Taking The Pisa Now

at

Last night.

Stansted Airport, England.

Ryanair flight to Pisa, Italy.

Via MailOnline:

Holidaymakers were left gripping their seats in horror last night as hazmat-clad officials rushed onto a Ryanair plane as it say at London Stansted and removed a passenger after he received a text saying he had tested positive for coronavirus.

The passenger and his travel companion were taken off the plane minutes before it was due to take-off from London and moved to the airport’s isolation area, where they were met by health authorities.

Their seats and the overhead cabin bins were then disinfected before the plane was allowed to fly to Pisa in Italy one hour and 40 minutes behind schedule, according to Flight Radar.

Seems legit.

Thanks to such tiresomely hysterical monosyllabic copywriting used by rags like the Mail, no wonder some halfwits might have the kneejerk reaction that proper safety precautions being undertaken is some kind of overblown propaganda exercise.

Also who on earth are these people going on holiday to Italy right now?

      1. Plumbob

You can “feel” fit and healthy and still spread it to someone who definitely won’t feel fit and healthy, but perhaps you know better.

ary Mallon (September 23, 1869 – November 11, 1938), also known as Typhoid Mary, was an Irish-born cook believed to have infected 53 people, three of whom died, with typhoid fever, and the first person in the United States identified as an asymptomatic carrier of the disease.[1] Because she persisted in working as a cook, by which she exposed others to the disease, she was twice forcibly quarantined by authorities, and died after a total of nearly three decades in isolation.

          1. Steph Pinker

Cian, you’re nearly as insufferable as your FG alter-ego RobG who underscored; what is the matter with you? Typhoid Mary who died in 1938? And, you provide a link as well to TRY to prove a stupid point which only makes sense in *your* head?

Have a chat with yourself, or pull a Cian – either, either or neither, but that has to be one of the silliest responses I’ve ever read on BS, which is saying a lot.

The bedwetters are the ones who think this is an overreaction. Two people on a plane infect the other 150 by the time the flight lands, 150 go on to infect countless more. This is a contagious disease, despite what the woo peddlers want you to believe.

  3. Pee Pee

Is it a sense of rejection by your peers, or a sense of superiority over others, that you have these conspiratorial thoughts. When did your brain start to crack?

  4. George

Isn’t it strange how people who spend there time focussed on the imagined harm caused by things like ‘chemtrails’, vaccines, 5g, and flouride have reacted to something that is actually harmful. You’d think they’d be delighted but somehow they still aren’t happy… Its almost as if it is being contrarian is their true motivation.

    1. M

It hasn’t been actually harmful so far.

      The Lockdown has been though.

“The figures (for the UK) actually make curious reading. While the number of people dying with Covid-19 is 53 per 100,000, the number of people dying from flu, pneumonia and chronic respiratory disease were much lower than usual. Indeed, the numbers dying of flu and pneumonia was 19.1 per 100,000 lower than is usual for June. The numbers dying of chronic respiratory disease was 16.7 per 100,000 lower than is usual for June. And the number of elderly folk allegedly dying of dementia was 18.5 per 100,000 lower than usual. The dementia figure is relevant here – first, because nobody actually dies of dementia and second, because the vast majority of dementia patients are over 70 years old and so were the sort of people alleged to have died from Covid-19. The really strange thing is that if you add those three numbers together you get 54.3 per 100,000 – which is – by one of those odd little coincidences (which seem commonplace these days) almost exactly the same as the numbers dying of Covid-19.”

What an interesting insight into where you crackpots come up with your conspiracy theories ffs!

  5. Daisy Chainsaw

Simon Dolan has a touch of the Gemmas about him. Sent a 20 page letter to the courts in advance of an appearance to lift the lockdown… wants to “Keep Britain Free”. Free to die from a contagious disease so he can make more money

What kind of douche decides to take a commercial flight while waiting to hear back from a coronavirus test…

      1. Micko

His employer may have insisted on it.

That’s what mine did – I’ve been tested twice in the last month.

        He was probably completely asymptomatic

  7. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

And that is why I’ll get the ferry home at Xmas.

I flew in June, in a pretty much empty flight. It was not enjoyable. Why would anybody fly while waiting for Covid results? People are bumwipes.

    1. Micko

See above – re: employer tests

But, it’s ok for you to fly in June?

Are you mates with Phil Hogan?

Why don’t all the conspiracy theorists just get infected then tell us how good it was?

