$55,000 on hair-dos in 1 year? And it still looks like that? I think Trump has a, “Mirror, Mirror on the wall” syndrome. Back in the day – in Tyrone, young lads would go to a barber’s and ask for, “A Peter Canavan” – I would doubt there was ever a demand for, “A Trump”?

‘ Increase of over 10,000 Pandemic Unemployment Payment claimants in a week ‘
Here’s the first trickle of the unemployment tsunami on its way.
Summer’s brief flicker of optimism is giving way to the Autumn and Winter of misery.
Fortunately my wine cellar is racked and ready.

Funnily enough I’m not a brandy chap, old chap.
The only spirits I drink are gin and the occasional Dalwhinnie single malt whisky.
My East European chums will drink anything they can lay their hands on.
And they can hold it, if you catch my drift.

That’s a shame, you are inadvertently denying yourself the pleasures of the cocaine of alcohol.
Of course true afficionados like myself prefer only the finest Armagnac in any case.

To tell you the truth I once attended a dinner party that carried on all night fuelled mainly by copious amounts of Courvoisier.
The resultant hangover was such a stinker the merest whiff of the stuff still makes me feel ill.
The only other comparable hangover I can recall was after consuming three bottles of inferior champagne at a 2,000 Guineas meeting but fortunately that one left no lasting damage to my olfactory senses.
By jove, I’m turning into Rowley Birkin QC.

…once had a 1961 Armagnac in Dunderry Lodge…the owner specialised in Armagnac but I’m with Charger on the gin with all the trimmings and the occasional Scotish malt…

Despite our occasional differences I’ve always had you down as a person of impeccable taste.
I draw the line at Cork Dry Gin though.

…CDC was an act of cynicism from Irish Distillers back in the day…they had a vice-like grip on the licenced trade and all pubs sold it, most exclusively…it was a grain spirit that had a few juniper berries shaken in it’s direction, otherwise it was called Hussar Vodka…and don’t even start me on Kiskadee…

Sadly, Charger you weren’t invited to Cobra meetings. I’m struggling to remember where I heard this Winstonian quote: Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm. Somehow, I thought of you?

In hindsight do you think Ireland suffered international humiliation after being bounced into signing a 2nd Lisbon Treaty by the now disgraced and corrupt French politician Sarkozy ?

        1. GiggidyGoo

Of course I do. I don’t disagree with everything you write you know.

Whatever that has to do with the (UK) numbers above. The worm has turned in the UK wouldn’t you agree? Boris and the Tories losing percentages big time and Labour just a couple of points behind (unlike the election), and now the ‘please take us back in – ers’ on 50%.

          1. Charger Salmons

Polls are only interesting as an indication of the present and if they help predict the future.
Polling about an historical event is a total waste of time and money.
The only Brexit poll that mattered occured on 23rd June 2016.
It’s an indication of the deep hole that Labour are in that six months into the pandemic and with a new leader who is streets ahead of Corbyn in terms of electability they are still struggling to broach the 40% mark.
Who knows what will have happened in nearly four years time ?

      Thanks for the link, Charage.
      This is good news:

Which of the following do you think would make
      the best Prime Minister?

      Keir Starmer: 37% (+2)
      Boris Johnson: 30% (=)

      1. Charger Salmons

Sadly for you cobber we won’t know until 2nd May 2024.
I beginning to think the only polls you understand Down Under are the ones the captured kangaroos dance around to get you lads going on the remote, fly-infested sheep station 300 miles from Wogga Wogga.

MTAS review will not be published. A HSE cover-up. Somehow we are to believe that if MTAS co-operated with the review, it shouldn’t be published? The Boys protecting the boys.

Charger on 8.6 on the Sure Have Inferiority Troubles scale already. Lockdown in the bedsit must be getting to him. Walter Mitty eat your heart out.

    1. GiggidyGoo

9.2 on the SHI Troubles meter. Bursting it out this morning. Fine weather. You can open the windows of the bedsit and take your dry jocks off the wine rack.

Paul Reid will go before the Oireactas Covid 19 Golf Society today and tell them that he hopes to avoid a tough winter scenario, but is planning for it. So his press release says.
Sure they know now, so why is he going in front of them? Google repetition effect on an audience.
    Still planning?
The “planning for it” though has to make you laugh. Every year they’re planning for a rough winter, yet a plan never comes to fruition and each year is worse than the previous one.
What will be Donnelly’s excuse. There will be plenty of quotations of his spats with the Boy Harris. Let’s see what he is made of.

Malta engaging in battle with a little boy for a sharks tooth given to him by Sir David Attenborough is a really pathetic story. They should be thanking this great old man for bringing natural history to the world and giving life sentences to the evil 2 legged sharks in their own parliament for corruption and car bombing of an investigative journalist.

    First day post quarantine 3.0
Beautiful day out there. Sunrise was gorgeous too.
    Tee time booked.
    Clubs are in the car.
Expect to lose the €5, €5 + €5 to one of the younger family members.
No commissioners or members of the Oireachtas will be hurt at this outing.
I can not guarantee the same good fortune, if the little banker in the family tries his usual guff.
    Have a sunny day all.

      1. italia'90

Cheers Nigel. I picked a nice day :)
Even managed to play a few nice shots on a course I’m not familiar with.
        Took the money too.

        that’s unfair

there was a je-ne-say-kwaa to the way he hung the damp bladderwrack from his little member swollen with years of want and rejection

    The Supreme Court
    Covid-19

‘Race and Violence in our Cities’

Well of course, it IS Fox News.

(Ideally they’d devote one entire debate to climate change, but I won’t hold my brearh – be lucky if it even turns up as a topic at all.)

      1. Johnny Green

The only change above i anticipate is regarding federal taxes, its always about death and taxes in the end,in this case the death of his political life over not paying any tax.

agreed on climate change but it is a Fox moderator !

JustSecurity laid out the tax issue, but its the 420 million debt (mortgages) personally guaranteed by POTUS,due on demand if he got a second term that most likely will be the focus this eve.

who are his lenders-where are they domiciled, etc ?

Biden +9 in Pennsylvania, 54-45%, among likely voters, per new ABC News/WaPo poll
—the second poll to find Biden up 9 in this swing state this week so far..
47% of likely voters in PA said they ‘strongly disapprove’ of Trump’s job as president, severely narrowing his path to win the state,NYT poll.

        https://www.justsecurity.org/72604/ten-quick-takeaways-from-the-new-york-times-bombshell-article-on-trumps-tax-returns/

Russia,Russia if your reading…word is NYT is about ‘leak” the returns, allowing tax and fin professors to crowdsource his prosecution felony tax charges…or he wins!

Dems and R’s -house enter negotiations with lots ‘green provisions’ last night on a stimulus bill, including some new cannabis laws (CARES ACT),but most ‘green’ changes and laws, will come out the house/congress not white house now and in the next admin.

deep dive, warning its a fecking long read on the man who has kept trumps taxes a secret.
Mnuchin is a complex character, loathed by the R’s as not tough enough, disliked by D’s.

Cmere! What’s the story with my polite posts? Am I barred from even entering the room without the editors permission?

BS SEZ: Not at all Charlie. Should be fixed now.
