Any complaints so far about the lack of an Irish picture on the front of the Mail ?
    You’ll never muzzle the Irish.

    1. Nigel

YES! That should make it more difficult for trans people to change their gender on official documentation! Take that, trans people! That’ll remind you how much you’re hated just for existing!

      1. Clampers Outside

You’re an idiot. The new path makes transition cheaper making it easier for actual trans persons, as opposed to Self ID nonsense.

In other words, this is good news for trans individuals.

        Jeeez… you’re some tulip.

      2. Clampers Outside

As Nigel doesn’t even seem to know what he is arguing about, here’s a simple explainer of the woke view on gender/Self ID:

The woke think “identities” (gay, straight, black, white, etc) are socially constructs: concepts that are products of human definition and interpretation shaped by cultural and historical contexts. This can be confusing, so let’s see how it works using gender as an example.

Most of us think that as a matter of simple biology:

        1. Healthy Men have penises, testicles, male gonads and make sperm

        2. Healthy Women have wombs, vaginas, female gonads and make eggs

        3. Most Men are bigger and stronger than women

This is NOT what the woke think…

The woke think “man” and “woman” are SOCIAL terms referring to PURELY social roles enforced by social rules. These terms are, in woke land, divorced from any biological reality. For them, being a man or a woman is about how one is “socially located”, and NOT about biology.

In the minds of the woke, talking about a “biological man” is a bit like talking about a “biological police officer” or a “biological Mayor.” Because, like mayors and cops, being a man or a woman is about social role…not biology.

In fact, the woke are so opposed to talking about men and women in terms of biology that they have began to call women “those who have vaginas” or “Menstruators” or “people with a cervix”.

That is how far they are willing to go to sperate the ideas of men and women from biology.

This view of gender comes out of what is called “queer theory” ( a subset for want of a better word, of “Critical Theory”).

Queer theory says gender roles were created in society by straight men to get women to behave in ways that allow straight men to keep all the power. Queer theorists think gender roles are social and psychological prisons, a form of control keeping people from being truly free.

The Queer Theorists say the answer is to “deconstruct” the categories of sex, gender, and sexuality by arguing that the terms are absurd, meaningless, ridiculous, out of date, or needless so that they stop being used to oppress people and hold them down. In other words…

The queer theorists want to make the categories of sex and gender to be so fluid and unstable that anyone can be anything and it doesn’t matter. That way nobody is forced to be something they want to be because of whatever genitals they happen to have…

This explains why a person can be Transgender. As gender is theorized as a system of control and oppresion, switching genders is viewed as a way to liberate oneself from an oppresive gender system by refusing to accept the gender assigned on the basis of ones genitals.

So as you can see, transgenderism fits perfectly with how identity is viewed by the woke as they get it from Queer theory.

So that is how gender is theorized by the woke.

        – – – –

The above was taken from a thread on Wokism and how it views gender, sex and race.

I’ve only taken the part that explains the woke view of gender and sex as that is what Nigel be woowooing.

Full thread here for anyone interested…. https://twitter.com/wokal_distance/status/1297057378953621511?s=19

        1. Nigel

Ah, yes, what the ‘woke’ think. That really does look like something actually written by an actual ‘woke’ person (whatever that is) to actually describe their ‘actual’ views. Wokesplaining.

‘This explains why a person can be Transgender. As gender is theorized as a system of control and oppresion, switching genders is viewed as a way to liberate oneself from an oppresive gender system by refusing to accept the gender assigned on the basis of ones genitals.’

And here was me thinking gender dysphoria played a role. But I guess you’re the expert on what I think. Thans fpr Nigelsplaining.

          1. Clampers Outside

Yes, Nigel, this is the origin of the claptrap you advocate for. You wouldn’t be spouting such nonsense if it wasn’t for this pseudo-scientific tosh.

          2. Clampers Outside

LOL with the “wokesplaining” though, that was funny :)
It is a shame that the woowoo you advocate for has to be explained to you.

          3. Nigel

The ‘origin’ of… what? The idea that gender roles are often socially determined is hardly controversial, otherwise we wouldn’t now have female doctors or lawyers or university professors, roles that were once said to be beyond women’s capabilities. Is the existence of trans people such a threat to rigid ideas of biological determinism that you have to exert as much control over them as possible to limit their rights and choices? Seems like a dangerous and highly opressive over-reaction to me.

          4. Clampers Outside

After your question at the start, the rest of that comment is you talking to the inside of your head, spouting nonsense you wished I’d said.

