Buried under all the noise eminating from the States this week were two more effective treatments identified for Covid-19 in a British clinical trial: rheumatoid arthritis drugs tocilizumab and sarilumab.
From now, hospitals in the UK are being encouraged to give ICU patients tocilizumab which appears to reduce mortality rates by 24%.
The rapid scientific fightback in the 9 months of the pandemic has been truly remarkable.

      Charger’s Vax Fact #11
One third of all over-80s have now been vaccinated in the UK including I’m delighted to say my lovely mother-in-law.
200,000 people a day are now receiving jabs.
      Great effort.

        1. Charger Salmons

Hi me – I’m very happy with the one I’ve got tbh.A lovely woman and fortunately in Lady Charger the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

          1. goldenbrown

hm. this is getting interesting Brother….

I see you’re going with the special inflatable friend theorem

wheras I’m going with the transvestism angle

who are we to judge I suppose but would u fancy a small wager?

          2. Brother Barnabas

he mentioned in a previous comment that mumsy was being a real stickler about him wearing her stockings and leaving the sex-wee-wee in them

getting ‘Kate’ on the internet was actually her idea, said it was closer to what the other boys were doing

          3. goldenbrown

well now Brother…see I wasn’t going for such a direct sex angle like yours atall atall (although he may well be rewarding himself with some celebratory autoerotic Mrs. Doubtfire episodes when someone real agrees with him on a subjectmatter under discussion here and on whatever other message boards he tries to participate on….maybe this has become more difficult of late i.e. the bringing them out into the open on discussion threads here…a reward spiral tsk.)

but I’d be more inclined towards alter egos rather than blowup friends (all imaginary of course so we’d concur there I suppose)

for me the logistics involved in hiding/managing/maintaining 3 or 4 different blowup paraphernalia from his mother would be a fairly big ask under the same roof…..she’d surely cop the special deliveries from Japan alone, no?

his use of the queens English is reasonably good, my guess is that mam forced him to take elocution lessons as a child while all the other boys were out playing football on the street (that’s probably where the transvestism started with Ms. Strictpants McNursemaid)

there’s Mrs Charger, a Mother in Law (classic that), Kate (possibly a Katie Hopkins character?…watch out imaginary Mrs Charger, lol) and probably a few others configured in line what he believes his various gammony worship icons like Farage, Mogg, Partridge, Arghleen, Wilson, Kitchener, Churchill et al might find attractive. see where I’m going there?

btw. what you wrote there got flashburned onto my eyes for a while but it’s gradually fading off so no harm done. I think.

    2. Charlie

What’s “remarkable” is Tommy Charage now being first to post each day and the UK officially holding the number one spot for most deaths in Europe. Remarkable too is that only the United States of Fruitcakes have a higher death toll.

      1. bisted

…in fairness, if the UK had implemented Charger’s arthritis remedies, the death toll would only be 60000 instead of over 80000…

  2. Haroo

Jesus, it looks like the SAS are going after Dominic Cummings from the front page of the Star.

The man resigned, leave him be…

    1. Cú Chulainn

I think I have come to really like the Star: psycho gulls, killer spiders, plague rats, demonic teens, scary ghosts, killer storms, crazy clowns and now.. aliens.. never a dull moment…

  3. ReproBertie

The UK’s Road Haulage Association warned Mr Gove that introducing some of the world’s most complex customs processes with next to no training and implementation time and insufficient capacity left industry “one storm/Covid event/boat breakdown” away from having serious supply issues between the North and Britain.

Mr Gove said on Friday that difficulties in moving goods between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK will get worse before they get better.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSL1N2JK0EA

    The Sasamach omnishambles rumbles on.

    1. Cú Chulainn

It’s a shocking admission by Gove. And so glib. Either the UK have decided to ferment social unrest in the North (to what end ?) or they are pushing to get rid of the failed state and ditch the c.£10bn they spend/lose every year in propping it up. Now, as they have very little hope of being allowed to walk away, that leaves social unrest. Other than being a supposed tool with which to beat an indifferent EU, what do they really hope to achieve ?

