A year ago today the Grand Old Duke of Corbyn led his troops into the division lobby to vote for the Early General Election Bill.
Boris had suckered him and the LibDems into holding an election that produced Labour’s worst result since the invention of colour television.
It also consigned the LibDems into even further depths of electoral obscurity.
Turkeys really did vote for Christmas last year.
    Marvellous.

This is an Irish website clown man. We’re sick and tired of all your UK references. The Daily Express website would suit you down to the ground, Little Englander. Marvellous.

      1. Charger Salmons

If you’re sick and tired of UK references why do you keep asking for my opinion about Boris in every single post you make ?
        Doh !

  2. Joe F

Oh the dead have awoken!! I thought you weren’t supposed to respond to me clown man? Check your grammar also Krusty.

I see old mate Ivor is busy attacking critics on Twitter. The casedemic has ended. Perhaps, the epidemiologists are worth listening to, not “fate emperors” or project engineers. The virus is real.

          1. Cian

Oh! deflection and insults from GiggidyGoo. That’s par for the course.

Ivor makes money from his Youtube videos. He also asks people to send him money at the end of some of them. On twitter his pinned post is an ad for his book.

These are facts. He is making money from all this.

          2. GiggidyGoo

Cool. And the content of his videos doesn’t come into it. Just that he’s making money – which he is entitled to do, don’t you agree?

Funnily enough, Holohan & Reid are also getting paid for giving their opinions on Covid.

And at least he’s doing it in real time unlike a certain ex Taoiseach who spends 40 years mostly doing nothing, and who will collect a teacher’s pension having taught for approx 2 years of his career – who then ‘clicks’ (yes, there’s more than one definition of ‘click’) his fingers and collects more dosh for travelling around Ireland by train.

Maybe Michael D’Arcy likes to click too – like Golfy Hayes – with the financial sector, after they both ‘served’ in that section of Government.

Remember – Clicks = Cash. (And also, Cliques = Cash)

          3. Cian

Oh! even more deflection and insults from GiggidyGoo.

            Hypocrite.

Holohan & Reid are getting paid for giving their opinions on Covid – but are qualified to do so.

Ivor is an engineer cashing in on Covid.

          4. GiggidyGoo

He’s entitled to make a living. Funnily enough I haven’t looked at any of his videos. But he’s qualified to give opinions on facts and figures, judging by the ‘About’ on his website which I’ve just looked at. He also seems to have more of an interest in peoples health that you do. Chief Program Officer of https://ihda.ie/ though I’m sure you’ll have something diversionary and a deflect mechanism for that.

On the other hand, Holohan and Reid can suck of the teat of the public purse and play out their fantasies of being ‘the boss’ for the moment, with no worries about income.

You didn’t like to references to the triumvirate of click-meisters – Kenny, Hayes and Darcy – obviously.

Garcon – les Fine Gaelers would like a word. Click click.

Piddle poor posting. Cut-backs or else enforced overtime?

          5. Cian

            can we all deflect?

Are the SF/IRA thugs that rob banks and post offices and murder Gardaí entitled to make a living too?

          6. GiggidyGoo

I’d think enforced leave may be on the cards Cian. You’re all over the place now. Very disappointing. Not representing your FG mateys at all now.

Click Click – Taxi please for Cian.

          7. GiggidyGoo

That wasn’t an attack. It was disguised advice.
You never fail to disappoint though Nigel – my own personal stalker.

          8. Nigel

Yes it was and here you are doing it again. Such high standards you demand from other people but not yourself. .

    1. SOQ

Formerly you come on here, day after day, arguing that lock downs are the only way while completely ignoring the horrendous collateral damage. When challenged on your ‘science’ you produce a bunch of research projects with not one published let alone peer reviewed paper between them.

And now you are having a go at Ivor Cummins for calling out a connected shill who tried to have him banned from twitter. Except Ivor deals in stats not conspiracy theories and twitter knows this. I would even go further and say that there are fans of his within twitter itself.

Nobody said the virus is not real- just that the reactions to it are disproportionate and they kill way more than the virus itself. So let me ask you this (again)- has your income stream been in anyway affected by the lockdown?

      1. MME

Ivor Cummings to be fair is on the nuttier end of spectrum. Deranged hyperbolous tweets. His take is as disproportionate as those he rails against. Gupetra he is not.

          1. SOQ

If you think that lockdowns have been proven to work the you really don’t understand the old saying- ‘never count the bodies until the war is over’- because those bodies will include many others apart from CoVid-19.

