This morning.
A selection of fireworks seized by Gardai in Mallow, County Cork during Operation Tombola, a campaign to rid the country of illegal fireworks ahead of Halloween.
The streets are a little safer today.

My local kids are ridding Ballyfermot of fireworks every evening.
“Name those bangers” shurely?
Hehehehehe
There was a young fella on Liveline last week who had the top of his finger blown off by one of those long black ones.
I wish the UK would hurry up and ban their sale.
There aren’t any plans to ban them in the UK, and I don’t think it will ever happen. Their sale has been restricted in recent years to around Bonfire Night, New Year’s Eve, Chinese New Year and Diwali to reduce the stress they cause wildlife. They are not banned at other times but can only be bought from licensed outlets.
i remember having to get bangers in moore street that were fished from the undergarments of a portly oul wan for two punts.
ew.
sure only made them all the more explosive
what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger, bro.
but what does – makes you dead.
Jeez, imagine if they went off in situ!
safe enough paulus. boxes were a wee bit soggy if i recall..
I live in Dublin 8 and there’s fireworks going off every day of the year. Ice cream van is around every day of the year too. Wonder if the two are connected.
