So when he purchased his ticket for the event he didn’t spot the ‘Dinner’ part?

He paid €140 for the event.
All those important people- who don’t know how to count- what happened to personal responsibility?
Rules for Thee, Not for Me!
…yeah…what did happen to personal responsibility?
I am not the one breaking my own rules- do you honestly think those people would have been there if they thought they were putting themselves at any sort of risk?
…have you ever considered politics…I can think of four parties who would welcome someone with your principles…
Actions speak louder than words- this SEASONAL virus has gone- we are being played.
So he ‘ended up’ in the situation but didn’t remove himself from it. “On learning of the proposed dinner during the day…..” ?
Golf outings like these (whether people travel hundreds of kms or not) always – always – have a meal involved. I’m sure if he looks at his invitation he will see that a meal was planned, so doubtful if he heard about it on the day. You don’t invite big wigs without feeding them.
indeed; the pigs don’t meet unless there’s a trough.
That headline should read Wigs on the green. Donie Cassidy was there too.
Psssst….. Tell them you were there to test your eyesight. 100% success rate. Keep it to yourself.
“My understanding was that the organisers and the hotel had satisfied themselves that they would be operating within Government public health guidelines”.
Aren’t these regulations (i.e. the law) and not merely what her terms “government guidelines”. Anyway, blaming the hotel and organisers is nonsense. Ignorantia juris non excusat.
So, the Independent says it got it’s hands on an invitation to this. There’s then a inconsistency in the good Judge’s not knowing ‘in advance’ of the dinner, as the invitation (as per the Indo) stated that the green fee for two days & Gala Dinner cost was €140. And to quote the invitation as per the Indo “Dinner on Wednesday night will be served in the Kylemore Suite, Station House Hotel, Clifden at 8.30pm. Presentation of prizes will take place after the dinner,”
I wonder would Mr. Woulfe like another attempt at what he wrote above (about not knowing in advance of the dinner / just hearing about it on the day)?

Plus – is the Hotel muddying the waters? – did the IHF categorically say to them that partitioning was OK? From the IHF statement, there’s no mention of that.
“In line with the protocol agreed with the Department, we advised all members that the status quo remains in terms of current operational procedures for hotels until further notice. The current guidelines around capacity at an indoor event are clear. They permit a maximum of 50 people at any one time including hotel staff and any other event support workers,” the IHF said in a statement.
(Note the ‘including hotel staff and any other event support worker’ reference too)