          2. bisted

…for once I agree with you…when this is over no world event will be scrutinised more and I fear indirect consequences will become more obvious…

      2. Janet, dreams of warm feet

I was particularly surprised about the assertion that coming into summer in australia would help lift people’s moods in response to my comments on depression and suicide, I know you probably meant well but it shows a real lack of understanding into these conditions that isn’t how depression and anxiety work, it doesn’t depend on the weather mores the pity ( @ formally ).

          1. Janet, dreams of warm feet

No Johnny I don’t suffer from depression, I do know people who do.
Sun worshipper that I am, I much prefer winter for running, I love the nip in the air on my legs, I love running into rain, I love watching the waves go crazy in a storm, I love most other people are at home and I have the paths to myself, reading by the fire and cooking all my heartiest recipes, I also in better times go to the Alps every year to ski, I love winter, born in January as it happens.
My comment is in reference to a response from formally known as Ireland on a different thread but same topic , we were discussing effects of lockdown, I’m particularly concerned with the effects on mental health.

        1. Formerly known as @ireland.com

@Janet – I think I said a lot more than just the weather is going to lift moods. I said that ending the lockdown and the economy recovering will help. The fact that Australia has succeeded in suppressing the virus will also help. The news here is that eceonomists believe we might be out of recession already.

I am very familiar with mental health issues. Life isn’t exactly a bowl of cherries for lots of people.

I do see that mental health issues would be a lot worse if you have severe lockdowns and you don’t succeed in suppressing the virus. I worry that Ireland’s lockdowns are of little value if you just let more people with the virus fly into the country.

          1. Janet, dreams of warm feet

apologies if I took you out of context, I hope those things do lift people’s anxiety, it’s just once the black dog finds you it’s hard to get him to leave regardless of economic status etc.

      3. Formerly known as @ireland.com

@SOQ – I have NEVER said lockdowns are the ONLY way. In fact, I have regularly said they would be unnecessary if people followed the guidelines. You keep stating that the death rate doesn’t justify the lockdowns. I keep saying that hospital capacity is the issue. I don’t ignore the collateral damage. I am well aware of it – I have lived through two lockdowns, 112 daysof tougher than your current one. I speak from experience. Give me an alternative that works.

So, you reckon a Nobel laureate doesn’t have a peer reviewed paper?
        https://www.doherty.edu.au/people

Peter Doherty – look him up.

I see Ivor Cummins attacking an individual on Twitter. I don’t see edpidemiolists doing that.

I answered your income stream question 12 hours ago. Look it up. I am not sure why my status changes whether lockdowns are right or wrong. I can see the benefit. I can tell you, governments are choosing them as a LAST resort when all other options have been tried. Good goverments provide for those impacted, so that they can survive economically.

I know that people find them tough. I find them tough but I also see that they can work. Victoria has had an average of 2.4 cases per day for the last 14 days. 6 million people. We can keep it under control. Again, if everyone does the right thing.

Oh yeah, giving me a hard time about calling your views “rubbish” but you calling someone “homophobic” because you disagree with him.

          @Formerly

Was the Australian health service under strain when they imposed lockdown? No.

Was the Irish health service under strain when they imposed lockdown? No.

In both cases – and the UK by the looks of it- they are ignoring the WHO advice of lockdowns being a VERY VERY LAST RESORT. They fully admit to using is as a pre-emptive or preventative measure while experts from Oxford University, Stanford University and Harvard University all say there is another way.

There is an alternative- https://gbdeclaration.org – and you know it.

As for Ivor- Carl Heneghan got similar treatment when they started trawling though his tweets but fortunately, his academic credentials meant they could not do anything. Ivor called this nasty character out and more power to him for doing it.

And- when a gay man is told to ‘calm down’ it is pretty clear what the intent is. Not that it is any better than a female friend of mine being told she was being ‘hysterical’ for wanting to do non essential office work from home recently- in level 5 of course- words matter, especially when loaded.

          1. Formerly known as @ireland.com

            @SOQ
Melbourne got up to 725 daily cases – I don’t think it was going to stop before overwhelming the hospitals. Lots of people were dying. Maybe, Australians place a different value on life to you. Our scummy PM wanted to let it rip but luckily our state premiers wanted to save people, not the economy.

The rest of Australia closed their borders to us. It would not be sustainable for us to let the virus run wild and be separated from the rest of the country.

That GB declaration is garbage. I keep repeating herd immunity is worse than not proven, it seems to be temporary, at best. As for protecting the vulnerable. 25% of the population is vulnerable. They live with everyone else. There is no magical protection. There is protecting everyone by suppressing it.

