Same Old Storey

at

This afternoon.

The Dáil at the Convention Centre, Dublin.

Questioned about the public health system being possibly overwhelmed this Winter, Tanaiste Leo Varadkar adopts the traditional route and blames Sinn Féin.

Never gets old.

Meanwhile…

Fight!

He’s very wrong…he’s a fuppin child…did he call for the resignation of Charlie ‘the clown’ Flanagan or Gerry Craughwell or other blueshirt lackies for attending the Horkan funeral on the other side of the country during the height of the national lockdown…not to mention questioning the US Ambassador about the attendance of serving, uniformed NYPD officers who flew in that morning from the city at the epicentre of the US outbreaks and who clearly didn’t follow govt’ guidelines by isolating for 14 days…the same govt’ guidelines breached by the then justice minister.

Don’t bother with the ‘funeral of a national hero’ bullcrap.
same as golfgate…one rule for the blueshirt rats…fupp everyone else.

Lack of social distancing at Horkan funeral good
Lack of social distancing at Storey funeral bad.

If behaviour at the latter is a resignation matter, then it absolutely has to be at the former, otherwise it’s just double standards.

      2. Rob_G

In that case, will you be calling for Michelle O’Neill and Mary Lou to resign along with Craughwell and Flanagan? Or is it only bad when someone other than SF does it?

        1. Praetorian.

Why is it FG/FF didn’t get called out for Horkan funeral with zero social distancing but yet people call out SF at a funeral in a differant juristiction.
          Double standards…hypocrites.

          1. Rob_G

Well, it’s part of Charlie Flanagan’s actual job to turn up to attend the funeral of a Garda who was murdered; a lot of people would argue that Mary Lou has more important functions to attend to than turning up in another jurisdiction to attend the funeral of a dead terrorist.

Again – why are you getting so exercised about one funeral, but not the other?

          2. Praetorian.

Again…it’s his job as justice minister at the time to obey the law of the land he legislated for….

            badum tish….
            done.

It’s fierce quiet in here today.

Remember all the heat generated by #golfgate? All the BS calls for resignations and heads to roll?
    Where are those people now?

    1. George

What are you talking about? He is being asked about what is happening in meat plants now to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and is trying to deflect the question by waffling about an event that can’t spread Covid-19 because its long over.

      1. Cian

Nope. He answered the question first:
I thank the Deputy for asking this important question and I will do my best to clarify the situation. The HSE commenced a programme of serial testing in meat and food production plants on 21 August. Since then, 13,000 tests have been carried out and 34 cases were detected. The testing of staff at meat and food processing plants has not been cancelled, it has been rescheduled for next week. That decision was made by the HSE. I do not know at what point the various Ministers were informed.

The HSE carries out surveillance testing every few weeks in places where there is a high risk of an outbreak, such as nursing homes, direct provision centres and meat and food processing plants. The HSE is essentially hunting for the virus and testing people who have no symptoms. The number of positive tests that have come back is very small.

At times of high demand, when many patients with symptoms need to be tested, those people have to be prioritised and that is what has happened in the past couple of days. There has been a surge in demand for tests from people with symptoms who must be prioritised. Of course, if somebody in a nursing home, meat plant or direct provision accommodation centre has symptoms, they are also prioritised for obvious reasons.

We are waiting for further developments about the political, financial and judicial love- in Clifden. The non-adherence to guidelines served as the catalyst to bring this meeting of snouts in the trough into focus. If you think that the covid guidelines aspect is what really interests people, you’re wrong.

        1. GiggidyGoo

How did you read that into my comment?

In case you missed it – “If you think that the covid guidelines aspect is what really interests people, you’re wrong.”
I’m sure you realize that, but still try diversion, deception etc. You’ve had a poor attempt at it this time mind you

        2. Hamish

As a staunch hater of Sinn Fein personally I do not give a rats if they get into power now

How worse could they be than this shower of brain dead idiots

Since the state was founded we have never been under such a threat from both brexit and covid 19

And what’s going on in the corridors of power disturbs me

As a nation we are facing an abyss and no mater how much we ignore it it is not going away

        3. Murtles

Calm down Cian, just cause your Uncle Leo is getting a few digs, that’s part and parcel of being in politics. When you’re elected on the 15th count you’ll know.

Varadkar really needs to get a new scriptwriter/s The current bunch have flogged to death the deflection tactics of blaming Sinn Feiin for everything. It really highlights what an amateur politician Vardakar is, the mean streak comes out in him and its very revealing how poor of a debater he is resorting to the same old tropes. At this stage FFFGGP are fooling no one with such inanities.

The lack of serious testing and the pressure put on very low paid workers to stay in work when sick in the covid hot spots of Fine Gael’s party backers meat plants is a disgrace. FFFGGP should be ashamed of themselves, it’s long past time for change, The Greenwash party really need to dump their pro FG neo-liberal leadership if they hope to hold onto any seats in the next election.

  3. GiggidyGoo

The blaming of SF for everything and anything has backfired on Leokins over the past while.
Just to bring it bad on track then – The Cervical Cancer testing scandal. Now kindly FO Varadkar

      1. Janet, dreams of big guns

oh silly me it’s because he doesn’t have any morals, sense of civic duty, responsabilité, deceny or shame ?

      2. Hamish

He might not have one but the new hospital that is being built at double the cost of the most expensive one built in I believe Sweden actually looks like one from space
        The elliptical design
So there you are Leo’s legacy

      1. GiggidyGoo

You mean Classic Varadkar. The diversion and whataboutery to SF at every hands turn.

Nice to know you FGers consider the Cervical Cancer Testing SCANDAL, “whataboutery” FG have blood on their hands Cian.

        1. GiggidyGoo

Isn’t that exactly what Varadkar tries to do? But still, as per usual, the FG frape room guys find it funny and make light of what Simon Harris, Varadkar and company have visited on women.
          LOL? yeah right!
Doubling up on the laughs eh?
