It could be worse for you, instead of knees in the paintings, there could be feet on show. With extra long toes

Of course, it may all be an elaborate double bluff and I want people to discuss manky feet….

I actually share your revulsion of dirty and badly manicured digits but can’t help myself looking, it’s like a kind of vertigo

it’s when you hit the ground when walking or running with your heel first, an affliction brought on many by the wearing of shoes, watch little kids barefoot, they never do it, anyway it throws off your body mechanics, it particularly hard on the knees ;)

I have a long leg, (two actually before Peter Cook makes his joke), and hence a long stride:
I can’t imagine walking without my heel hitting the ground first?

do you do it barefoot ? do you come down quite heavy ? try walking outside ( on a surface you may not be Uber comfy with) barefoot and see how your foot naturally lands, you may be in for a surprise :)

“To get an ideal pattern, you should strike the ground with the outer part of your heel, slightly move your foot inwards (light pronation movement) to lay it flat. From there, your body’s propulsion should be triggered by the front part of your feet for an optimal movement. However, this ideal pattern is pretty rare, ” it’s banging down on the heel bone the real problem and as you move up in speed you should land further forward ( if you want to keep those knees in shape ).

Thanks for explanation; I walk to work and am very hard on shoe heels as a result of gait. I’ll experiment!

:) it’s the balls of my shoes that crack, if anything I’m too high up when I walk but it’s grand for running, Big J light foot ..haha