The best way to suppress the virus is to act early – Mike Ryan of the WHO said that back in the early days. The first lockdowns made sense to give countries time to prepare and to save lives. It looks like the time before the second wave was not used wisely. Even Germany is locking down. They have a great medical system and probably the best governments (including their state governments).

We also know about Long Covid, which we did not know about previously. That is a good reason to minimise the number of cases.

            This is worth a listen:
Listening to Making Sense with Sam Harris (#222 — A Pandemic of Incompetence): https://wakingup.libsyn.com/222-a-pandemic-of-incompetence

In this episode of the podcast, Sam Harris speaks with Nicholas Christakis about the Covid-19 pandemic. They discuss the breakdown of trust in institutions and experts, the corruption of science by politics, the ineptitude of the Trump administration in handling the pandemic, whether the gravity of Covid-19 has been exaggerated, preparing for future pandemics, whether Covid deaths are being over-reported, bad incentives in the medical system, tracking “excess death” statistics, the prospect that the novel coronavirus will evolve to become more benign, the efficacy of current treatments, safety concerns about a rushed vaccine, the importance of public health communication, when life might return to normal, the economic impact of the pandemic, long term social changes, the future of universities, Nicholas’s personal habits during the pandemic, the importance of rapid testing, and other topics.

            That GB declaration is garbage????

Enough said. We’ll buy you a ticket to Sweden so- actually no, buy me one instead- you’d probably have a breakdown.

          3. Cian

Sweden is starting to lock down – albeit by recommendation rather than diktat (which they can’t actually legally do).

The Swedish public health agency already told residents in the northern Uppsala region last week to avoid public transport and not to meet people outside their household for a period of two weeks.

The same advice has now been issued in the southernmost Scania region, but for a period of three weeks.

Health officials also said people should avoid meetings and cultural events, and to stay clear of indoor spaces such as shops, museums, libraries and gyms. (my emphasis)

@SOQ : “Was the Irish health service under strain when they imposed lockdown? No.”

When you are dealing with a highly infectious virus – there is a time lag between making changes and when you see the impact of these. Hell, there is almost a week lag between NPHET making a recommendation, the Cabinet meeting to make a decision to go to level 5, and the implementation of the decision two days later. The impact on the health services of moving to level 5 on Wednesday 21st will take 1-2 weeks to appear (especially deaths/ICU).

If you wait until the health services is overwhelmed and to make a change it is much to late.

          1. GiggidyGoo

“Hell, there is almost a week lag between NPHET making a recommendation, the Cabinet meeting to make a decision to go to level 5, and the implementation of the decision two days later.”

While there is 4+ weeks in the minutes of the Nphet meeting being made available. That means that decisions are being made without agreed minutes being circulated. very professional I must say.

          2. Cian

gosh, more deflection from the hypocrite GiggidyGoo. What a surprise.

But I’ll bite: just because the minutes aren’t published to Joe Public doesn’t mean they aren’t circulated to members.

          3. SOQ

Yes point taken about the lag in fatalities and ICU admittance but on average symptoms appear after 5 days and up to 13- so the tail end of pre lockdown should be by next Wednesday.

Given the average incubation time of 5 days, most should be already displaying symptoms therefore at least some reflected in hospital admittance. But, there has been no real rise over the past week as there is a comparatively fast discharge rate- total beds occupied is the important figure of course- meaning nett.

@GiggidyGoo- I don’t believe that for a second- how can they have rolling minutes without the previous being circulated? Most of those minutes are are bound to be rolling- plus AOB- otherwise they are just having a craic.

The “Tragedy in Cork”, a new turn – one body was found to be shot 17 times? My neighbour from home, Bernadette McAliskey(Devlin) was shot 16 times in the chest from an execution squad from MI5/RUC/UDA – she survived. Perhaps, the 17th shot was the lethal round? I know it’s not the same thing, perhaps buck shots, rather than bullets? Anhoo, may they all rest in peace.

    1. Johnny

Sounds like this is a great new doc series on mad and bad irish women,I’d have liked see Rita O’Hare,a great irish patriot and republican included, but Bernie is.
It’s not available in states yet, looking forward to it.

“What does the phrase ‘difficult woman’ mean to you? Bernadette, that’s a great question for you,” says Doolan to McAliskey, as the pair sit at a wooden table surrounded by potted plants, in a snippet from the film series.
Doolan leans back in her chair and breaks out into laughter once she’s asked the question.
“I think there are women who do not believe that their position is secondary and dependent upon men,” McAliskey replies. “They are perceived by men and other women as difficult women.”

