Well there’s no surprise…..Fair play to Paul for bringing the motion but it never stood a chance because FFG need to be seen to clamp down on “gougers” that their electoral base love to hate

    Hate to repeat myself but….
self employed. had PUP reduced to €203 on the 7th July. no explanation.
have contacted PUPRerate@welfare.ie everyday since with no reply.
“we’re in this together” me bollocks

further let me add in response to Clampers on a different thread-
My Chapter 4 Form 11 submitted to Revenue and forwarded to puprerate@welfare.ie declare the same.
    Have emailed them every day.
    Nothing.
    Have called the telephone number.
    – “you have to send an email”
    – ‘I have, many times”
    – ‘they’re very busy”
The PUP rerate unit is in Waterford.
    I’ve rang Waterford Social Welfare.
    – “you have to send an email”
    – “we have no phone number for that department”
Kafkaesque stuff and very very upsetting.

Also, I have emailed both the dept. of Finance & Social welfare and inland guff.
    – “we have forwarded your email to PUPRerate@welfare.ie

When things go wrong kids THAT is what you’re dealing with.
We supposedly are in this together.

      Sorry to hear that Frank.

of course, I was told in the other thread that the government *definitely* aren’t trying to massage down the figures by any means necessary!

Time to talk to Joe, or draw attention in some other way. Varadkar burning through the (undeserved) pandemic goodwill at record speed.

emailed Varadkar today as it happens & Martin.
I’m hoping Cian can give me a steer here.

Which industry do you work in? When do you think you’ll be able to return?

      1. Frank

        attached to tourist trade.
when the travellers have confidence and are allowed to return

        1. MaryLou's ArmaLite

I know a fair few in a similar position. Guest house owners, taxi drivers, tour operators etc, many don’t want to return until next year as they are elderly-ish and would be considered high risk.