        1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

I blame the parents, the education and the bubble of privilege that leads to a complete lack of understanding or empathy for the voters and their lives

  4. GiggidyGoo

Josephine McAfee (Boris’ mother in law) moving into Downing Street to help him out with the child, while Carrie concentrates on running the country.
Or is it to protect her?

  5. Charger Salmons

Ronald Reagan once said ‘If fascism ever comes to America, it will come in the name of liberalism.’
The unilateral banning of Trump in a co-ordinated campaign by social media platforms on the day Democrats assumed control of the Senate committees that oversee them will set a precedent.
The Biden administration will not only be in their pocket but every despot and dictator around the world stamping down on free speech will simply be able to justify their actions by pointing out what Twitter and the rest did to Trump.
And Putin and China will use Twitter to do it while they poison and incarcerate their own citizens and undermine Western democracy.

    1. Nigel

Just to clarify, are you calling for some sort of government regulation of the private companies that run social media?

      1. Rosette of Sirius

You know, and as I alluded to yesterday, this is all the Republican’s making.

No wedding cake for the Gays, no Twitter for the insurrectionists and the inciters of riots.

        1. Nigel

Not familiar with Polish laws but ‘organising an attack on Capitol buildings’ probably isn’t consistent with a few.

          1. bisted

…you probably weren’t familiar with Ukrainian law either when a mob attacked the Capitol building in Kiev…the home of the democratically elected government…

    2. scottser

The issue is not about free speech, it is about being held accountable for the things you say. But idiots like you never see the difference.

      1. V aka Frilly Keane

Well Dominion v Sidney The Kracken Powell will be a very interesting watch here

Especially testing whether she was acting for a client
        Or not
        Under a professional engagement
Like will she be permitted the benefit of Client Attorney Privilege protection
and whether her Professional Indemnity holds up

Worth staying in touch with anyway

        1. Rosette of Sirius

The moment she left Trump’s team and was no longer litigating for her client, yet continued to defame(as per their lawsuit) Dominion in the public domain suggests she’s on a very very weak footing.

          1. Brother Barnabas

youd have to assume she received notice of the action a while ago – certainly before it became public knowledge

and assume that was the reason for the split

designed to protect one of them

          2. V aka Frilly Keane

I just read into the split that it was an opportunity to fundraise separately
            Under their PAC conditions
Away from the Political Campaign and GOP
And away from the Oval Office

I never considered it was to put Trump out of thr reach of Dominion

            Thing is
Was there ever an engagement letter holding up the relationship
Was there ever an actual client giving instructions to their lawyer
            Who was she acting for?

      2. Rosette of Sirius

That’s why I love this particular XKCD panel.

        https://xkcd.com/1357/

It should be made clear tho’ that the stuff Trump was saying and tweeting is not protected by the 1st Amendment and that’s why he’s in such deep doodie-town.

        1. V aka Frilly Keane

I reckon that VP Pence was put in harm’s way is what will get him into more trouble
Than his rants on the Twitter

          Btw
All those lads smiling for the Cameras there the other day
Now being pictured in line up perp walk profiles
Really did think Trump and QAnon had their backs

Now who is responsible for that

        2. Cian

          And the mouseover text says:
“I can’t remember where I heard this, but someone once said that defending a position by citing free speech is sort of the ultimate concession; you’re saying that the most compelling thing you can say for your position is that it’s not literally illegal to express.”

    3. Lush

It is a fine line alright; a veritable Pandora’s box.
These huge corporations self regulate; they decide who has the right to ‘free speech’ and who doesn’t.
It is something that needs to be looked at very carefully.
I have no answers and no suggestions and I am no fan of Trump or anything he, seemingly, stands for.

