Yesterday’s Sunday Independent
“The plan is that it will go to the Cabinet that week, and following the Cabinet meeting, the Taoiseach and I will host a webinar solely for survivors at which we will discuss and bring out the major conclusions of the report for survivors. It will only be after that point that it will be available. We will hold a press conference for the general public, but we will be engaging with survivors first and telling them first.”
Minister for Children Roderic O’Gorman, December 3, 2020
“It is extremely disappointing that the leak has occurred. Survivors were given clear assurances about how the release of the report would be handled. The publication of details of the report in the media today flies in the face of this. Minister O’Gorman needs to set out how he will establish how the leak occurred.
“He also needs to set out again how he will consult with survivors and survivors’ groups and ensure that assurances made about how the report will be released will be honoured.”

Good times.
Friday: A Week of Reckoning
looks like the Sindo was taking a leaf out of Terry Prones’ damage control handbook..
In an email to survivors of mother and baby homes, Minister O’Gorman said it was always his intention that survivors should be the first to hear of the main conclusions of the commission’s report, and the actions the Government plans to take on foot of it.
He said his department has worked hard to maintain the confidentiality of the report prior to publication, and to arrange for the first public airing of its contents to be with survivors in the online forum being hosted by the Taoiseach and himself on Tuesday, following the Cabinet meeting.
“I was deeply angered to see details of the report leaked in a newspaper this morning. I am very sorry that many of you have found out elements of the report in this way. It is not acceptable.”

I have my suspicions as to possible sources of the leak
one or a n other
and I don’t like either of them one bit
This is going to get very nasty in the next few weeks, between a number of groups and stakeholders
so hopefully the leak will be identified / sourced asap
but shure Varadker led the way on the leak “normalization” front so nothing will happen here
just like that jokey orange baby post here on BS a few mins ago depicts: “it’s not illegal if no one punishes me”
all part of the new approach to communications at Kildare St. these days
When all your assistants are ex media, what do you expect?
RTE has just reported major tension between the Greens and FF over this leak. If I was Roderick I’d call in the Garda and do my upmost to find the leak. It is very difficult for any minister –one with principles -to work in such an environment .
Can’t disagree with that. It shows an appalling lack of regard and respect for the survivors of the mother and baby homes. Disgusting carry on by the Sindo as well. Shameful.
If this was leaked by a sitting minister then they should lose their portfolio immediately. Utterly disgraceful behaviour.
If he had any principles him and his party would withdraw from government. He won’t do that though.
He voted confidence in Varadkar after the leak of confidential documents. That’s the extent of his principles. This is also a leak.
“Yeah, a few bones were found…”

A clap for Catherine Corless and for Broadsheet.
Thanks Otis Blue for this reminder.
“It is very difficult for any minister –one with principles -to work in such an environment ”
You saying he has principles?
surely if leo didnt get fired for leaking then whoever leaked this has a get out of jail free card
Jody Corcoran is a toerag for running with this.
Why is the leak such a big deal? Don’t we need to know what went on there?
