We’re all in this vaccination lark together lads, according to the EU.
‘”We have all agreed, legally binding, that there will be no parallel negotiations, no parallel contracts … We’re all working together.”
Unless of course you’re Germany in which case it’s Deutschland uber alles as German politicians and media call the EU’s deals a “vaccination disaster,” claiming it hasn’t secured enough doses.
‘ Commission lets Germany off the hook for coronavirus vaccine solidarity breach.
‘Germany confirms it will receive 30 million extra BioNTech/Pfizer doses outside of EU deal.’
It’s possible that the shameful death rate per million in UK and rising numbers of infection is driving the urgency of the vaccination rollout there.
Not that we should be complacent or accepting of poor implementation here.
UK vaccination rate per 100 persons = 2
UK deaths per million = 65.4
IRL vaccination rate per 100 persons = 0.32
IRL deaths per million = 11.94

More on the EU’s ‘ vaccine-gate ‘ as it has become known.
Ugur Sahin, the founder of the German company BioNTech which jointly created the first jab with Pfizer says the EU ordered so few doses of the BioNTech shot last summer that it is now at the back of the queue for scarce supplies.
‘ Back of the queue ‘ ?
I’ve heard that phrase somewhere before …
What’s that you say ?
Is our man in Brussels on the case ?
Of course not – EU shill RTE’s Tony Connelly just parrots the Brussels line and it’s left to his Twitter followers to do the reporting for him.
He’s more interested in Percy Pig.
Oh look, Charger is obsessing over the EU again. Always focused on Europe.
Wonder why…
Charger Salmons
It could be because I live in the EU, pay taxes towards it and want to be able to hold it accountable for decisions it takes which affect my life.
I’d like this country’s media to do the same thing as well but it doesn’t.
You might be happy with that but I’m not.
Charlie
“It could be because I live in the EU..” Haa..Yea, sure it is. It’s because you’re embarrassed by your nation and will do anything to justify their withdrawal. You still believe you rule the waves. You’d hate to think a European might be better in any way, shape or form. You’re colonial arrogance is only matched by your desperation.
ce
Just like the UK you do that by voting every couple of years – unlike monarchy
The media is a business, just like other businesses they cover what they want.
You are free to set up a media outlet, political party etc. and try to do better
Haroo
Constructive and fair criticism is one thing.
Constant carping and comparison regardless of the issue only highlights the inferiority complex you have as a little Englander toward the big EU is another thing.
The slow rate of vaccine roll out is a fair issue to criticize. Coming from someone who cannot recognize any of the UK’s challenges, faults, mistakes and who is almost a poodle for their leader’s indecision and poor choices weakens the criticism.
The goal of your criticism is to try to boost the standing of the UK by comparing it to larger, more powerful entities. You need to bring others down as the UK cannot rise on its own.
Charger Salmons
I only offer useful comparisons between the UK and Ireland because that appears to be the way so many people on here judge this country’s success or failure.
They never compare Ireland with any other country in Europe.
If that is the yardstick by which Ireland judges itself you can hardly blame me for picking it up and running with it on something as important as vaccines.
In fact as you’re well aware the majority of my comments on here recently have been about the EU’s abysmal vaccine failure and the lack of journalistic questioning of it by the Irish media.
The response from most of the yeahbuts on here has been the exact same comparison with the UK that you complain about.
And hardly a word about the issue itself.
It’s part of a national trait here to not want to criticise the EU for fear of being seen as unpatriotic.
In that sense Brussels has a vice-like grip of this country’s nads.
2/10/09 and all that.
Brother Barnabas
with all due respects, charger, you’re on here 24/7 carping like a imbecilic schoolboy about how great the UK’s vaccine rollout is.
by any measure, the UK has utterly made a bollox of things since march – and sad testament to that is the pile of dead brits. and it’s a pile that grows by the day. it’s out of control. there’s blood on johnson’s hands. he fupped up massively because he’s a bumbling, indecisive coward.
yet you’re focused on the EU?
in your own words, get off your knees and make some effort to be a man
if you had any human decency, you’d stay well away from selective covid oneupmanship
a big ‘if’, I acknowledge
Haroo
Ah Charger, don’t do that, why do you have to go and write something reasonable and fair.
Charger… We agree on something.
You are right, we do compare ourselves to the UK too much. I suppose it is due to history, culture, media and language. A more fair comparison for Ireland would probably be Denmark (size, population) but the social economy of Ireland and Denmark is again not that comparable. In this sense, once again the UK is more similar. But I genuinely agree that in many ways it is silly to compare ourselves to the UK. We face very different problems in both nature and scale
I don’t think it is about patriotism. I think it is more about ignorance or disinterest of/in the EU. The EU has been an overwhelming force for good here. I know that is not the same for everyone. A variety of factors contributed but the EU has been one of the most significant reasons behind us breaking free of insular and path dependent old mindset (some would say, in favour of a new path dependent mindset but anyway…). We are a small country. We will always fall into someone’s hegemony. We are still to this day in the UK’s social and cultural hegemony. The UK is within the EU’s political and economic hegemony (as are we).
What is our alternative? Especially in the context of our past? To leave the EU and return to a more dependent relationship with Britain? At least we have a wider dependency and some semblance of representation and control.
We are used to not being the big boy.
But overall I agree with the silly comparisons with the UK. We look over the fence at England too much. I always remember being at a football match at the old Lansdowne Road and Ireland were playing some muck team and winning 3 or 4 nil and the crowd started chanting “are you watching Eng…a…land”… Why would England be watching and why would England care? I barely cared

