This afternoon.
Leinster House, Dublin 2.
Cayla Hollywood (top), of McKinley School of Dance, joined fellow members of Performing Arts sector of Ireland holding a silent, socially distant protest over the continued closure of businesses.
The group includes dance school owners, drama and stage school owners, dance teachers, professional dancers and others.
They are calling on the government to reopen their sector, since sports and similar activities are being allowed to re-open under the easing of restrictions this week.
30 students can sit in a classroom and it’s deemed safe, the same students can go to their gym for a PE class and that’s allowed. Some of them can go do gymnastics after school, or go to a private gym for a work out, but the rest aren’t allowed go to their Irish dancing or ballet class? Why are the arts sector being treated to different rules than the sports sector?
Ummm…
Are you not on the side of the “lock everything down! You’re killing old people!!!” argument?
I guess the virus just isn’t dangerous anymore. What a Christmas miracle!!!
.
.
.
P.S. I bet it’ll be dangerous again in January.
I’m on the side of social distancing and safe environments which these dance, drama and music classes are.
It’s a pity ratlickers can’t differentiate.
What’s a ratlicker?
…take a long look at yourself Micko…or even a short glance in a mirror…
Ah come on BS mods
Bisted, Daisy, Brother Bananas can go around calling people stupid, rat-lickers, right wing nutters without any moderation?
And from today I get all my posts checked by a mod now it seems?
What is going on?
…ah here Micko…I didn’t call you any of those names…the more prosaic pro-sickness perhaps but not ratlicker…and it was you that protested several times that you definitely were not a right-wing nutjob…
You literally called me a rat licker above when you told me to look in the mirror.
But sure It’s grand.
just open anyway. the government are all over the kip, no one knows what’s meant to open and whats not, least of all them. during level 5 there was a nail salon open in stillorgan, a flower shop in donnybrook, all sorts! just open ur dance class. no ones coming to shut it down.
The “sector”, particularly in Theatre, is heavily over populated. As a result all we get to see these days are 50 minutes “audition’ pieces, under the guise of a one man/woman shows. Most times there is no work for designers, directors and writers on them. CoVid will bring a much needed cull to these ranks, when only the talented and not the ambitious, will survive.
Dance like no one is watching ?
You won’t get more socially distanced than that
In fairness like
I hope she’s wearing woolly drawers.
