It’s Not Too Late To Stop Now

at

Van Morrison will play three socially distanced concerts in England this Autumn but said he needs full capacity audiences “going forward”.

Van Morrison writes:

As you know, we are doing socially distanced gigs at Newcastle Upon Tyne’s Gosforth Park, Electric Ballroom and The London Palladium.

This is not a sign of compliance or acceptance of the current state of affairs, this is to get my band up and running and out of the doldrums. This is also not the answer going forward. We need to be playing to full capacity audiences going forward.

I call on my fellow singers, musicians, writers, producers, promoters and others in the industry to fight with me on this.

Come forward, stand up, fight the pseudo-science and speak up.

Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and myself appear to be the only people in the music business trying to get it back up and running again. Come forward.

It’s not economically viable to do socially distanced gigs. Come forward now, the future is now.

We would like to publish a list of names of all those who are supporting the industry. If you would like your name included contact us at webadmin@exileproductions.net

No artist can afford to tour at a loss indefinitely- he is not just talking about his own band but the entire industry.

If you seen some of the village halls Van still plays in up north- you would know he is not just about big events.

Got too see him live twice, first time was at the first Feile in Tipperary, he must have been on stage for 20 minutes before I realised he wasn’t sound checking anymore! Dreadful gig.
Then went to the Point (only because me English mate wanted too see him)
We left after about half an hour, as did other people, utterly rubbish!

    Curmudgeonly ol’ F*#t!!!!

yeah, i saw him at the point – never again. i’d say those three gigs will be a miseryfest.

I like to let Van Morrisons music do the talking more than things he says. It has always been that way

“Come forward, stand up, fight the pseudo-science and speak up”

Has he been speaking to Jim Corr again?

Yes or it could be Carl Heneghan of Oxford University or Sweden’s very own Anders Tegnell perhaps? Possibly the US front line doctors group or the 500 in Germany who are now claiming it is all a scam?

But no- musicians only talk to other musicians it appears- and we can all sneer at them because they couldn’t possibly know anything about anything other than music.

Apart from those infectious disease experts known as Jedward of course. Van may the first to call this nonsense out but he sure as hell will not be the last.

When entertainers speak about the issues of the day they are expressing personal opinions. Their fans will obviously listen to what their favourite musicians, film stars, poets and standup comedians say; but the fans need to remember that entertainers rarely have expert knowledge on the issues of the day. Fans can go on enjoying their favourite entertainers. They can take their guidance on issues from several other sources.

I would go one further than that. Actors and Musicians are the LAST people you should listen to during a Pandemic. They are so confused about the real world in normal times, especially actors my God! The stuff they have been posting to social media proves how empty, naive and desperate they are for attention, but without teams of writers and directors around them they look like wealthy idiots who are really bored and needy.

    He can talk.
Years ago (70s) I was at a Van concert…he appeared for one and a half songs and then socially distanced himself by walking off stage….end of concert…..

if it makes anyone feel better, the brother told me that he worked in van’s gaff years ago, fixing his dirty big posh fridge. his apprentice had a root through the laundry basket and nicked a pair of michelle’s unwashed scanties. i am unaware of any firther details, unfortunately.
    so there, now.

Could have been worse, could have been Old Grumpy’s.

I recently re-read two biographies by Clinton Haylin and Johnny Rogan – big door-stoppers at well over 500 pages each, so they’re very comprehensive:

Jeez he was one contrary man to work with!