I can’t remember the last time I read such upsetting and abysmal news on the front page of every paper; what depths have we fallen to as a race of people? I thought Lord of The Flies was fictional?

    1. Ok

I know it’s only over the internet and all but I’m reaching out to give you a virtual hug and lots of them Steph, at times like this it is imperative on the majority of us to just hold it all together, this too shall pass

If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
        But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

And so it goes during these difficult times..

  6. GiggidyGoo

O’Gorman twisting and turning and squirming.
Home survivors ‘can seek’ records.? Anyone can seek them. But they can’t get them.
And we are meant to believe that the AG ‘has clarified’ the situation. Another dumb AG then who can’t be clear in opinions.

Then there’s Donnelly with another lame retort regarding the Cervical Check. The chap had signed the irreversible order while at the same time stringing the group of 221+ along with a book of tissues of lies.

They’re taking the citizens as fools. They’ve brought these matters to the homes of the citizens affected, yet if anyone dares to protest at their homes, they’re out of order?

      1. MME

Look where you are Giggidy (notes timings of your posts!) – look where O’Gorman is.

While there is obviously much to critique about O’Gorman’s handing of this issue, the AG, Donnelly’s ill-advised corporate speak – battering out insults such as “dumb”, “he is a bad law lecturer (bless)” and thinking a mob outside a politician’s house is a good way to proceed, really just confirms my low opinion of you.

I get that you are perma-angry but there are far better ways to construct and argue than using personal invective (all the time). I’ll give you Charage though- that is acutely different. I don’t mind our little back and forth either- more amusing than anything else).

When the big hand is at 4 and the small hand is at 3, It’s twenty past three. Over the next year we will show you how to read the clock fully. In the meantime, if you feel the need at any time to attack someone due to the time of day they perform an action, please return to your mentor for a refresher course in addiction therapy. If that is accompanied by a need to change name regularly, we will have to review the situation.
          Miss le meas.

          1. Ok

They deleted my message earlier asking if you are a trucker Giggidy- due to the hours you keep- either way if it’s the case some of us do appreciate that you are one of the people who get up early in the morning – your hero Leo in particular!

          2. GiggidyGoo

I’d be considered to be providing an essential service during these times. MME and his bubble-buddy Charlie wouldn’t be too happy if my industry weren’t serving their needs. Won’t say anymore.

          3. MME

Well Giggidy, the hours you keep are making you distinctly irritable and very angry. I can only hope those whom you claim to serve in the wee hours are not on the receiving end of such opprobrium.

But as I say, our to and froing is excepted. Amusing.

          4. GiggidyGoo

I think you’re having a bit of an issue yourself. You and your Bubble Buddy, Charlie. Oops – sure you’re one and the same.

        2. Ok

Every blog like this eventually degenerates into angry oul fellas yelling insults at people until they are inevitably banned

    @Shayna
The victim was shot SEVEN times with a .22 rifle which in gun culture is only slightly above a fairground rifle in effectiveness.
They’re normally used by kids on farms to shoot rats.
Bernadette McAkiskey was shot NINE times and her life was saved by British security forces who helicoptered her to hospital.
Sadly this was not the outcome for many of the innocent victims killed by her great pal Dominic ‘ Mad Dog ‘ McGlinchey.
Welcome to the world of facts not fiction

    1. Charger Salmons

It’ll be interesting to hear if one of the immigrants fleeing persecution is behind this morning’s knife attack outside a church in Nice.

      1. Charger Salmons

        Two killed.
        Nice mayor indicates terrorist attack.
As if France doesn’t have enough on its plate at the moment.

        1. Charger Salmons

France’s north and south coasts both the centre of unwanted attention this week and highlighting the massive immigrant problem the country has.
Failure to curb people trafficking and a summer of facilitating illegal crossings on the channel coast has led to more deaths by drowning.
And Nice is once again the location of another terrorist attack four years after 86 people were killed by a suicide truck driver.
Tough times for La Belle France.

          1. GiggidyGoo

He’s trying the ‘Rehabilitate Charger’ route. Maybe he thinks his posts on a Cork website can be forgotten as he tries to have posters here take him into their confidence.

Death toll rises to three including a woman who was beheaded.
            Outside a Catholic church.
Makes you wonder if the terrorist might possibly be an Islamist.
They do have form in the head-removing business.