“Within days of [Sasamach] taking effect, scores of companies around the world announced they would not – in the short term – be doing business with UK clients, and vice versa, because of these new frictions.
Edward Heyward, author of Slaying [Sasamach] Unicorns, compiled a preliminary list of 140 companies which had declared through their websites they had suspended trade.”
Connolly’s article is pretty much on the ball. Charger doesn’t like facts though.

Oh free speech my foot. So it took inciting an attempted coup and 5 dead for Twitter to have the balls to do what it should have done years ago. You see, I expect this propaganda crap from the genocidal CCP, the theocratic Iranians and Putin and his thugs, not from a president of the USA.
You can be damn sure if you or I tweeted a scintilla of what Trump came out with over the last 4 years of chaos and Iies, our accounts would have been taken down faster than you can say “Q for president”!
ce
“not from a president of the USA” – at least not in their own country

“Inciting an attempted coup” ?
You’re just making things up now.
What Trump actually said was: “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard!”
Truth don’t matter when you’ve got big big lies to hide…

millie bobby brownie
Bodger, if I may ask;
how, in your opinion, is Twitter banning Donald Trump from their platform in any way different to you deleting comments on this platform? Or, to take another (perhaps more accurate) example, when Memes was banned for his repeated and often abusive posts, despite him being a long-time commenter on this platform?
Brother Barnabas
to be fair to BS, in my experience, at least, they only delete comments that are rude, insulting, or threatening – and that’s surely fair enough?
…their gaff:their rules…at least that’s what I’m repeatedly told…which is fair enough, but an inconsistency has emerged which is disappointing for some of us who comment here…
SOQ
Brother Barnabas sez they only delete comments that are rude, insulting, or threatening.

Free speech, are you serious? Coming from a forum that moderates swear words and (doesn’t actually) remove posts that criticise this ‘policy’?
That’s rich bodger – bordering on the hypocritical.
Charger Salmons
If you need to swear online to make your point then the point is not worth making.
Rather like endless ad hominem attacks being indicative of an ill-educated halfwit frustrated at his own deficiencies.

Brother Barnabas
might there be an opportunity for clemency/forgiveness on that one, bodger?
…alas, were it only potty mouths or drug addled scamps…you have forged some strange allegiances and championed a succession of lost causes over the years…but your current position giving a platform to the casual racists and ratlickers is disappointing to those of us who are propelled to the naughty step for the tiniest perceived slight…
deluded
I will agree on the harsh language thing, it’s reductive, and also that removing threats, libel etc. is understandable. I don’t think that BS would accept other carry-on like calls to march on the Dáil to fight to overturn an election but I’m not here every day.

