Seems like some robust and logical arguments. Why don’t we (and NI) differentiate between those hospitalised because of the virus and those who test positive upon admittance for something else. Especially if the later are asymptomatic.

Anecdotally, a friend had to bring his Mum to A&E in Beaumont on the weekend after she got a nasty cut. He was in and out in a couple of hours – said it was pretty much empty. Looks like people are still scared to go.

Now here’s the hysterical heads howling heresy from on high.

It will be interesting to see if the same sort of witch hunts start against these doctors as has happened in the south- I don’t think so somehow- because it is later in the game and the game is up.

Ah yeah Joe’s not gonna want to have his presidency overshadowed by this.

I expect sometime after Jan 20th the narrative to change to something like ”Yes, this is a serious disease, but we have to be proportionate in our response to it. Destroying small business will do more harm. After all, every single year – 4.2 million die from pollution caused by humans, 4 million from smoking related disease, 2 million from alcohol etc”. Something like that.

Unless of course they just ban driving, smoking and alcohol? ;)

        Ah crap….

Thank gawd I’m not the only one who has had
this very same scenario play out in their head.
          Cheers Micko.
In my version this malarkey lasts 5 years.
They won’t make the same mistake they made with Swine flu.

    Van!!!

My golden ager parents had a number of Irish hospital visits in the period between lockdowns.

Lots of doctors and nurses not wearing masks. Why?

‘Lots of doctors and nurses not wearing masks. Why?’

Before the legal enforcement, wearing a mask was a voluntary choice. When legal enforcement was brought in, medical premises (except pharmacies) were expressly excluded, along with banks, credit unions and post offices, in the Statutary Instrument, from the requirement for masks to be worn. Additionally, routine wearing of masks, as in the present situation, goes against the training I received when working in a hospital and, I understand from a senior nurse, that training is still the same now. I was taught to wear a mask only in very specific circumstances (which would not apply to the present situation) and for the absolute minimum amount of time because wearing a mask is not good for people.

Most likely they don’t wear them becuse they know they are are Ineffective, Unnecessary, and Harmful

Even for surgeons masks are unnecessary most of the time (except when using bone saws etc…)

        https://www.meehanmd.com/blog/2020-10-10-an-evidence-based-scientific-analysis-of-why-masks-are-ineffective-unnecessary-and-harmful/

Surgeons well-versed in the scientific research regarding medical masks, especially the systemic reviews published by the Cochrane Collaboration Wound Group, know that surgical face masks provide no benefit in the prevention of surgical wound infections. Surgeons with experience wearing surgical masks during long surgeries have undoubtedly experienced and understand the detrimental effects masks have on respiration, blood oxygenation, mental, and physical performance. For these science-based reasons, there is a worldwide trend towards surgeons and operating room staff no longer wearing surgical masks during “clean surgery” cases.

Nevertheless, many surgeons continue to wear face masks during clean surgery cases and outpatient minor procedures. We do so more for symbolic purposes, habit, tradition, or, not infrequently, because of institutional ignorance. That is, we are forced to wear masks because it is the ignorant, anti-science policy of the hospital or surgery center where we perform our surgeries.

Although wearing a mask during a clean surgery is unnecessary, there are other surgical cases in which surgical masks, eye protection, and face shields are still a good idea. For example, cases in which bone saws, drills, and other surgical power tools can expose the surgical team to splashes and splatters from the patient’s bodily fluids.

If a surgeon were sick, especially with a viral infection, they would not perform surgery as they know the virus would NOT be stopped by their surgical mask.

There is a subReddit about QanonCasualties that would make you despair.
I would recommend you don’t read it unless you want your pish boiled.