      1. V aka Frilly Keane

I’m very uncomfortable with the whole tech billionaires controlling so much of the public Voice
Their Platforms have come to be our everyday forms of communication and public discourse, news gathering, updating and sharing
We all walk around them everyday

Twitter & Co created all these Patriot Q Trump etc audiences and followers
They enabled the whipping up, the meme’ification and the organising
They created that marketplace and opened up those forums
And then they took it all away – all in collision, together, like a cartel
        Like Price Fixing

That’s far too dangerous for all of us – no matter what you use their platforms for

And bare in mind – this Silicon Valley VVIP guest list did nothing when vulnerable people
People who were desperate to be seen and heard and to belong in a Country that only cares about Fame, Winners, Power & Wealth
Were being exploitated by self interest and narcissistic con artists. And there most definitely was plenty of that going on within the Q MAGA circuits lads. Trump himself has collected over 300 million under Stop the Steal campaign alone

These Tech giants built churches and pulpits and opened them up to shady fake preachers in the revival tent tradition, for free, and digitised their fake miracles and watched on as they passed the collection plates around, and maybe even took a cut
So they are just a culpable for what happened last week

But – seeing what’s being circulated in the last couple of days
Like from the likes of Lin Wood etc – emergency blackout being part of the plan
        FFS
Or about that poor girl that was shot, real or not, a gun was fired on the news from inside the Capitol building, so shut up

I do find myself sliding into a tis for their own good at this stage
And I don’t like that about myself one bit

      2. Daisy Chainsaw

The Free Market decided that Trump was bad for business. Demanding a private company go against their profit driven business plan is communism.

        1. V aka Frilly Keane

          Or market control / manipulation
Like Price Fixing, Tariffs, and Quotas etc

Let’s see what the private sector have to say about providing finance and working capital & credit to Trump Inc

In fairness to the Conspiracy sets
I know they put a lot of work into it n’all
But all China Russia and Iran
And all the other bad actors out there have to do
Is buy his tickets and own his debts

No finance provider would say no to the full value of the loan + 50%
          Just saying

Btw. Communism has created more Billionaires than the land of the Free n’ what have you

      3. realPolithicks

Twitter has not interfered with trumps “1st amendement right to free speech” in any way. trump is still free to say whatever he wants he simply can no longer use their platform to spread his message of hate anymore. Doubtless he will find other ways.

    4. scottser

      He also said
‘Approximately 80 percent of our air pollution stems from hydrocarbons released by vegetation”.

  6. Charger Salmons

It’s certainly a funny old world where the President of Iran is allowed to keep his Twitter account to regularly use it to issue death threats against the West.

    1. Nigel

This is a good point. It must be a like a cheese grater to the balls for him to lose his account while the President of Iran gets to keep his. He loved that account more than he loved gold toilets.

    1. GiggidyGoo

Shouldn’t you be directing your ire at peoplesrepublicofcork.com which banned you?
(now, why did they do that?)

    2. bisted

…never thought I’d be quoting Ronald Regan or an Iranian religious leader but I’ve written down those truisms about liberals and the failed zionist project…never thought I’d hat-tip a jingoistic brit either…but thanks Charger…

  7. GiggidyGoo

https://leave.eu/ the pro-Brexit group….. fronted by former UKIP leader Nigel Farage and bankrolled by Aron Banks………

‘LEADING THE WAY OUT OF EUROPE” is their byline.

And they move its registered domain address from the UK to Waterford, Ireland, Europe.

Hah hah hah, heh heh heh.

  8. Charger Salmons

    @Haroo.
Further to our polite conversation yesterday about the inferiority complex regularly displayed on here.
Some posters complain that I post news about Blighty on an Irish forum.
Others bemoan the domination of UK titles in the display of daily papers on here.
So on a day when Ireland faces its biggest public health crisis in its history and the vaccination programme ” needs a miracle ” there has still not been a single post about Ireland on here as we approach midday.
    Seems like you were right.
    They just can’t help themselves.