We are all here on soapboxes – good that the facility is available with not too much moderation in my opinion.
The traditional conduits for Free Speech

Hard Ink papers, journals, magazines. pamplets, posters and flyers
Hard stone engravings and Cave wall drawings
The Town Hall, The Pulpit the Soap Box
Speeches Songs Satire Poems
Even Cartoons Caricatures and Puppets
Performances and Plays
They all still exist, believe it or not
Trump even used the pulpit himself to address those that turned up there this week
remember to do the right thing
Or this lad, https://twitter.com/DermotNCosgrove/status/1347522131354148866?s=19 all he needed was a marker and some paper
Yet even old school methods pre-colour telly pre-electrification haven’t served those that are currently being banned and gagged by these Social Media Giants all too well
Nothing stopped all those screaming about Democracy being denied and betrayed there in DC this week actually reading their Constitution
Or their own History
or looking into their voting practices and the disparity in how its enabled, and the counting systems and methods
Or going into the Courts to see for themselves
Nothing
Anyone who blames Social Media platforms for stifling free speech
really needs to have a chat with themselves
and maybe get up of the Couch and go to their Library
Or their Town Centre
Or learn to connect a printer to their devices, and leave their hub and get out into the public street and share their words
I’m not disagreeing with the thrust of this btw Democracy should guarantee Free Speech
I don’t like that Google controls so much of that Village Square as such
Or that Jack Twit can gag someone with a huge audience
Or that Mark Zucks can influence your decision making
Their Gaff Their Rules
Happens here too
Maybe its time for all these recently disconnected to start a different revolution
The Analogue Revolution
Bitnboxy
Whole problem is the utter lack of regulation of these online platforms so these private companies simply deploy their own standards applied wholly inconsistently. If you or I tweeted a whit of what Trump has come out with, we’d be long gone and blocked but apparently if you are a person of note with a large following, it sort of takes inciting actual murder and mayhem to get yourself blocked.
Say what you like about the God-botherers on Grafton Street or the Westboro Baptist Church brigade: they have the courage and neck to stand on the street, placards and faces in full view for all to see. But on Twitter the most vile are the most anonymous – that cannot continue. You want to peddle racism, homophobia, religious strife and crackpot conspiracies- show your face!
Maybe that was Trump’s initial appeal
Everything he had to say
He said it all himself
As for his more radical fervent supporters
I do think the majority were heavily influenced, even coerced, by a few that knew what they were doing, and took advantage. And if even just for that, Trump should be held responsible for allowing citizens be manipulated because it served his own interests.
The big Tech/ Social Media crowd are a law onto themselves
And that’s what needs to be tackled by way of some global commission
Maybe in the same way the World dealt with nuclear disarmament, landmines etc
And more recently – Climate Change
There is always self control and choice of course
Just delete your Facebook account (n’ the like)
Charger Salmons
On the plus side if social media platforms are now making editorial decisions this presumably means they can’t argue against being sued for libel for publishing defamatory content.
This could be fun…
Papi
I thought you’d be more upset that racists are being silenced. Given your own agenda like.
Hmmmm?
Of course you’re not going to answer cos it’s too close to the bone.
Isn’t that right Kate?
Rosette of Sirius
Meaning they’ll crack down even harder on the likes of Trump and those who post problematic content.
But here’s the real story…
Right wing conservatives – “we want to deny service to whomever we wish. And just in case we’re not clear, we don’t want to make your wedding cake because your you’re a homo gay.”
Twitter – “Game ball, we won’t allow you on our platform because of your incessant racism and this week, your incitement of riots and assault on democracy”
Right wing Conservatives -“ whaaaaaaaa. We didn’t mean it that way….”
Of course it was pure coincidence that the day the social media companies decided on a coordinated attack against Trump
was the same day they learned Democrats would chair all the congressional committees that oversee them.
Pure coincidence.

Does it have a strong editorial view? I find it to be fairly balanced, and at least it allows discussion from all sides, and debates are mostly respectful.
Regarding the big Twitter/Facebook ban, that’s sure to reaffirm those right leaning, that all their warnings were true… Democracy is based on the agreement that all should have a voice, it’s more likely to result in violence if you try to silence your opponent, instead of reach agreement.
Bad move.
Nigel
If democracy is dependant on monopolistic tech giants, democracy is screwed. Considering they’ve been the vector for right-wing attempts to overthrow a democratic election and undermine public health, it’s a bit late to start worrying about their corrosive effects on democracy when they beltedly ban anti-democratic forces and their propaganda. Also, it’s great that you’re worried about what this affirms to anti-democratic people, rather than what the actions of anti-democratic people affirm to the rest of us.
Brother Barnabas

