A middle-aged couple nicknamed East Anglia’s Bonny & Clyde have left at least dozen pubs and restaurant without paying their bills

There’s a couple of frauds who get thrills
By worming their way out of bills
They’ll visit a pub
And fill up with grub
And then scarper and head for the hills

Why is it that my 20 Euro baby cam as far better picture quality than all these security cams? This is a general question: often when I see a security cam footage I have problems telling the gender of the person, much less actually recognize a face.

Does your baby cam record video?

The answer is storage. The higher the quality, the more storage needed. Traditionally storage (originally tape) was expensive. Saying that, digital storage is cheap as chips now . but then you need to update the security system.

You are right; I didn’t think of that. The baby cam video goes onto the manufacturer’s cloud. With a little effort, I could put it on my NAS, but since it triggers only when motion is detected, I’m happy with the short clips I can check on my phone.

Wow. Why would one want baby camera videos stored? Do you go back and look at historic nights?
“Will we watch a movie on Netflix?”
“Naw, Do you remember that night in March when little Johnny was restless, let’s rewatch that”

I did this once. I met a friend at a bar for lunch, we got grub and were chatting away merrily until we suddenly realized that lunchtime was well over. We jumped up and rushed back to work. Halfway back to the office i got a call from the friend asking if I had paid for the food because she hadn’t. Eh, no.

Walk of shame back to the pub to pay. The barman just laughed and said it happened all the time.

A German acquaintance once told me that, in Germany, if you ask the waiter for the bill three times and don’t receive it, then you’re entitled to walk out without paying. Anyone know if that’s true?

If you need to go for a dump and there is no toilet available, a Garda has to give you his hat, or so an acquaintance once told me.

The practice where they mark your beermat for each drink served and you pay up at the end of the night wouldn’t work well here.

Perhaps with a bit of social engineering, it may be probable.

          Everything is possible, nowadays!

          Thanks, Covid.

In the pre-euro days an Irish 5p coin was the same size and weight as a German 1DM and could be used in Germany in (cigarette) vending machines.

If I remember correctly, the Irish government at the time ended up paying the German government the DM equivalent to get the coins back .

The old Irish Penny(which our house had a stash) worked on cigarette machines seeking the new Irish Pound coin, too.

I, however, do not feel the need to cough.
