‘I decided to shuffle the sizing down, hence why a week before launch I came on and I said the sizing is now 6-8, 10-12, 12-14, 14-16 and get the 16-18 and 18-20 made properly and true to their actual size and to drop them as soon as I could get them in.
‘I obviously didn’t communicate that message well enough, I didn’t express the back and forth I’d been having with why the 16-18 and 18-20 couldn’t have been made as well as the smaller sizes.’
Influencer Roz Purcell after some questioned why her ‘Hike Life’ clothing range’s largest size, XL, measured in at a size 14-16.

With evidence that obesity is unhealthy and just dangerous, how long before we need to accept that being obese is not acceptable.
I like to think the vast majority agree with you there. But the minority who disagree shout louder in public than the majority who agree. Does anyone really believe that Roz is turning to her partner or friends in the evening to say “Oh god, dear me, I really let down the overweight people, how could I? I’ve made such a mistake.” Not at all. But here she is, playing the game as they all do. And we all know what they’re doing. And the fat people probably know what she’s doing. Everyone knows what’s really going on here and no one is really saying it, except a few anonymous commentators in the bottom half of the internet.
as I see it the problem starts with a lack of understanding of how many carbs you are supposed to eat ( portion sizes and balance, just look at how over served you are in any restaurant or how it’s served eg: lasagna AND chips …ffs ), lack of experience of variety of foods so unfamiliar with cheap healthy ingredients like lentils, chick peas, root veggies and basic cooking techniques,
a decent learn the basics class starting in primary school would be great.
Secondly people are in general carrying a little more than they should in this country, when everyone is the same and everyone tells everyone else sure you’re grand, you wear it well, it suits you etc, well why change when you are the ” norm”.
Thirdly slim people get snide remarks, sure you’d drown in that pint etc, oh ” he takes care of himself ” like that’s something weird , so while it’s not PC to comment on a more cuddly/ burly frame it’s open season on a fit one, what’s that about, my tuppence
In fairness now please, I’ve never ever heard anyone ever say that about slim people.
I have
am torn on this
on the one hand. yes, i like to tease and laugh at fat people as much as anyone else
but, on the other hand, they do serve a useful purpose: when i see one, does spur me to run a little faster and a little further
it takes all sorts
Well, you could say plastic surgery is unhealthy and dangerous, and that people should accept their bodies.
You can still promote a healthy diet and regular exercise and leave it at that.
Do you drink? Because if you do I’ve some bad news for you.
If small is 8/10, medium is a 10/12 and large a 12/14 and XL a 14/16 what’s the issue ? Isn’t that regular sizing in any high street ?
XS: 4
S: 6-8
M: 10-12
L:14-16
XL: 18
https://ie.boohoo.com/page/size-guide.html
Although ASOS have them all moved up :
Dual Size UK XS / 6 UK S / 8-10 UK M / 12-14 UK L / 16-18 UK XL / 20
TheIrishstore has:
XS: 8-10 S: 10-12 M: 12-14 L: 14-16 XL:16-18 XXL: 18-20
Asos does be hanging off a regular size 12
and asos now has no 10/12 ? probably why their ” 12 ” is actually a 14
you skipped 8/10 there in your first set of figures
Did I?
boohoo says:
XS is a 4
S is 6 or 8
M is 10 or 12
…
boohoo my nether regions,
what size are you urself Cian,
and what age are you ?
you’ll find a top shop 12 ( aimed at teens early 20’s ) is not a Dunnes 12 , aimed at wemon,
similarly a French 40 is large while it’s medium in the UK,
my point is it varies wildly between brands, generally the cheaper brands such as H and M aimed at a younger market will have smaller sizing, but this ladies sizing isn’t wildly off .
also I was talking about high street sizing, internet shopping clothes like asos and boohoo you always have to count a size up,
because they market to not just UK but Europe and Asia where ( Europe) like I said an Irish medium 12 is counted as large ( 40 ).
* up / down
Surely 12 is XL?
no it’s medium unless you’re 4 feet tall or prepubescent
All I see here is woman designs product range, elements of range not up to scratch, holds them back releases other parts of product range and then gets slaughtered for not releasing poor quality clothing! Jog on people!
And the jogging on might even mean they can fit in the available sizes.
im usually an XL but her XL range I could swing a cat with the extra room. Being a man it would usually be the other way ’round.
Dr Pork pie ? explains the flatulence ;)
do fatties fart more ?
stop it you brat
if I was sensitive about my weight I wouldn’t be mentioning it on broadsheet! Also I would’ve topped myself years ago with the grief Kitty used to give me over it.
Thank God for Liz and all the other oh so attractive influencers, life would be intolerable without their collective advice and suggestions. I don’t know how we managed before they became so numerous and popular.
right ?! god I’d hate to be a teenager boy/ girl right now with all this bull a flick on your phone away
