Ivan Yates interviewed Bertie Ahern recently – Yates asked him about the GFA and who played the most important role in securing it, to which Aherne replied, ‘me’.

    RIP John Hume.

I don’t have a source to cite, but I distinctly remember hearing about it after he stepped down and it does crop up now and again on Newstalk when they interview them.

Will the well Roasted Salmon be along to cheer that the EU are about to cave on a post brexit deal..? On important things: RIP John Hume, who kept the light on when all seemed lost.

Some great quotes in the papers from John Hume RIP. The world needs more thinkers like him.
