What is it about these people? They get paid millions of euro over their working life (Kenny, Byrne etc.) and still return or try to return to the trough when they’re in retirement. No doubt this was a Finuchane type sop.

The money is par of the course. The perks of the entitlement.

Its the ego that drives them.

Alot of the big wigs in irish life for the past 50 years are now retiring or dying off. They alone sat the agenda and discourse in Ireland. They abided the Haugheys and Aherns because they all wined and dined with each other. They were all part of the same clique. The im alright jack brigade.

Their real skill was in perpretuating the idea of seperation of influence and accountability.

RTE Drivetime just did a brilliant job of interviewing Phil Hogans best buddies in Kilkenny and Carlow…incredulous doesn’t describe it.
GUBU might be more fitting !

Sean O’Rourke was unavailable for an interview…

The next time you hear from O’ Rourke he’ll be on newstalk where he’ll have free reign to nuture his right wing views.

he’s falling on his sword for breaking public health measures, whereas I think the bigger issue is that he’s so blatantly in the pocket of FF/FG that he goes to golf dinners with them. Literally mates with them. He wasn’t holding any of them to account on his show, he was just a mouth piece for them. Attempting to shape public opinion on those poliitcal parties. So open and shameless about it.

      Completely agreed.

And why the hell do RTE always re-employ overpaid presenters that are / were supposed to be retired?

A rotten little state broadcaster never to be trusted.

Hence that they had Sarah McInerney for the summer morning show was a surprise, given her effective probing. But of course they have since fixed that.

      Rotten, rotten, rotten.

This x 1000. A bought and paid for hack.
Money made, still not satisfied, thought he could come back to the trough for more big paydays.

Yep, government spokesperson and now it’s Byrne’s turn to spin.
Worse still we’re obliged to pay a licence fee for the privilege.