          3. Charger Salmons

Two of the victims killed during mass at a Catholic church in Nice were beheaded.
Coming less than two weeks after the school teacher was beheaded in Paris takes France’s struggle to cope with Islamist terrorism to a new crisis level.
But I fear it is too late for France and much of mainland Europe.
Untold number of Islamist extremists slipped in during the mass migration as politicians foolishly welcomed everyone in with open arms, many arriving from countries with very different moral and social values.
Lack of border control in the United States of Europe has come at a very heavy price.
We in the The British Isles are very lucky to have water between us and continental Europe which enables us to police our borders much better.

          4. Janet, dreams of warm feet

Immigration is not the problem, radical religion is, many terrorists are home grown Charger, for every batcaca crazy muslim there are plenty who integrate and contribute to society.
This is from someone who lost friends in the French attacks, and a very dear man in the London attacks, I won’t let it bring me to hating all muslims or immigrants. You need to grow the fupp up, the hate you peddle is as bad as theirs.

          5. Janet, dreams of warm feet

You disgust me and sully their deaths and I’m pretty sure you’d disgust them too.

          6. Charger Salmons

Janet – you’re making a common and fundamental error of instantly equating questions over immigration control with racism.
It’s the exact reason why it is now too late for Europe to cope with radical Islam.
And it’s why the no-go areas in certain French cities are Islamic and practise Sharia rather than French law.
            The horse has bolted.
Just ask the people of Sweden.

          7. Janet, dreams of warm feet

it sounded a lot like you were the one doing the equating and indeed continue to do so as your comment progresses,
religion is evil particularly it’s more virulent forms and that goes for ” in God we trust ” American christians too.

    2. Brother Barnabas

so a noble endeavour is being scuppered by naysayers and opponents with a racist agenda intent on manipulating public sentiment and stoking xenophobia

is that what you’re saying ?

    3. scottser

ok, i read your daily mail article. essentially, germany promised to take in over a million syrian refugees but anecdotally, up to two-thirds of those weren’t syrian. now the german authorities are deporting those from eritirea, nigeria, sudan and elsewhere as they may have entered germany under false pretences.
your comprehension is shaky, and your insinuation is grubby at best.
i’m off for another shower. daily mail, ewwww.

Accidentally watched Fair City last night- they are actually wearing muzzles on it. No doubt the justification is that they are setting a ‘good’ example but they just looked really silly. No sign of them on the English soaps of course.

Do we really need a reminder of how bleak and miserable things are on a soap which is supposed to be about escapism?

On the other hand it did appear to improve some of the acting- so maybe they should all wear them all of the time.

When NAMA in a jaw dropping move, decided to go into partnership on behalf the state with Johnny Rohan and Tom Barrack, many observers including TD’s have sought some logic, there is none,it was a dumb, stupid move.

As such it’s now hitting them hard, yet no matter what,no matter how many balls ups, money and oppprtunities wasted, squandered, pissed away by incompetent and irish ignorance,It simply doesn’t matter, zilch,no consequences.

Colony was selling everything not nailed down had defaulted on debt.

Colony has sold offices in Europe, industrial properties and grocery-anchored shopping centers in the U.S. In May, it announced plans to restructure seven portfolios of hotels with $3.5 billion of debt.

Ronan owes hundreds millions these vulture funds,he was trying get new partners take them out or refinance,he didn’ now another big mess,he’s in a whole heap trouble, with loans getting called.

Biggest owner/landlord took a 25% write down on its Grafton St portfolio, today,Barrack and his cohorts aren’t like NAMA they wont mess about in collecting the firms money,if you don’t pay they back they take it all, loan to own.

“Nama has given developer Johnny Ronan and his new partners on the former Irish Glass Bottle site in Dublin until December 18th to complete the €160 million deal, marking a four-month extension on an original 30-day deadline, according to sources.”

‘ A day of shame for the Labour Party ‘
    ‘ I apologise unreservedly ‘
A passionate mea culpa from Labour leader Sir Kneel-a-lot on publication of the party’s report which found endemic and bullying anti-Semitism within the party.
Amazing that Starmer didn’t know this was going on when he was a senior member of Corbyn’s Shadow Cabinet for years.
Probably explains why Labour still can’t beat the Tories’ worst polling figures.

    1. Redundant Proofreaders Society

Questions to you, Mr. Salmons; why do you discuss UK politics so vehemently on an Irish news site? Particularly with the assumption that Irish readers have a vested interest? Would it not be more suited to a UK-based news site (for the bewildered or otherwise), as it is there where these politicians are held accountable? For example, in the comment above, you opine about the ‘Labour Party’, without heeding the fact that Ireland has one Labour Party and the UK another.