Nigel, great comment.
My take on it is that I am not in favour of silencing free speech, even if I do not agree with the opinion I think people have a right to be heard, ideas put forward and it is the job of those who oppose to argue against and dissuade.
However, I believe a lot of groups hide behind a veil of free speech. Actively planning and organising illegal activities and brainwashing people is not free speech. It is taking advantage of vulnerable people, indoctrinating them and encouraging them to commit crimes/acts that harm and endanger others and themselves.
These groups seek to set the parametres of what they are doing within the confines of free speech. We do not have to accept that as it is proven not to be the case. Sharing ideas and voicing opinions is one thing. Organising and manipulating is another.
It is not black and white. It requires judgement. It is complex. Everything has to be looked at in its own context and it cannot be subjected to “what about… what about… what about…”.
goldenbrown
“Democracy is based on the agreement that all should have a voice”
sorry, that’s all too vague bo-boo-ology right there Scundered, you can exclude Facism from the “all” for starters

Daisy Chainsaw
No interest in the “both sides” balderdash. That’s how we got Trump and Bojo.
Ireland hopes to have around 235,000 people vaccinated by Easter.
The UK is planning for 24 million people to be vaxxed by then.
Even the smallest country in the EU, Malta, is currently delivering more Covid jabs than Ireland.
In the media compare and contrast the soothing banalities over vaccinations from the Irish Times with letters from their readers demanding answers to questions their hacks should be asking of this government all day every day.
And certainly on live televised briefings instead of behind closed doors.
The usual suspects on here should be getting pissed off too if you weren’t lethargically handicapped by an overwhelming inferiority complex and admitting defeat after years of being dumped on by the EU and their drones in Leinster House.
Sure Have Inferiority Troubles meter above 9 already this morning. Remind us again where a state of emergency has been declared, with 1 in 30 having the virus, and in some areas 1 in 20.
Not much fun in London. Not much laughter.

It’s odd indeed. I say this because 5 nursing homes here in Limerick avoided covid from last March are now infected .Local TD’s have put up lists of when nursing home residents will receive 1st vaccine ….my relative will receive it towards the end of January. Why the delay to the most vulnerable?
Charger Salmons
Morning Kate – probably because there isn’t enough to go round, the Government hasn’t a clue how many and when vaccines will arrive and they’re pulling the wool over the eyes of the country about their ineptitude and that of the EU’s over vaccine procurement last year.
Judging by the myopic comments on this forum they’re succeeding beyond their wildest dreams.
Mind you, they’ve had plenty of practice to get it right over the years.

jeez Charger
one person at a time please?
here’s a good one for ya, Vincent Vega @ M&S this morning:
…one of the things we learned from government dithering last time was the threshold where the fortress that was built around nursing homes to protect the most vulnerable would be breached…it looked like when the daily rate of new infections reached 1000…today the daily rate was over 8000…but hey…xmas…
ReproBertie
Despite Spoofer’s claims, which he never backs up of course, the Irish government know that we are getting 40,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine every week. 40,000 doses per week mean not everybody can be vaccinated at once so a schedule obviously had to be laid out. As more vaccines are approved by the EMA doses will increase and the numbers vaccinated will grow with that.
ReproBertie
What Spoofer won’t tell you is that Ireland has vaccinated more people per hundred of population than France, Austria, the Netherlands or Belgium.
The only way he can assuage his inferiority complex is by running Ireland down.
Charger Salmons
Numbers of vaccinations delivered in the UK are going to be published daily from Monday onwards.
When do you expect Ireland,if at all,to follow suit ?

ReproBertie
Kate, the Minister for Health has said that within 16 days all 70,000+ care home residents and more than 70,000 healthcare staff will have been vaccinated.
The plan is that they will have their second dose administered by mid-February.
ReproBertie
There have been calls for the numbers to be included in the daily briefings so hopefully they follow through on that. Not many countries doing it at the moment though.

