Behold: the 1975 Lamborghini Countach LP400 Periscopica one of only 158 variants of the archetypal 1970s wedge supercar, named for the light channel in the roof that illuminates the rear view mirror making it possible to back up without hanging out over the door sill looking back.

Presented in its original Blu Metallizzato livery with fully documentation and its original drivetrain, it’s yours, with a little shrewd bidding, for €930,000+.

What’s the yoke that looks like an afterthought (ciggie lighter?) on the side of the centre console?

Rem when car-accessory shops sold centre-consoles to shoehorn into your Mk 2 Escort?

They had so many weird quirky design features that made no sense. I used to think there could never be a car that looks more futuristic than this, back in the day. Lamborghini have such a talent for holding that title continuously, you can see the designs trickle down to mainstream manufacturers emulating some of the hexagonal characteristics, especially Audi, and some of Volkswagen and Skoda.
