1982.
Leopardstown, County Dublin.
What little cash was left in the 1980s went on the gee-gees.
Soft ‘g’, ladies.

Very interesting photos but Leopardstown is not, and never was, considered part of inner city Dublin.
ha! inner city ?!? can hear the gasp of horror from foxrock from here
I grew up on the just off the corner of Brighton and Glenamuck. Back in those days it was necessary to take a torch with you when heading out for a walk in the winter. Just beyond the tennis club, it was all farmland until the mid 80s when things kicked off.
So, it was barely even suburban back then!
Would recommend this for a listen – showed how the Tote was tottpled in the late 70’s

“On the morning of Sunday, 22nd October 1978, the nation awoke to news that simply didn’t make sense. The country’s bookies had been beaten.
A group of friends from Listowel in Co Kerry and Abbeyfeale in Co Limerick had spotted a way of manipulating the betting system into believing that a racing greyhound was so poor it could give odds of almost 1000/1 on him. The dog was in fact one of the finest in the country. The bookies had been taken for a ride.
It remains among the biggest betting coups in the history of Irish gambling.”