Here
A Saturday morning nudge Charage
https://twitter.com/Sal_feeko/status/1347682028922298371?s=19
•́ ‿ ,•̀
It’s possible that the shameful death rate per million in UK and rising numbers of infection is driving the urgency of the vaccination rollout there.
Not that we should be complacent or accepting of poor implementation here.
UK vaccination rate per 100 persons = 2
UK deaths per million = 65.4
IRL vaccination rate per 100 persons = 0.32
IRL deaths per million = 11.94
@charage – you are out of the EU, so don’t worry about Ireland.
11.13pm!? You’re on the case early today Tommy. Too much cheap wine? Can’t sleep? Won’t sleep? Too concerned about the Millwall fans back home?
My money is on Madam Charger pleading the headache and he came here to assuage his frustration.
ha! more like madam charger has a puncture
(⊙o⊙)
Aye, he went for the expensive model that’ll go down on him
Oh bravo!
lol
Lads.
He actually used the word “lads”.
Like he thinks he’s accepted as a viable human being.
Ha. The cheek.
I’ve heard that phrase somewhere before …
http://www.spectator.co.uk/article/the-eu-has-botched-its-vaccination-programme
What’s that you say ?
Is our man in Brussels on the case ?
Of course not – EU shill RTE’s Tony Connelly just parrots the Brussels line and it’s left to his Twitter followers to do the reporting for him.
He’s more interested in Percy Pig.

