I recently tried some of what my nephew was sold. It was stronger than anything I’ve tried since New York White. He said his friends liked to get monged, not high. Could be related to the rise in reported psychosis cases in his age group. Im all for legalising just so its regulated. (and available)

Im fairly confident that will happen in this Dail. its mentioned the PFG and the working group on the Portuguese Model gave a positive report to the Government. Its the kind of radical thing this government needs to to while it has this window of change.

What a waste of Gardai time! Weed is less destructive than alcohol by many factors. It’s time the Irish Gov’t looked at studies from UK and USA proving how harmless it is in comparison. Plus, people who try to grow their own at home probably don’t want to meet and deal with dodgy dealers, who may or may not sell tampered with drugs. or be connected to armed criminal gangs. An own goal by the Gardai. Grow up Ireland.

You are correct – but that is 100% an issue for the Dáil not the Gardaí. Send a letter to your TD and make this an election issue.

The Gardaí are there to uphold the laws.

Anyway this sort of thing may not be an “own goal” – especially if it raises awareness of the “benefits” of home-grown weed. :-)

Yes of course. It’s up to the Gov’t to take this seriously and politicians to think about wasting tax payers money and Gardai time. The money they waste on this drugs war on weed could be offset to help fund a national campaign for Childcare, so that parents do not have to spend insane amounts of money on it. Compared to other EU countries Irish parents get an incredibly raw deal. Money problems cause huge amounts of stress on a marriage too.

Was there anything in the PfG about legalisation? I know I should look but I imagine Johnny knows and will give a better breakdown of the situation than the PfG.

This investigation and seizure would require a very senior Guard sign off, it takes up part his budget. The Min sets the targets and allocates the budget, its RUC harassment style tactics, the war continues, it will be lost.

The sooner the Minister goes to work and realizes this the better, stop allocation and wasting valuable resources on a losing battle, her appointment was nepotism she is unqualified to lead her Ministry.

No laws need be changed no political careers smeared, its simple reduce the budget allocated to small ball weed seizures, if weed is seized as part of a criminal or RICO (organized crime case) great.

If not it’s a waste resources, time and energy.

Who’s setting this knock down the door with battering ram policy, to seizure 9 plants of weed you need terrorize people-sounds like looks like RUC style policing.

Asked about the Hot Press article a spokeswoman for the Department of Health told the Irish Sunday Mirror yesterday: “Minister Donnelly stands by his interview.”

Three years ago he said: “I’d like to find a way to decriminalise small quantities of weed.

“If a grown adult wants to grow a herb and then smoke it, and there are no negative consequences for other people, then they should be allowed to do that.”

-he has no power or mandate change any laws-hes a clerk issuing licenses, he can relax the laws around that and allow chronic pain and ptsd suffers qualify immediately, more that sufficient quality research and evidence available.

…some recent pieces on old slow Joe Biden and weed-Bernie was all in for free legal weed.

“Legalizing marijuana is extremely popular. So why won’t Joe Biden embrace the idea?”

    https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2020/07/biden-marijuana-pot-legalize/613777/

“Another flashpoint over marijuana ended similarly: Sanders’ team argued in private meetings that they should legalize cannabis, but that idea was rejected. One task force member described the disagreements over qualified immunity and pot as “huge battles,” and multiple people involved said the criminal justice panel presented some of the biggest challenges for compromise.”

Keep in mind this is mainly ‘rec’ or recreational weed so like in Cali/Mass/Nevada- anyone over 21 buying weed 24/7-not medical which is pretty much now widely available everywhere.
