“But the one thing historically people need to realise is that even if there is some asymptomatic transmission, in all the history of respiratory viruses of any type, asymptomatic transmission has never been the driver of outbreaks. The driver of outbreaks is always a symptomatic person. Even if there’s a rare asymptomatic person that might transmit, an epidemic is not driven by asymptomatic carriers.”

The good news there is that Fauci’s influence appears to be waning.
Trump ‘counters’ Fauci by introducing new coronavirus advisor
The appointment comes as Mr Trump’s relationship with a number of the current members of the task force continues to break down, namely Dr Fauci and Dr Deborah Birx.
The president has regularly criticised the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases on a number of occasions over the last few months, saying that “has made a lot of mistakes” and is a “little bit of an alarmist”.
Don’t be shy about introducing Trump’s new Coronavirus advisor there Same’oh

Btw if anyone wants to see what a 150 + of CV looks like
Check out Scott Atlas – Link on my Twitter
Yes I agree- the whole thing is about big bucks and vested interests but on this occasion Atlas is taking a very different stance to Fauci. I suspect it is Atlas’s influence which has brought about the end of testing of asymptomatic people which in turn will knock this whole ‘casedemic’ thing on the head.
Trump’s is running with the hare and hunting with hounds- which is something he is very good at- he is making all the right noises about hydroxychloroquine but has yet to make it an over the counter medicine. On the other hand he is fully behind a fast tracked vaccine.
Roman Catholic Church has never liked the poor and always liked money. Not sure how jesus teachings fit in, but what the pipes and archbishops say goes
It’s not one of their regular papers so why would they, other than to let people like you spaff themselves into unconsciousness over it?
Ghost of Yep
I didn’t really expect them to Daisy. Just that the republishing of the cartoons I would consider big news and thought it may start an interesting and insightful conversation.
Seeing as yourself and Davin have replied I see that neither is possible.
Keep wetting your knickers in anger at the thought of someone holding rosary beads and quietly praying across the street from the Coombe while shouting racist/fascist or whatever nonsense label you want to use when someone wants to have an adult conversation about Islam.
Have a wonderful day. I imagine it’s warm and dry on that high horse of yours.

Cian
Number of confirmed Covid cases in hospitals increased again today to 36, the highest number since 24th June.
“217 positive tests for CoVid reported today but 10 days with no reported deaths. Similar pattern across Europe. Second wave of cases started months ago but at this point there’s no significant second wave of illness, hospitalisation or death.”
Response by Ivor Cummings
“Simple – the science is known for centuries – only denied in the anti-scientific era that started April 2020 (for some reason)”
Then a retweet from Aug 14.
“1. Most Susceptible have passed already (~500 per million, mostly aged / co-morbid)
2. Community Immunity has developed
3. Seasonally, mammalian/human immune system function increases
4. Some more smaller factors As it is…so has it always been.”
Sooner or later they are going to have to admit that there will not be a second wave as predicted and amend their strategy accordingly. If this has been replicated and at a further stage across Europe then surely the easing of restrictions should follow suit?
Cian
Yes, but the number in hospital has been rising steadily for the last 4 weeks.

If you mean on average by 1 or 2 a day then yes but how many cancer patients have had their treatments postponed because of this nonsense?
GiggidyGoo
Has the rate of admissions per day increased on average? Up to 8th August there were 3364 admissions. Approx 160 days. Average 21 admissions per day.
Now here’s a clip of Tony Fauci worth watching:

My comment was more about Faci than Atlas.

His priority is to get re-elected.
Getting relected is a stepping stone, or a project benchmark to be achieved
The priority is still Money
Deep State cabals and swamps and conspiracies, QAnon Theories and Rallies are only tools
Or methods if you like
Ultimately they all share that same priority
Money
I wonder if the same applies in Ireland:

Roman Catholic Church has never liked the poor and always liked money. Not sure how jesus teachings fit in, but what the pipes and archbishops say goes
…in fairness, the church in Ireland don’t seem to distinguish between rich and poor…they operate control over 95 percent of primary schools…
The Catholic Church is a business
Good and bad
It’s still a business