Thanks for the giggles though :)

          5. Nigel

Yes, it is a shame that I need you to explain to me what my views are, or that you insist on going to such lengths to explain to me what my views are to me in every interaction on this subject.

          6. Clampers Outside

Well, when you clearly, and have demonstrated on numerous times, not actually know what you are advocating for, then, well, yeah, it should be explained to you.

          7. Nigel

No, Clamps, they’re mostly other questions. Conversations often involve people asking questions of each other, especially if they find the views expressed odd or troublesome. Stuff in my words is stuff I said. I know you prefer to avoid responding to them directly, but you really need to get hold of the idea that the things I say are the things I say.

‘it should be explained to you’

Hmm, why does the phrase ‘spouting nonsense you wish I’d said’ come to mind?

          8. Clampers Outside

I know the things you said Nigel, and these are the origins of those ideas that you spout.

I’m off out now to enjoy the sun, see ya!

          9. Nigel

You claim to know them, despite some evidence to the contrary, you just can’t answer them except by assertion. Enjoy the sun – your brain is only half-cooked if this is anything to go by.

        2. Nigel

‘In fact, the woke are so opposed to talking about men and women in terms of biology that they have began to call women “those who have vaginas” or “Menstruators” or “people with a cervix”. ‘

Yes, everyvbody. This is how you wil know if you are talking to a ‘woke’ person. They will say, ‘Hey, did ye year what the aul menstruator down the road said the other day?’ Or tell you about an interaction with a ‘one who has a vagina’ at the shop, or commiserate with you after a bereavement by telling you that your mother was a ‘lovely person with a cervix.’

          1. Clampers Outside

The phrases in that second paragraph can already be found in official documents on HSE and were (maybe still are, but yet to be removed) on NHS documents. The HSE don’t even use the word woman in reference to info on gynaecological matters. But hey, you be youon that.
Sooner the nonsense stops the better.

          2. Nigel

The HSE is woke, now? Or is it just the use of medical terms in a medical context that marks people out as woke? ‘Woke’ people are biologically accurate people? I thought they rejected biology? So confusing. You’re quoting medical professionals in official documentation to describe the casual usage of an ill-defined group of people? I think your thesis might be a bit of a muddle.

          3. Nigel

Using medical language that is biolgogically accurate is pseudo-science? But you also said ‘woke’ people use this language. All of them? Some of them? Casually? Or just in academic or medical discussions?

          4. Nigel

That is what you said. Or rather, that is a response to what you said. Now you respond to what I said, and the conversation moves forward, or you just dissolve into evasion and avoidance and umbrage.

          1. Ian-Oh

Yes sarcasm although its not like I was trying to disguise it.

Must be terrible being so oppressed. You should really have that looked at.

          2. Pat Mustard

From the man who throws a wobbly at perceived slights against health care workers and the perceived misuse of the word syndrome.

You’re in no position to lecture anyone on they’re meant fitness.

            Lamentable

          3. Ian-Oh

@Pat – What does ‘they’re mental fitness” mean? That they actually embody mental fitness?

            Or just a typo?

            Lamentable.

    2. Q Celt

Good news, hopefully this will make it harder for confused teenagers to permanently harm themselves (over 90% of teenagers who feel they are trans revert to their genetic sex by early 20s). And help to protect safe spaces and sports for genetic women

      1. Nigel

Hopefully this will make children experiencing expriencing gender dysphoria feel even more marginaklised, alienated and freakish, stop all those horrific acts of violence committed by trans women on cis women in so-called safe spaces, and finally maybe a cis woman will finally win a so-called ‘woman’s’ sporting event.

        1. Clampers Outside

It’ll stop the children being experimented on by stopping the “affirmation” approach to care that you have supported numerous times on here. And will see more research – physiological and psychological – based approached adopted which will ensure genuine cases will get treatment and those with mental health concerns are not turned into sterile guinea Pigs in the name of TRA activism that you promote.

          1. Nigel

Yes, I’m sure kids with gender dysphoria being told that they’re probably suffering mental health problems rather than what they tell people they’re experiencing will be great for their wellbeing.

          1. Nigel

Look, so long as trans women are denied safe spaces and left even more vulnerable, that’s all that matters, right?

Weird, though, that you of all people would link so approvingly to a thread that highlights how much more violent men are than women. Anything to have a go at trans people, eh?

          2. Clampers Outside

No Nigel. As I’ve always said, there is nothing in them having their own space and no need to be taking women’s hard won spaces.