You’re the human equivalent of a pay toilet.
(◠‿・)
Oh look, Charger is obsessing over the EU again. Always focused on Europe.
Wonder why…
It could be because I live in the EU, pay taxes towards it and want to be able to hold it accountable for decisions it takes which affect my life.
I’d like this country’s media to do the same thing as well but it doesn’t.
You might be happy with that but I’m not.
Just like the UK you do that by voting every couple of years – unlike monarchy
The media is a business, just like other businesses they cover what they want.
You are free to set up a media outlet, political party etc. and try to do better
2/10/09 and all that.
with all due respects, charger, you’re on here 24/7 carping like a imbecilic schoolboy about how great the UK’s vaccine rollout is.
by any measure, the UK has utterly made a bollox of things since march – and sad testament to that is the pile of dead brits. and it’s a pile that grows by the day. it’s out of control. there’s blood on johnson’s hands. he fupped up massively because he’s a bumbling, indecisive coward.
yet you’re focused on the EU?
in your own words, get off your knees and make some effort to be a man
if you had any human decency, you’d stay well away from selective covid oneupmanship
a big ‘if’, I acknowledge
You’re not fooling anyone ye spoofer. You just can’t help yourself being the knowall arrogant chest beating individual that you are.
In other news, Haroo totally destroys charger.
Delightful.
“It’s part of a national trait here to not want to criticise the EU for fear of being seen as unpatriotic.”
What hilarious codswallop.
We rejected 2 EU treaties until they made amendments to satisfy us.
@Haroo
Always up for a decent debate with someone whose default position isn’t abuse and vitriol.
Saves me having to feel sorry for the simpletons I put on the naughty step for being boring.
It wrecks their head.
Chattering and jabbering away to no avail.
Heh,heh,heh.
Tomás, your infatuation with Tony Connolly is worrying.
No surprise really. Tony keeps bursting Sasamach bubbles. Better to attack Tony than face these truths.
“Within days of [Sasamach] taking effect, scores of companies around the world announced they would not – in the short term – be doing business with UK clients, and vice versa, because of these new frictions.
Edward Heyward, author of Slaying [Sasamach] Unicorns, compiled a preliminary list of 140 companies which had declared through their websites they had suspended trade.”
https://www.rte.ie/news/2021/0108/1188595-tony-connelly-brexit/
Connolly’s article is pretty much on the ball. Charger doesn’t like facts though.
another doozer I heard about recently from a family member who’s a professional gardener
many of the trees and plants he’d normally order up for use in projects have been suddenly delisted with so far no clue as to what comes next, think it’s connected with this little nugget:
https://www.farmersjournal.ie/british-soil-to-be-banned-from-the-eu-from-2021-582982
oh noooooooo
Apparently the woman trampled to death at the Capitol was carrying a ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ flag…
And the fellah who died of a heart attack had some misfortune with a taser. He accidentally tased his groin when trying to steal a painting. Again apparently.
Meanwhile,
https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/08/twitter-suspends-trump-account-456730
Further, Parler has been removed from the Google Play store and Apple has issued a 24 hour warning.
Oh.
Deep breaths Bodger, deep breaths.
How strange that anyone should be celebrating social media giants attempting to curb and control free speech for millions of people.
Hi lemmings, the cliff is thataway …
+ 1
Oh free speech my foot. So it took inciting an attempted coup and 5 dead for Twitter to have the balls to do what it should have done years ago. You see, I expect this propaganda crap from the genocidal CCP, the theocratic Iranians and Putin and his thugs, not from a president of the USA.
You can be damn sure if you or I tweeted a scintilla of what Trump came out with over the last 4 years of chaos and Iies, our accounts would have been taken down faster than you can say “Q for president”!
Lots of free speech at Camp Auschwitz.
Oh, I dunno. Don’t be messaging about storming the Capitol then failing in the attempt to capture and execute the TRAITORS.
Why am I not surprised that you two seem to think that what went down this week was fair game?!
Bodger, if I may ask;
how, in your opinion, is Twitter banning Donald Trump from their platform in any way different to you deleting comments on this platform? Or, to take another (perhaps more accurate) example, when Memes was banned for his repeated and often abusive posts, despite him being a long-time commenter on this platform?
to be fair to BS, in my experience, at least, they only delete comments that are rude, insulting, or threatening – and that’s surely fair enough?
…their gaff:their rules…at least that’s what I’m repeatedly told…which is fair enough, but an inconsistency has emerged which is disappointing for some of us who comment here…
Brother Barnabas sez they only delete comments that are rude, insulting, or threatening.
I am currently ironing the doberman eh clampers?
Now you tell me how we are all supposed to make a living you narcissistic puritan.
now that’s a bit rude and all
I’m on day 3 of a week long ban on Twitter. Apparently the “Fock Your Feelings” fan club doesn’t like it when you fock their feelings!!
Free speech, are you serious? Coming from a forum that moderates swear words and (doesn’t actually) remove posts that criticise this ‘policy’?
That’s rich bodger – bordering on the hypocritical.
If you need to swear online to make your point then the point is not worth making.
Rather like endless ad hominem attacks being indicative of an ill-educated halfwit frustrated at his own deficiencies.
Broadsheet seems to attract quite a few of these but shows endless patience…
well that’s the pickle up the botty, as my nan used to say:
charger criticising those who make ad hominem attacks…
Moderation in 3…. 2….. 1……
ha that’s brilliant
Charger is the result of allowing free speech.
Scottser, in fairness, we have banned only one person in more than 10 years (and he still manages to nip back in, the drug-addled scamp). I think there is some support for our zero tolerance on potty mouths also.
might there be an opportunity for clemency/forgiveness on that one, bodger?
…alas, were it only potty mouths or drug addled scamps…you have forged some strange allegiances and championed a succession of lost causes over the years…but your current position giving a platform to the casual racists and ratlickers is disappointing to those of us who are propelled to the naughty step for the tiniest perceived slight…
I will agree on the harsh language thing, it’s reductive, and also that removing threats, libel etc. is understandable. I don’t think that BS would accept other carry-on like calls to march on the Dáil to fight to overturn an election but I’m not here every day.
Who got banned, was it sǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq? For what?
We are all here on soapboxes – good that the facility is available with not too much moderation in my opinion.
China is certainly happy that Twitter is vindicating its crackdown on dissidents and free speech.
Nice work Twitter.
https://mobile.twitter.com/HuXijin_GT/status/1347724482966814721
Twitter is one thing. I’d love to see Pelosi go forward with another impeachment.
Follow the signs that say ‘Brexit This Way,’ all hand-painted by Robert Mercer.
how is banning him from their platform an attempt to control free speech? he’s still free to say whatever he wants – just not on twitter
anyway, not to worry: Donald’s monologue show starts on Fox in mid-February
he can say whatever he wants there
but now that he’s off Twitter, what’s he going to do while sitting on the jax?
Donoalogue or Trumplogue – time to break out the focus group
“but now that he’s off Twitter, what’s he going to do while sitting on the jax?” – make a logue…
Due respect lads
The traditional conduits for Free Speech
or methods if you like
Hard Ink papers, journals, magazines. pamplets, posters and flyers
Yes Yes
And have another one Bitox
Yes
Just delete your Facebook account (n’ the like)
On the plus side if social media platforms are now making editorial decisions this presumably means they can’t argue against being sued for libel for publishing defamatory content.
This could be fun…
I thought you’d be more upset that racists are being silenced. Given your own agenda like.
Hmmmm?
Of course you’re not going to answer cos it’s too close to the bone.
Isn’t that right Kate?
Meaning they’ll crack down even harder on the likes of Trump and those who post problematic content.
But here’s the real story…
Right wing conservatives – “we want to deny service to whomever we wish. And just in case we’re not clear, we don’t want to make your wedding cake because your you’re a homo gay.”
Twitter – “Game ball, we won’t allow you on our platform because of your incessant racism and this week, your incitement of riots and assault on democracy”
Right wing Conservatives -“ whaaaaaaaa. We didn’t mean it that way….”
Fox Con Schadenfreude.
https://youtu.be/KvtvLZ8U3TM
Of course it was pure coincidence that the day the social media companies decided on a coordinated attack against Trump
was the same day they learned Democrats would chair all the congressional committees that oversee them.
Pure coincidence.
I think the groin-tasing one was a joke that went viral.
Seemed a bit of a stretch alright. But with that said, play stupid games, win stupid prizes as they say.
You will have a fishy on a little dishy
You will have a fishy when the boat comes in
And you’ll have to keep them and watch them rot. Isn’t that correct Charger?