      1. Charger Salmons

Well I get asked a lot on here about what’s going on in politics and with C-19 in Blighty so I presume there’s plenty of interest.
If there wasn’t I wouldn’t bother my hole.
This is also the paper review section which today contains eleven UK publications and six Irish ones.
        What do you reckon ?

        1. Joe F

Getting a bit touchy clown man? Never knew you were so sensitive clown man! Anyway I think you should do a basic course in grammar and spelling. Marvellous.

        2. Joe F

What is the population of the UK and what is the population of Ireland clown man? Even someone of your limited intelligence could work out that Ireland isn’t going to produce more papers than the UK. I’ll send on that abacus I was talking about previously to you. Also, you might need to type up your comments in Microsoft Word first, and then copy and paste them in here. Grammar mistakes appear in blue. You don’t seem to get basic grammar clown man.

        3. scottser

‘Well I get asked a lot on here about what’s going on in politics and with C-19 in Blighty’

          no you don’t.

        4. Joe F

Clown man, you wrote this earlier
“Well I get asked a lot on here about what’s going on in politics and with C-19 in Blighty….”
I have asked umpteen questions about Bozo and you just refuse to answer. So what are you on about not bothering your h***??
You just don’t have an answer when someone points out the blatantly obvious.
How can you be taken seriously when you are incapable of writing objectively?
Everything the Tories do is great, everything Labour does isn’t. Everything you say about Trump is positive, everything about Biden is negative.
I’m on two weeks holidays by the way. Marvellous.

        5. Papi

The only thing you get asked is to leave. Unlike People’s Republic of Cork where you just got straight out banned.

          Good old Cork.

    2. Charger Salmons

The key question over Starmer’s credibility is will he sanction former leader Jeremy Corbyn who has already come out this morning denying any blame.
Sir Kneel-a-lot was slippery and evasive at this morning’s Zoom press conference, refusing to directly answer a barrage of hostile questions and not allowing any follow-up queries.
Boris must be enjoying a rare day out of the spotlight.

      1. Charger Salmons

By jove, they’ve only gone and suspended Jezza from the Labour party and withdrawn the whip from him.
You have to feel sorry for the poor saps on here who were bigging up Magic Grandpa a year or two ago as the man who was going to rescue Blighty from those dastardly Tories.
Even Labour have finally worked out he’s incompetent.
        Poor Nigel.

    Big Game Covid Hunters –

is there anything to be read into Amazon sending US$40k to the ‘merican Vaccination Information Centre?

I’m inclined to think this is a private Customer choice thingy via the would you like to donate to button in the Amazon checkout
and Amazon are only transferring cash that’s not being treated as revenue

But I’m open minded about it
    Anyone?

  12. Charger Salmons

For fellow language lovers the term Halloween is really Hallowe’en.
The apostrophe was a reminder that the familiar name is a contraction of Hallow Even, the night before All Saints’ Day.
In a sign of the changing times the Times of London has updated its style guide to include Halloween instead of Hallowe’en.
    Marvellous.

    1. Joe F

Hey clown man, you wrote a two sentence post last night and it contained 2 grammar mistakes. Talk about kettle calling the pot black you absolute clown. Are you totally incapable of writing something here that doesn’t make you look a complete idiot. Marvellous indeed.

  13. GiggidyGoo

Sooooo. Holohan’s advice is for children not to attend parties over Halloween, yet his HSE don’t seem to mind these children to be exposed to products (yes, the ‘s’ is there alright) that aren’t checked for their safety. 52 more products now removed from schools. A €9m well spent alright. is Reid still there?

    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/education/department-of-education-tells-schools-to-stop-using-further-52-sanitisation-products-39683436.html

    1. Cian

SCHOOLS have been told to stop using another 52 sanitisation products that were supposed to stop the spread of Covid-19, following the recall of the Virapro hand gel last week.

The Department of Education has told principals that there is no evidence that the products are unsafe .

But, it says it “has not been possible to satisfactorily confirm their registration status” as part of the review.

  14. GiggidyGoo

“has not been possible to satisfactorily confirm their registration status”
    Department of Agriculture again?

We really are blessed with our people responsible for health. Such attention to detail.

https://www.maxxcare.global/virapro Virapro still being marketed even though, more than a week ago, the company concerned has been advised to withdraw all of these products from the market.

€9m well spent. But sure, no one is responsible as usual.