  10. an older man

I remember when the bishop & house keeper was a conspiracy. The priests & the alter boys, the babies in the pit, the IMF at the door, the soft landings, ebola & clipboard man. People forget – I remember thalidomide, the ozone layer & the polar bear. History fades we learn nothing. We are or the majority are stupid. When all else fails they bring you to war. Is this the new war, the economic reset, the new religion like Henry 8, Constantine. All economic resets packaged as religion. As the west prints it needs clients to take the loans. Is Brian Hayes the bag man with the busted banks, did Seamus get the SC for signing our freedoms away. Meet the new intolerable same as the old intolerable pray you don’t get fooled again. I am older now, both my parents died in the past from viruses – they were very old. It will take me in time, it is the way of our world. But this dystopian world is evil. The new Yellow badges. Get woke go broke – boy is Ireland going down in flames. Your hospital wards are empty, your graphs are flat – Sweden is out & Wohan is going full on and having a pool party. Paddy always has to go a goal down before waking up to play the match. I cant save you but I will try for my own issue. Some day some of you will look back, some will embrace the new serfdom as is the way with those disposed to religions. Its the easy way to be told what & how to do. Humans take the easy way like the nice trains to zyklon land. The flowers & music at the stations all so inviting. Humans are cruel creatures & I see no difference today with the forever wars and the gangs of abusers in positions of power. As for your experts. You have none only pretenders. Fake news, fake experts – look back at all the state project disasters the big ticket things we messed up. Yes you forget, each generation has its Chicken Littles. Trounce your keyboards at me, cry foul but then just think for bit. I’m not here to sneer or score anything. Just an old man saying this does not add up at all. Long & happy lives to you all.

    1. Andyourpointiswhatexactly?

The nice trains? Zyklon? The easy way?
      Your metaphors are extremely tasteless.

      1. Papi

I doubt if Henry VIII,Chicken Little and Zyklon B have ever in the history of writing been put together.

    2. George

“Humans take the easy way like the nice trains to zyklon land.”

Anti-semitic comments are ok now but you can’t swear?

    3. Steph Pinker

an older man: very Nietzschean, I like it :)

Btw, George: Nietzsche wasn’t anti-Semitic, the fundamental premise of his philosophy was about freedom of thought and the will to rise above such ideology and badness.

      1. george

By the way Steph, it is definitely anti-Semitic to refer to “comfy” trains to concentration camps as “the easy way out” even if it is supposed to be some sort of cack-handed metaphor..

    4. Junkface

So going by this thinking. Why would the whole world voluntarily wreck their economies for a virus that isn’t dangerous or very contagious? Conspiracy theorists always have the most complex reasoning for their thinking. The simplest answer is usually the correct one. There is a highly contagious virus, it is asymptomatic especially with younger age groups, it would kill so many more people if it was not tackled by isolation techniques. Medical workers need protection so they can work without the medical systems being overwhelmed by outbreaks in older age groups. Nobody would like to be in their positions (like Italy at its peak) where Doctors had to choose who gets to live or die, that’s horrible.

Yes Governments in our part of the world are usually run by millionaires or quite wealthy people, and the middle classes have been crushed under their brand of Neo-conservative and Neo-liberal economics, creating two generations or more that will never reach the wealth of their parents. That’s a sure sign of a broken, corrupt, economic system, but it does not mean that leaders all over the world would wreck their economies for entirely avoidable reasons, or that Medical Scientists would willingly mislead everybody for some mysterious reason. It makes no sense.

        1. Micko

You think it’s not political and yet you label everyone who doesn’t agree with you about this virus as “a tin foil hat wearing 5G nut bar”

Clearly no here believes those things. Of course the virus is dangerous. But how dangerous?

I think it has been a massive overreaction. A huge (genuine) mistake by global political leaders.

And everyone knows that making a mistake nowadays is unacceptable and political suicide.

We all want to get back to normal, but your argument is not helped by you labelling everyone who doesn’t agree with you as a science denying moron.

          1. Junkface

So! Now we have a theory that rather than admitting a huge mistake, world leaders would instead destroy their economies, create mass unemployment, destroy tourism, destroy small businesses, force mass evictions for rental markets, even cancel the Olympics and other huge Sports events, creating massive debts for generations to come????

            Eureka!!

          2. Micko

Yep, go ahead and label me as stupid.

It’s the only way you know how to win.

Dialogue is beyond you, you’re so smart.

          3. Cian

@Micko – I was being sarcastic, I linked to Dr Strangelove!