Putin’s work is unfinished. Comrades Farage and Charage are on the frontlines.
Trolling on broadsheet is hardly the front line
It’s literally all he has.
Strange not to see any posts about Donny getting kicked off Twitter. Or much about him at all over the last day or two. Doesn’t fit with Broadsheets editorial view though so not that surprising I suppose.
All Bodger want you yo know that ‘It’s coming’ and ‘it’s inevitable’.
It’s part of The Plan.
“ We will storm the government buildings, kill cops, kill security guards, kill federal employees and agents.
Trump WILL be sworn in for a second term on January 20th.
It’s Trump or war.”
This is the plan. Any comment, Bodger?
We know that now.
Bad move.
+1 as always, N
It wasn’t that long ago that social media was getting the credit for helping to introduce democracy via the Arab Spring.
Was aiding democracy then really that different than ejecting anti-democracy people from their platforms now?

Weird that you leave out Reality Winner, though…
…facts Nigel…Snowden even revealed that comrade Gilmore was giving briefings to the yanks/zionists…but then in your world it’s ok because they are the good guys…
I don’t let the bad actions of the US and Israel drive me into bed with Putin, at any rate.
…that’s right…I heard from people in the know on Broadsheet that sleepy Joe got his help from the Chinese this time…
I’ll bet you did.
“Democracy is based on the agreement that all should have a voice”
sorry, that’s all too vague bo-boo-ology right there Scundered, you can exclude Facism from the “all” for starters
your LC history book alone will show you what happens next if you interpret that “all” as everything/anything, not everything/anything can be viewed as nor should be acceptable

Charger’s Vax Fact #10
Ireland hopes to have around 235,000 people vaccinated by Easter.
The UK is planning for 24 million people to be vaxxed by then.
Even the smallest country in the EU, Malta, is currently delivering more Covid jabs than Ireland.
In the media compare and contrast the soothing banalities over vaccinations from the Irish Times with letters from their readers demanding answers to questions their hacks should be asking of this government all day every day.
And certainly on live televised briefings instead of behind closed doors.
The usual suspects on here should be getting pissed off too if you weren’t lethargically handicapped by an overwhelming inferiority complex and admitting defeat after years of being dumped on by the EU and their drones in Leinster House.
https://www.irishtimes.com/opinion/letters/government-and-vaccination-programme-1.4453531
They’re laughing at you again.
Sure Have Inferiority Troubles meter above 9 already this morning. Remind us again where a state of emergency has been declared, with 1 in 30 having the virus, and in some areas 1 in 20.
Not much fun in London. Not much laughter.
Apart from… heh heh heh
It’s odd indeed. I say this because 5 nursing homes here in Limerick avoided covid from last March are now infected .Local TD’s have put up lists of when nursing home residents will receive 1st vaccine ….my relative will receive it towards the end of January. Why the delay to the most vulnerable?
Morning Kate – probably because there isn’t enough to go round, the Government hasn’t a clue how many and when vaccines will arrive and they’re pulling the wool over the eyes of the country about their ineptitude and that of the EU’s over vaccine procurement last year.
Judging by the myopic comments on this forum they’re succeeding beyond their wildest dreams.
Mind you, they’ve had plenty of practice to get it right over the years.