Nothing weird about it. How you came to the idea is what is weird… Another example of SWYAS from you… What a joke your argumentation truly is.

          3. Nigel

They’ve always shared other women’s spaces. Excluding them now is brutal

So it ISN’T weird that you would link approvingly to a thread about how overwhelmingly more violent men are than women in order to have a go at trans people? Ok.

  2. Charger Salmons

I hope the NHS have finalised their national tik tok strategy for the Autumn surge.
I’m looking forward to a group of nurses recreating the Ashley Banjo routine on the death of George Floyd that was so popular on Britain’s Got Talent last week.
BLM and Antifa attacking innocent people might be more problematic but if the Second Wave is anything like the first they’ll have plenty of time on their hands to rehearse.

    1. V AKA Frilly Keane

They’ll definitely be dancing soon enough
When that 350 mill a week top up – or was it more than that Brexit Britain were promised?
      Here – you check

All the dancing NHS staff should do an Albert Hall show
Now that they’ll have the resources
      (◔‿◔)

I might even revisit a few offers I had back on the day
Why wouldn’t I with that kinda money sploshing around the NHS hospitals budgets from January

    1. Charger Salmons

I was waiting for my breakfast to be served.
What better way to start the day than trigger the usual suspects like yourself on here.
A VERY long Sunday lunch beckons soon so you’ll be safe to trill away for a few hours.
Toodles. There a glass of chilled Widow Ponsardin with my name on it.

      1. Brother Barnabas

it’s nice to see an englishman go beyond M&S’s sparkling wine selection – good value in a pack of 3, they say. widow clicquot generally dismissed as “too dry” for the little englander palate. I commend you, charger.

      2. V AKA Frilly Keane

        You were yeah Charage

I can see you now using the heel of last week’s pan under the grill with an easy single, and brown sauce

With Jaylo’s Hustlers ready to go on the Amazon Prime
You’ll wait till it’s over before you have your shower n’all

    2. GiggidyGoo

He’s feeling a tad insecure, irrelevant and inferior. The bedsit and baked beans done on the single ring portable gas cooker and the double strength diluted orange are taking their toll. Oh to dream of a place 3000 miles away and hammocks on a boat. Walter Mitty, eat your heart out.

    3. Ian-Oh

Whats funniest is that he gets so little attention he will take anything including negative attention.

Personally I enjoy the little tidbits about his supposedly exalted existence that regularly contradict each other. Makes for fun reading.

Tune in next week to read up on his latest wacky adventures where he’s quaffing elusive vino on the summit of Mont Blanc with a Bond babe on one arm (in a bikini no less!) While reading up on the latest travesties commited by the damned Bosch!

All this with a glimpse of the Mater in his peripheral the whole time. Hilarity ensues!

      1. bisted

…Edward Snowden showed that uncle Sam knew all about you long before you volunteered your info to Facebook…if Cambridge Analytics were smart enough to compile info from social media sites then I’m sure much smarter players could do the same…if they could be bothered…

  3. V AKA Frilly Keane

    Love this story
    https://www.ft.com/content/22708031-ac92-43af-ae58-11016be2890e?shareType=nongift

Dunno if anyone remembers a late Frilly Keane thing – published elsewhere since
From Christmas 2016 – t’was meant to be an Urbi et Orbi thingie; anyway

Earlier this week I heard that the number being put on how many might have drowned in their attempts to reach Europe in 2016 was 5,000.

    5,000

5,000 lives that no matter how shittie it turned out for, the owners of those 5,000 lives still thought t’was worth the risk.

So I’m here on Christmas Day to say fxxx Brexit, fxxx any Church using School places to proselytize, fxxx Trump and his rapidly spreading intolerance, and fxxx the Irish League of Hating everyone not white and Catholic.

I don’t care what ye all have ta’ say

I don’t care who is appalled or outraged or livid by what they all have ta’ say.

    5,000

There is always room at the inn.

    For anyone who has returned to their home towns and villages of not Dublin this week, ask around;

Has your old school lost any teachers in the student: teacher calculation stakes?
Has the Club bin’ able to field teams in all age groups?
    Are there idle residential properties?

If yes to all 3 – in your own community; then let’s do what we really do best as Paddies : Exceed expectations when it comes to helping those that everyone else ignores, forgets or dislikes.

    I’m here to reach out.

There is plenty room in this inn

The more the merrier lads, the more the merrier.

    Nollaig Shona everyone

Keep the keys at home and remember if you don’t have Christmas in your heart, you won’t find it under the tree.

