RIP Nobby Stiles.
He married Catherine Giles, sister of John, in the church on the Navan Rd, Dublin 7 in 1963.

This afternoon.
Nobby Stiles, World Cup winner with England and European Cup winner with Manchester United, has died at 78.
Nobby was married for 57 years to Catherine ‘Kay’ Giles (they had three children), having met her through her brother John, when they were fellow young recruits at Old Trafford.

Seemed like a great guy, may he RIP.
Tough year for John Giles…
always seemed like an absolute gent
a sad departure
Not many left now from ’66.
George Cohen,Bobby Charlton and Geoff Hurst.
Alf Ramsay assembled a squad of quality men in his own image.
They wore their achievement with humility.
Most of them made the very best of what limited players they were.
No teeth Nobby more than any of them.
As many opponents who left the field of play with very sore ankles will testify.
His dancing down the Wembley turf holding the Jules Rimet trophy became an iconic image.
RIP Norbert.
A nation salutes you.
Roger Hunt is also still alive n kicking. Nobby and Jack were never the most gifted or skilful players but you need lads to put the boot in and they certainly did that. I hope they’re kicking it around together somewhere in the clouds.