        1. Cú Chulainn

Yeah.. but.. they are both’Irish’.. but tatyo probably best in a psycho gull potential attack butty.. stronger flavour ..

    1. Charger Salmons

      And yesterday Haroo ?
I56 replies with only one poster ( Kate ) questioning the Irish response to the pandemic and one other ( the spirited Bertie Begorrah ) putting up a defence of it.
No wonder this government can get away with any old rubbish it foists on its unquestioning citizens if the gormless chumps on here are anything to go by.
      They’ve given up the fight.

      1. Brother Barnabas

charger, you’ve turned yourself inside out, now a pathetic cringe with nothing new to say

time to take a break and reinvent it

      2. Lush

Ah lads, Charger is just an agent provocateur; and every day this place becomes ground zero for apoplectic righteous indignation.
Right, I’m ducking down behind the parapet again.

        1. Charger Salmons

Not just that Lush but they follow each other around like a human centipede in case one gets lost or isolated.
Nose to backside all trotting along, none of them with anything fresh, original or interesting to say.
I’ve corralled so many of them in Chumps Corner I’m running out of people to have an intelligent conversation with.
Perhaps I should seek pastures new.
          Or perhaps not …

          Heh,heh,heh.

          1. Papi

She didn’t say “rohypnol” charger. You really have gotten yourself into a bit of a confused tizzy today.
            Marvelous.

    2. Charlie

You confuse “inferiority complex” with irritation. Lest not forget that it’s your very self who kicks off most days here chest beating about the mighty UK in some form or other. Your nasty arrogant habit invites and deserves every ounce of ridicule it receives. You are a wart on the site.

    3. ReproBertie

“on a day when Ireland faces its biggest public health crisis in its history and the vaccination programme ” needs a miracle ” there has still not been a single post about Ireland on here as we approach midday.”

Of course it could be that many people come here to get away from all that.

      1. Charger Salmons

Making fun of another country’s Covid response seems a strange way of getting away from the problems of your own country’s Covid response.
Especially when it’s always the same country and never any other in the political union that is responsible for your life-threatening vaccination programme.
But whatever floats your boat …

        1. Brother Barnabas

this is what I’ve been telling you for the past week, charger

good to see its finally got through

how many of your countrymen dead today ?

          1. Papi

Poor charger Kate has gone so far up himself he’s comes out the other side and is now complaining about his own behaviour.
Now that’s how you do self hatred, children.
            Marvelous.

          2. Brother Barnabas

it all began when he started tucking his mickey between his legs, standing in front of the mirror and coquettishly whispering to himself, “hi big boy, may name is Kate”

            now look where it’s ended

          1. millie bobby brownie

I just went full lockdown 2020 and made banana bread. A cheats chai spiced banana bread. Delicious toasted, with a slather of butter and a pot of good coffee, and the best excuse I can think of to justify having cake for breakfast.

Let me know if you want me to share ;)

          2. Charger Salmons

Spaff Apple Pie surely V ?
            Homage to a Hollywood movie.
It’ll go down a storm with your pals in Chump Corner.

          3. Charger Salmons

Or you could try some Chump Corner Crumpets.
            Like ordinary crumpets.
            But much much thicker.

          4. Lush

            Snap Millie!
I did a banana, date and walnut loaf; thick slices, lots of butter and a cup of Barrys.
Soothed the trauma that is the Sunday papers on Broadsheet.

          5. Nigel

Broadsheet should do a series of baked desert recipes and call it Trust The Flan thank you and good night.