    Enjoy the ‘wran

Hope ye don’t mind me stitching it in to yere Sunday Papers
But I still think it’s doable here

    1. scottser

Very interesting article in the guardian a few weeks ago on frau merkel’s immigration gamble which is paying off nicely. 70% of immigrants from Syria are either working or in education. I’ll try root out a link later on.

  4. SOQ

Interesting footage of yesterday’s anti Mandate rally in London- full speeches taken down by YouTube- well they would be now wouldn’t they? Well organised groups of men mobilised to form human barriers on direction from the stage at each point where the police tried to gain entry.

I expect there is quite a lot of reservations within the police themselves of course as they would be deemed front line workers so one of the first to get whatever vaccine is produced.

One thing quite notable is the lack of ‘far right’ slurs being thrown by the media now- probably because anyone with half a brain can see that there was no way most of that crowd were anything right wing- unless crusty dreadlocks have become a fascist hairstyle these days.

    1. SOQ

Here is an interesting video- the lady sounds eastern European but it shows a fair representation of the attendees I think, including a legalise cannabis t shirt stall and what looks like a rap group taking the opportunity to make a video in from of a police line- and sure why not? You are given lemons you make lemonade etc.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dD1u25lOXI

Delores Cahill speaking in the background btw.

  5. Nigel

The left – opresses people through ‘canceling’ different views by disagreeing with people on twitter and calling racists racists.
The right – committed to freedom of speech and intellectual diversity and the truth, no matter how much it hurts your feelings, snowflakes, with the full force and power of the US government behind it:
‘”We are taking school funds away from these crazy schools that are teaching horrible things. Bad things, actually. We will teach our children the truth about America: That we are the most exceptional nation on the face of the Earth & we are getting better every single day”- Trump’
    https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1307472569805819904

    1. V AKA Frilly Keane

Firstly , it’s important to remember that Academics, and College research labs rely on industry support all the time
And have done for over a century
PhD students rely on them – funding, grants, schols, fellowships, whatever
      Across all sorts of disciplines

The Teenager is currently participating in one such big ticket funded study

The issue we should be concerned about, the reason you pushed it to me, is their presence and role in contributing and distributing advice to the general public. Especially in the media.

Every utterance said and every word printed, and shared needs to be accompanied with an advisory note in advance
Declare the Conflict of Interest, identify it and accompany it with a brief description of the actual risk attached to the piece.

Like say a Bank does when they have a customer sharing their story – Minnie and Batty received a small gratuity

Luke O’Neill in particular here, has more than just a simple everyday brush with Influence. Not everyone in his line of work gets 30million to sex up their lab to focus on a vaccine that the whole World is lining up for. And directed and controlled by Private Industry, in the main.

Even less get to go on the telly to convince the general public they can’t leave their gaff until there is one

That’s a conflict of Interest – in the general area of Fee Influence and strictly regulated, usually.

I’m sure he’s a great teacher and one of the best at what he does. And he is very listenable, and plain spoken. Which, in my experience, is a sign he knows what he’s talking about. He’s able to deconstruct complex scientific material and rebuild it with everyday spoken words. He doesn’t sound like a nerd basically.

But he has a very clear, definitive and unequivocal conflict of interest in all Covid 19 / Vaccine matters
Dr Marcus summed it up perfectly – explicit influence

And on a matter of public health & wellbeing
As well as the economy, wider local and into our own pockets

Every media outlet and NPHET team gathering, at any level, that include him in anything, are participating in what is affectively his business. Therefore they are party to it as well.

It’s not you, or lads on the internet or on the street protesting, that should sceptical of Luke O’Neill’s Professional Independence

Every member of the Oireachtas should be, our main stream media should be, as well as the Scientific Community

If I was given even one thousandth of that kinda money – from say a Private Equity Firm or a Bank, to support my practice and help advise my housing clients you can be damn sure ye’d know all about it

  6. GiggidyGoo

The funny thing is that Simon Harris announces almost €5m+ for Science Foundation Ireland. Off his own bat? Or who made the decision, and calculated the amount? Who lobbied?
GSK can surely afford to finance their friends. Even out of the grants they get for their plant in Dungarvan, for instance?

  7. Verbatim

Beautiful photo of the cailíní on the SundayIndependent, would love to know what they were laughing about…

  8. Rosette of Sirius

Most importantly this Sunday amid all the nonsense, Sam Bennet has a rather excellent day in Paris. I really enjoyed his sprint to take the final stage on the Champs-Élysées. Very exciting indeed.

Another Irish sporting legend to toast and celebrate.
