hm. 3x turboprop passenger planes. it seems an oddball aircraft to buy in. what is their purpose I wonder? the expeditious removal of failed asylum seekers given the current absence of commercial flights?
or is it simply for our political class to arrive in style again?
No we don’t deport failed asylum seekers here, we’ll give them houses for free when direct provision is finally ended.
The 10,000 homeless Irish can go to hell.
ah the old “they give them forrgners a free house” lies
How much do they pay for them?
It’s a search & rescue / reconnaisance / medevac plane

It’s the Spectre edition. If it’s good enough for bond villains then it’s good enough for us!

Arrive in style? In a turboprop?! Funny.
What rank is the person who has to give the prop a good pull to start the thing up ?
On the plus side Rockall is now safe from aerial attack.
if they’re looking for a lad with strong wrists, you’re their man
lol…
:-J
Heh x Chocks away.
ROFL!
You can’t pull start a turbine engine.
Usually it’s quite complicated to start a turbine (start it too hot and it blows up)
But this engine PT6E has an idiot proof push button start and single throttle control for engine and prop pitch)

Probably the most sophisticated yokes we’ve ever had.
The shape, the colour, the name, the tech!
coveney loves wasting our money. a gurrier is all he is
+1
The Air-Corp wanted some new apparatus.
So they got three new planes from Pilatus.
Though they have a propeller,
their performance is stellar
as they speed through the cumulo-stratus
…so, do I win one?
Top marks for effort Paulus.
Maybe a wooden one.
A bit strange unveiling new toys in a recession but I would imagine they were ordered and paid for, hopefully out of necessity, some months ago..
Probably patrol and reconnaissance planes… maybe even fast-tracked to keep any more salmon’s from getting through the net?…
– (If you’re talking about him he’ll take it as winning but I couldn’t resist…)
:-J
The contract was signed December 2017.
The extra one wasn’t ordered in 2017 though.
This says otherwise
https://flyinginireland.com/2017/12/air-corps-announce-the-purchase-of-3-pilatus-pc-12s/
Likewise, this says otherwise to your post.
https://flyinginireland.com/2020/04/air-corps-to-take-delivery-of-pilatus-pc-12-today%EF%BB%BF/
The initial three were ordered in 2017. The fourth wasn’t. It was procured this year to help with the corona virus response. Maybe ask ex junior Paul Kehoe?
There were 3 planes ordered in 2017;
There were 3 planes delivered this week.
I don’t know what “extra one” you are talking about.
Read my link then, the article dated 2nd April 2020. The first sentence of the article
“It is understood that the Irish Air Corps will be taking delivery of a new Pilatus PC-12 today, Thursday 2nd April. In December 2017, the Air Corps announced the purchase of 3 Pilatus PC-12’s however it is understood the aircraft being delivered today is an additional aircraft recently procured by the Department of Defence.
(Bold Italics are great)
So the extra aircraft was nothing to do with this delivery or this order?
and yes, Bold Italics rock.
You figured out then what the extra one. As in four bought rather than three. Aaaaand the usual diversion. Suddenly talking about a contract rather than a number. You and Rob aren’t on form at all these days. Zoom meeting required. ROFL!
Ah.. there you have it, backed up straight from the source, via agent neo-data for the department of F-f/g stats, information and perception managment itself :P
No need to question a source, or it’s validitity, you can guarantee it’s correct… Like an algorithm ready to go..
Once you learn to understand it better and get used to it, it’s handy like a useful app notification…
:-J
It’s the usual diversion, distraction attempt.
totally.
A post about the delivery of 3 planes.
Someone asks about the timing and when they were ordered
someone answers (accurately and succinctly).
O.M.G. diversion,
O.M.G distraction
diversion and distraction
#bolditalics is the best
A post about unveiling new toys. Four of these planes were bought. So your answer wasn’t very accurate as three were ordered in 2017, and a fourth bought this year. Diversion and distraction.
Thanks, pet.
North Korea will now think twice about incursions into Irish airspace. We can do our Christmas shopping calmly.
No need..
Apparently, they already have an underground bunker army of hackers(mind slaves) but evading radar / satellite surveillance so the details are vague…
Pilots and fighter jets are already on the way out to make way for the killer robot drones controlled remotely by online gaming ethusiasts…
:-J
i knew the spire on o’connell street is being used for nefarious purposes..
I can’t tell if this is satire
Genuine question, do the Irish Air Force have any jets?
No.
Technically it’s the Air Corps.
This is a list of aircraft: https://www.military.ie/en/who-we-are/air-corps/the-fleet/
…do the drones not qualify as part of the fleet?
1 jet, a Learjet 45 aka the government jet
https://www.military.ie/en/who-we-are/air-corps/the-fleet/learjet-45/
Oops. I missed that.
+1
That came to Oslo for the Nobel and broke down at Gardemoen, Enda stuck there for about five hours and the pilot was passing by with a hammer in his hand.
“No” sounded very certain. Did you bother checking?, or were you just trying to get away with a lie, distraction or diversion? GIYF
It was an honest mistake. Which I then acknowledged.
“Technically” then?
Rory O’Connor,GOC Air Corps…started as an apprentice in Baldonnel, then joined the cadet school to become a pilot…now a brigader general…a gent, great guy.
Mark Mellet…FOCNS now Chief of Staff…possibley the worst COS the Defence Forces ever had.
Jaqui McCrum…the secretary at Defence…another number crunching, pencil pushing career civil servant with zero military background or experience.
And then Coveney….a sap.
It’s hard to beat those who come up through the ranks…in any field.
phil neville?
I’m almost a sports-free zone so I’ll defer to you on this Scottser.
You forgot Kehoe
Ok ok apart from Neville and Keogh(?), what have the Romans ever done for us?
Paul Kehoe. He wouldn’t make it onto the Romans list.
Hey Praetorian, the military analysts in Pyongyang have put that data into their computer.
Let’s cut to the chase.
Whatever Mickey Mouse crop-sprayers the Air Corp buy the fact is the airspace over your noggins at the moment is protected by the boys and girls of the Royal Air Force.
I don’t say this to trigger you poor saps but just as a simple statement of fact.
Heh x 633.
Why are you even in this country…
It’s his inferiority complex. He’s on 7.5 today on the Sure Have Inferiority Troubles meter. He hit 9.8 earlier in the week.
Same reason as you Praetorian.
Express an opinion, have some bantz, not take it too seriously.
Chill bro.
It’s just the internet. Not real life.
I mean in real life I’m sat overlooking a harbour full of multi-million pound yachts about 3000 miles from Ireland smoking a Cohiba and drinking a vodka martini.
This Broadsheet stuff is just a folderol.
An amusement.
You mustn’t take it too seriously.