  9. GiggidyGoo

Mother and Baby Homes report – leaked to the Independent. Isn’t it about time a serious investigation is done into who is doing this leaking? We had Leo The Leak already caught leaking. Is he still at it?
    https://www.thejournal.ie/roderic-ogorman-angered-mother-and-baby-home-report-5321335-Jan2021/

Roderic O Gorman is ‘deeply angered’. (Funny that he wasn’t angered at all about Leo’s leak of confidential documentation to his mateys and even voted his support for Varadkar)

    1. V aka Frilly Keane

Also leaked by the Dept to the Bons girls

Worth also pointing out their own Confidence & Supply agreement with what might also be the biggest Private Healthcare provider in the World

      Just saying

  10. Charger Salmons

Talking of fishies on the dishies when the boat comes in it seems there’s quite a few organisations experiencing early post-Brexit teething issues.
‘ Agriculture minister Charlie McConalogue criticised for the “chaotic” handling of a permit system for Irish fishing vessels in British waters. ‘
    https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-40204241.html
It’s only ten days since the transition period ended so of course as with Revenue stepping in to help out unprepared Irish road hauliers, things will take a while to bed down …

    1. GiggidyGoo

Ha haaaa. In the meantime, the UK can catch as many fish as they like basically, but can’t sell them into Europe. So if they do catch them, they’ll have to watch them rot. DFDS Transport won’t take fish from Scotland to Europe at the moment. The easiest trade deal ever eh?
Plus, it isn’t the haulers that aren’t prepared, as they have to rely on shippers and clearance agents to get their documentation in order before they can even apply for PBM. The shippers and clearance agents of course are…UK ones.
      Do try keep up.

  11. Charger Salmons

    Sacre Bleu !
Talking of the continent there’s a good story coming out of France.
Napoleon Macron and his pensioner missus are under fire for spending €600,000 on flowers for the Elysée Palace last year despite it being closed to the public.
    That’s nearly 5 times
more than their predecessors Francois Holland and Nicolas Sarkozy spent on blooms for the official residence.
Let them eat cake etc etc …

    1. V aka Frilly Keane

      You’re one sick fúpp
      Seriously
      Pensioner Missus

I’m all for a bitta wumming – but you’ve said that too many times here

Broadsheet – who I have stood by, supported and contributed to
Lads, who I have ran and played with here below the line

if this is what ye are all ok with

      Count me out
      Go FY

      1. Charger Salmons

        Mon Dieu !
        Sick ?
Brigitte Macron has been a pensioner for five years.
France’s pension age of 62 is one of the lowest in the OECD and its pension costs the highest.
Toy boy hubby Napoleon has been wrestling with unions for years to try to reform the country’s archaic and chaotic pension rules.
He’ll get nowhere with their three hour lunches and four day weeks though ..

        1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

god forbid a work life balance or even working to live instead of living to work,
scoffing down some nice processed carbs in twenty minutes at your desk, getting absolutely poofaced on Friday in an effort forget your narrow miserable life…

          1. millie bobby brownie

Get the gaviscon into ya, my love. I couldn’t eat for the heartburn. A diet of super splits and Rennie, with gaviscon for special occasions

          2. Charger Salmons

            Esomeprazole (Nexium)
            The dog’s nuts.
Wheat tends to set me off which is a shame because I love my toasted sourdough and Marmite for brekker.

          3. millie bobby brownie

Funny, but anything high in fibre does it for me. Brown bread, porridge, shredded wheat – all things I love for brekkie.

          4. Charger Salmons

            Me too.
I love the rabbit food like Alpen but it gives me fierce gyp.
There’s a generic version of the Gaviscon suspension called Acidex which is about a quarter of the price.
            Check with your pharmacist.
They don’t tend to push it for obvious reasons.

        2. V aka Frilly Keane

What business is it of yours
          Seriously
          A retired school teacher
In an entirely different duristiction and Country
And married to a person not connected to you

          Seriously
And you’re obsessed with the lady
          It’s quite sick
          It’s probably harrarrassment tbh
          That you would involve yourself
          Occupy yourself
          Impose yourself
Actually make it your business – a point you have repeated
And repeated, and repeated, and repeated

It might be normal for you Charage
          But this kinda obsession
          Actually isn’t normal
It’s like counting out the number of changes are in your lover’s drawer

          Lads
Ye might not think this is ok
          I understand
          But it’s actually not

          Make your choice
