Can anyone remember when the the so called “Irish” Daily Mail had an actual Irish picture on it’s front page. It’s obsession with the British Royals is beyond laughable.

Serious skewing of official Covid daily death statistics apparently going on in England

“Why no-one can ever recover from COVID-19 in England – a statistical anomaly”
    https://www.cebm.net/covid-19/why-no-one-can-ever-recover-from-covid-19-in-england-a-statistical-anomaly/

“People living in England have become increasingly concerned in the face of Public Health England’s (PHE) figures demonstrating a relentless daily toll of more than a hundred COVID-associated deaths several days a week (see Figure 1).

This is in stark contrast to the more reassuring recovery in neighbouring regions (Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland), where there are days with no COVID-associated deaths whatsoever.

..By the PHE definition (for counting Covid deaths), no one with COVID in England is allowed to ever recover from their illness. A patient who has tested positive, but successfully treated and discharged from hospital, will still be counted as a COVID death even if they had a heart attack or were run over by a bus three months later.”

This why the PHE figures vary substantially from day to day. For example, 16 new deaths were announced on 6th July, but the following day, 152 were reported – today’s figure is 66.”

What is worse than that is how they treat a CoVid-19 infection as though it was HIV. People clear it within 2-3 weeks and yet, all we ever hear is accumulative figures. Is it really to much to ask that those who tested positive are retested to ensure they are clear and the actual live numbers are adjusted accordingly?

      1. SOQ

Actually something has just occurred to me- the LIVE infection figure is the total infected minus the figure of 14 days ago. This has to be the over reaction of our life time.

        1. Chuckenstein

just something I noticed in The Echo. Two photo captions state that a woman is wearing a mask ‘to protect herself’ against Covid-19. This is totally inaccurate (in that the mask is to protect others) despite the beyond-extensive media coverage.

and you can tell this because of your lifetime of studying viruses and epidemics, together with statistical analysis? well aren’t we lucky that we have you to share these valuable insights

Amazing how the Russians are stealing secrets about a cure

Is the world not joining together to fight this pandemic instead of keeping tight lipped because the commies might have a cure

Is this rush for a cure the rush for a weapon where it will be like the race to develop a nuclear weapon
That the west will not share with the east and vice versa

      2. Lilly

@SOQ – Where did you get the idea that people are cleaning it within 2-3 weeks? There are plenty of longhaulers around.

        1. SOQ

Ok point taken but and it is a big BUT-

From Wiki- The severity of COVID‑19 varies. The disease may take a mild course with few or no symptoms, resembling other common upper respiratory diseases such as the common cold. Mild cases typically recover within two weeks, while those with severe or critical diseases may take three to six weeks to recover.

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coronavirus_disease_2019

So there are two groups- those with critical illness who can be counted very easily because they will be hospialised or under the care of a doctor and the vast majority who have little or no symptoms and whom will clear it within two weeks.

My point is the live infection figure is way more important than a cumulative total which actually means very little as most have cleared it.

          1. Lilly

More like 6-12 months for longhaulers – not to ‘clear it’ but to recover from symptoms – with uncertainty around long-term effects.

Nightclubs suspended indefinitely, pubs closed, church services limited to 50, shebeens threaten to open countrywide – our civilization is coming to a halt. Only one thing can save us from paralysis. Yep, it’s gotta be Dancing at the Crossroads, with cautiously distancing groups of twenty or thirty tapping the tarmac.

More botom of the barrel stenographer journalism from the British press with the ‘Russia stealing our vaccine secrets’ story.

It no coincidence these stories appear just as a Russian State Medical University reports that it has “successfully completed tests on volunteers of the world’s first vaccine against coronavirus”.

And as Caitlin Johnstone points out in the below article ‘how obnoxious and idiotic is it that coronavirus vaccine “secrets” are a even a thing (amidst a global pandemic)’.

I just wonder how many of those who love to use the “antivaxxer” smear would suddenly become one themselves when faced with taking a Russian made vaccine

It’s good craic all the same though, if you’re into that sort of thing
A bit like wearing a gimp mask during intimate congress

That’s very sad about the Gaah losing money, cue big bailout to essential cultural services while everyday highly skilled musicians, performers and artists now unemployable due to COVID 19 restriction on pubs re-opening etc are left to flounder in a morass of depression and mortgage debt, or re-qualify as bus drivers and binmen

    1. paddy apathy

It seems everyone is looking for help right now. Your potshot at the GAA says more about you. But that’s probably a badge you revel in anyway.

The Russians never stop cheating do they? Their idea of success is stealing someone else’s hard work successfully. They used to actually innovate much more in the 50’s and 60’s. Look at their recent record in sports, they got caught cheating at every level in the Olympics preparations. It has to be a directive from Putin.
