..Asked if there were 1,000 or more cases lockdown would have to be considered, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said the scenario is possible but not inevitable and still “within our grasp to avert it”.
“We are not trying to scare people. It is plausible,” he said referring to the potential projections.”
Hands up who thinks this is already a done deal? The idea is clearly being seeded in the minds of the public: “you’ve had your fun and misbehaved at Christmas, as a consequence the only option is back to higher tier lockdown”.
Considering vaccine roll out is planned for January, then it must make perfect sense from the cynical perspective of those who’ve been treating us much like lab rats since the start of this whole thing: “The public must be ‘nudged’ into doing what we want them to do”. The carrot and stick approach. Because the threat of rolling lockdowns is such a powerful means of exerting pressure on the public to behave in a certain way, I think it would be naive to think that threat would ever be allowed to go away of its own accord right at the time the vaccine is arriving. The government is too heavily invested in mass uptake of the vaccine at this point – . financially; pressure from powerful external players and not least, to shore up their own narrative and try to maintain a level of public credibility

Dr. Roger Hodkinson is the former Chairman of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons committee in Ottawa, he was once CEO of a large private medical laboratory in Edmonton, Alberta, and for the past 20 years has held the position as Chairman of a Medical Biotechnology company based in North Carolina currently tasked with selling a COVID-19 test. He is a medical specialist in pathology, which includes virology, who trained at Cambridge University in the UK.
In this interview he questions the motivations and reactions of politicians during this ‘pandemic’- how the PCR ‘case’ tests are wrong as often as they are right and with no confirmatory testing are then used by the media to whip up hysteria, how the flu has disappeared worldwide, the power of teachers unions and the impact of masks on children.
“This is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on an unsuspecting public in human history- it is on that degree of scale.”- Dr. Roger Hodkinson.
You two – SOQ and Lawless – get a room. Where you two get the energy for this conspiracy nuttery defies belief?! The effort on a Saturday morning to type this drivel.

Dear oh dear SOQ, you have an uncanny knack of leaving out crucial contextual details. If these guys attract and nurture every kind of conspiracy nut, then that is kind of relevant. You also, if I might say, have a terrible tendency to exaggerate and surrender to the same vice as those who you criticise: excessive deference to your own “sources”. Scepticism is good – being equally as dogmatic and ideological as your enemies is not.
SOQ
So Dr. Roger Hodkinson is a conspiracy nut then is he?
I do read a lot about the subject, on both sides, but what is notable is that one is always in the media while the other very rarely, if ever, is.
I probably could put forward the arguments you claim to support better than your good self except I happen to think balance is important.
Take Marcus De Brun for example, a man who had a genuine issue to raise and yet, had no choice but speak where he could.- all credit to John and Broadsheet btw.
But instead of discussing the merits of his arguments, he was chastised and ridiculed and bullied for his ‘guilt by association’; and the lack of self-awareness by some of his critics was astonishing.
Bottom line is- this is an important topic and if you are not interested then don’t read it- but you will now won’t you?
Then bitch and complain of course.

The Royal College, where Hodkinson was certified, also distanced itself from the statements of Hodkinson.
Medical professionals and state officials have all come out against him and his comments.
So remind me again why this one individual is ‘correct’ and all the other medical experts are incorrect?!
If you spent half as much time using common sense rather than trying to reinforce your own opinion to yourself and others, this BS saga would have ended a long time ago.

Or you could say that we are being treated as adults and being told the consequences of acting in a particular way.
If we, collectively, are sensible then new year will be phase 3. If we, collectively, aren’t sensible the new year will be level 5.
We need to decide individually if we are going to act sensibly or not. Unfortunately the consequences will apply collectively.

Have you seen Sweden lately? It’s not quite how you portray it. Schools closed, close to 5,000 new cases daily and over 7,000 dead, “serious deficiencies” in their treatment of elderly care homes, 237 cases in ICU and another 1,800+ in hospitals, a higher case fatality rate than Norway, Finland, Denmark and the US, gatherings of more than 8 people banned, alcohol sales stopped at 10pm.
Tegnell said in August that Sweden was unlikely to see a second wave but last month admitted he was wrong.
Eamon Dunphy’s The Stand podcast has almost weekly reports from Sweden that are well worth a listen for anyone interested in the truth of the situation there.

Yes and no.
There are two aspects to this: a medical and a social/economic one (or is that three?). NPHET advises on the medical aspect only, the politicians take that advice and decide what makes sense for the country.
f_lawless
Sure, in theory that the way one would hope things would work. Health experts make public health policy recommendations to the government. The government should weigh up the costs and benefits to society at large before making the final decision whether to implement the recommendations.
– in Ireland’s case however the advice coming from NPHET has often been based on science that has already been politicised. eg. the WHO changing their recommendations on mask wearing
– in the case of Sweden, their health authority, led by Tegnell, has largely resisted political influence. But now the politicians appear to be having a go at playing public health experts by coming up with their own rule about a limit of 8 at all gatherings
ReproBertie
Perhaps the Swedish politicians are reacting to the rising deaths and cases that they were told by Tegnell wouldn’t be happening.