…one of the things we learned from government dithering last time was the threshold where the fortress that was built around nursing homes to protect the most vulnerable would be breached…it looked like when the daily rate of new infections reached 1000…today the daily rate was over 8000…but hey…xmas…
What Spoofer won’t tell you is that Ireland has vaccinated more people per hundred of population than France, Austria, the Netherlands or Belgium.
The only way he can assuage his inferiority complex is by running Ireland down.
Numbers of vaccinations delivered in the UK are going to be published daily from Monday onwards.
When do you expect Ireland,if at all,to follow suit ?
Asking for an elderly relative with underlying health problems …
Kate?
Papi…..65 new special advisors at cost of 15 million should have no difficulty in giving facts on the distribution of the vaccine. 8 elderly in a nursing home in Newcastle West have died , many more afflicted , staff being ferried down from Dublin . You think Charger is joking because he looks for transparency from our government?
Kate, the Minister for Health has said that within 16 days all 70,000+ care home residents and more than 70,000 healthcare staff will have been vaccinated.
The plan is that they will have their second dose administered by mid-February.
There have been calls for the numbers to be included in the daily briefings so hopefully they follow through on that. Not many countries doing it at the moment though.
Did you manage to find examples of the media in each of the other 26 EU states raging against EU incompetence? Or was that just another load of anti-EU and anti-RTÉ hot air?

Even though the competition has been de-valued in recent years I love this round of the FA Cup.
Spurs away to Marine and Chelsea at home to Morecambe.Marvellous.
And in further sports news the Irish cricket team lost to the United Arab Emirates last night.
To put the result into context cricket is a game played entirely on grass and the UAE is in a desert.
Hup ow dat !
The FA Cup is an appalling competition played in a half hearted fashion by footballers who don’t give a monkeys or even care about it’s tradition. Token football.
For a bit of light reading may I recommend this piece by Rod Liddle in the Speccie if only for his wonderful description of the SNP’s Westminster leader Ian Blackford ‘ with his brow perpetually furrowed in consternation and his tiny mouth puckered like a woebegone anus ‘
Oh that is so good.

You’re such a lonely little man, aren’t you?
lonely, sad man more than “little”
Big on the outside, tiny where it counts.
another 737 dropped out of the sky just after takeoff :(

737-500 not a MAX apparently
(you can recognise a Ryanair MAX, it’ll have 737-8xxx painted on it’s nose)
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jan/09/ashli-babbitt-capitol-mob-trump-qanon-conspiracy-theory
this is an interesting insight into the beliefs of ashli babbit, the 35 year-old US air force vet who was shot by police during the Capitol commotion
assesses her tweets etc over the past year to chronicle her radicalisation into conspiracy theory mindset
– thought WHO out to get us? check
– believed mask recommendations to be a ruse? check
– believe lockdowns at attempt to suppress and condition the people? check
– against vaccines? check
– believed there was widespread electoral fraud to steal the election from trump? check
it’s a template of beliefs – utterly unoriginal – yet the Broadsheet conspiracy crew will tell us they’re the only ones capable of independent, intelligent thought…
Give Marxism-Leninism a chance!
STPU man.
Killer comeback dude.
Any thoughts on Marxism-Leninism and BB’s support of it Millie?
Of course not. Don’t bother with Wikipedia. I wouldn’t bother reading your effort at a reply petal.
unless you’re a fop of the bourgeoisie, you’ve nothing to fear, Yep
itll be a velvet revolution leading to equality and compassion
what’s not to like ?
Maxism-Leninism-McCartneyism is the future
Maybe you could be a people’s judge Barnacles? Do the night shift remotely from wherever you fancy depending on the season.
Clueless.
EDIT: It just dawned on me that this is probably a troll job. I hope for your sake it is.
how many days a week?
and could it be done remotely? i’m not sure. may need to see the whites of their eyes.
I could just take a leaf out of your book and whinge
STPU
couldn’t i?
@ millie
Work away. It would require context like I provided for my STPU to be comparable.
Or you could just ignore something you’re not involved in or even understand. Up to yourself. Take your time.
I dont want to expose myself as not being one of the cool kids, but what even is “STPU”?
even google doesnt know
Oh poor me! How could I ever possibly understand Leninism*?
*I very much enjoy Russian history, thank you, and am always appreciative of a good book recommendation if you have one. Otherwise I don’t appreciate the implication that I’m unable to grasp a concept like Lenin’s interpretation of Marxist theory, or the context in which your comment was made. My point still stands – your comeback was shit, mate.
A typo.
oh… I suspected
that’s impolite
…glad somebody asked…it was the CAPS that should have been the giveaway…
