Scullion – Eyelids Into Snow
Continuing our series of underrated Irish music since 1960, reader Paulus puts his hands together for folk veterans Scullion, who came of age at the 1980 Lisdoonvarna festival.
Eyelids Into Snow is taken from their second album Balance And Control released in 1980 and produced by the late, great John Martyn.
Paulus writes:
“This is the original line-up with the late Greg Boland, Philip King‘s high harmonies and gentleman-troubadour Sonny Condell.”
Nick says: Snow business.

I used to go see Scullion in The Baggot back in the early eighties, they were brilliant much better live than on tape.
Agree with previous. They were an amazing band live. Their repertoire of original material should be the envy of every band. Great craic too.
My mate’s older sister used to go out with a member of the band so i got dragged along to see them a fair bit in the mid 80’s. Even as a Big Motorhead/Judas Priest/Dio fan I was impressed by their musicianship and by what a sound bunch of gents they were.
Excellent song and arrangement, will be checking into more of this, cheers