Saying that, you seem to be suggesting that this is a global conspiracy – that there was “A huge (genuine) mistake by global political leaders.” But they can’t/won’t admit is.

Are you saying that all global leaders know they over-reacted but are continuing this charade because they won’t back down?
Are you saying the scientists/experts are in cahoots with them?

          4. f_lawless

Sweden is the control group that shows governments didn’t have to shut down societies and economies

I think what we’re witnessing is likely an extremely complex phenomenon with a whole range of contributing influences and factors. Maybe there are some people in government who continue to believe (mistakenly?) it was right to impose extended lockdowns. Maybe there is a cabal of elite global policy makers who are working with the financial institutions of the world to implement a “Great Reset” of the world economies and part of this involves a controlled demolition phase which we are witnessing now? Maybe there those in government who now realise that their policy decisions were an overreaction but nevertheless rather than publicly admit this (political suicide for them) they’re now on the hook of this ‘Great Reset’ plan and are prepared to go along with it for now because that’s what most other countries are doing..Maybe science is being politicised in some areas? Who knows? ..I could go on and on

I think the reality is though, we’re never going to know the full story and trying to come up with a comprehensive theory to explain it all is unachievable. It’s naive to think what we’re witnessing can all be explained with a simple answer and smearing others with putdown labels is just an expression of insecurity.

This piece has a few valid insights ,I think:

        2. Micko

Fair enough Cian. Strangelove is still on my to watch list – havn’t quite got around to it.

Honestly, about the virus – I don’t know, no one does. But in my mind one of three things are probably true. There may be more options, probably

          Anyway:

          1) This is a terrible virus and has the potemtial to wipe out tens of millions. (Looking at the data now we know that this probably isn’t true. Survival rates in the high 90% etc)

          2) It has been a massive overeaction from world governments and they are now scrambling to get out of this situation without looking like they crashed the global economy because of an overreaction. (I hope this is the truth)

          3) It is a tyranical move by elements in world governments to bring in more control and usher in a police state like China.

I really hope that option 3 is not the truth, but when I see stuff like this being touted about I get a tad worried https://www.newstalk.com/news/irish-company-health-passport-1067622

Anyway, I hope we can all agree that we’re all just trying to get out of the poo and get back to normality, and that no one knows what’s really going on. Probably least of all world leaders ;-)

  11. f_lawless

Surely if you were to follow this through to its (il)logical conclusion, according to the definition of a “close contact”, all those people who were in close proximity to the confirmed case on that flight should have also been removed and asked to immediately self-isolate until tested and confirmed to be Covid-free? Why wasn’t this done? It’s a thundering disgrace

  12. John Smith

    @f_lawless

    Apparently considered unnecessary:

‘Since this passenger and his companion had complied fully with Ryanair health regulations, they were both wearing masks at all times at Stansted Airport and for the very short period (less than 10 minutes) they were seated on the aircraft prior to departure.

‘There was little if any risk of Covid-19 transmission to other passengers or crew members as all of whom were also wearing face masks at all times.’ Ryanair spokesman (Daily Mail)

Oh, yes, and the seats, etc, were disinfected so no problems!!!

One rule for this situation and a completely different one for that. All as per normal.

    1. Micko

Sky News have a passenger who says he was on for half and hour before the “team” showed up.

      https://news.sky.com/story/amp/coronavirus-hazmat-officials-remove-man-from-ryanair-flight-after-text-tells-him-of-positive-covid-19-test-result-12057854

Even if he was only on for 10 mins – did he bloody teleport onto the plane?

He was in the Terminal, the toilets, the stairs to the runway, and the hustle and bustle of stowing overhead luggage, people moving past him, with him breathing his filthy germs everywhere… oh my.

      1. John Smith

What I don’t understand is how the ‘team’ knew about his result. I can’t find an explanation of that in the coverage. Has it been explained anywhere?

        1. Micko

No. I can’t find it either.

I guess he told them himself. Most likely.

I doubt the Covid tracing app is that good ;-)

          1. Steph Pinker

George: did he get a text? Or a phone call? How do you know? Even if it did happen as you say – that has to be the quickest medical response in history since the gunfight at the O.K. Corral…

          2. george

The reporting of the story says he got a text. If you haven’t bothered to read the post then why comment?

Presumably the airport had a plan in place to deal with this situation and put it into practice once informed of the situation by the crew. They removed the guy just before take off so probably within 15-20mins of boarding.
