Tomorrow Tonight.
Lockdown sceptic and ‘old leftie’ Dr Marcus De Brun (top left) currently under investigation by the Medical Council for speaking out against covid policies, previews tomorrow’s front pages.
Saturday’s FT front page reports mounting concern among EU leaders about Pfizer’s decision to cut vaccine production by nearly a third until some time in February amid growing anger at the EU’s incompetence over acquisition of the vital jabs.
The UK will also be receiving fewer of their vaccines but fortunately Boris Johnson’s decision last summer not to be part of the EU programme means two million doses a week of the British/AstraZeneca jab will make up any shortfall.
Meanwhile, England hit a new daily vaccine doses record with 279,647 vaccine doses administered yesterday (274,793 1st doses, 4,854 2nd doses).
The total number of people who’ve had at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine in the United Kingdom as of yesterday is 3,234,946 (up 316,694 on the day before)
That is 4.84% of the total population.
Up,up and away for Blighty’s supercharged vax to the max.
Inevitably …

Plenty of room on the Tesco shelves for more vaccines too – maybe you can swap them for food with the EU
Charger’s Vax Fact # 18
More people have now been vaccinated in the UK than have tested positive for Covid-19 since the pandemic began.
335,233 in the last 24 hours with a running total of 3.5million.
Marvellous.
The Craic We Had The day We Died For Ireland
Well clown man, you’re extremely selective with numbers and statistics. Let’s take death rate per million population and cases per million.
Death rate per million – UK 1,282, 9th highest out of 221 countries, will be 7th after tomorrow. Ireland 511, 48th highest in world.
Cases per million – UK 48,709, 25th highest in world. Ireland 33,528, 49th highest in world.
I know you are quite limited but if you look at those numbers for a minute, would you like to comment on them?
A word of advice Joe he isn’t going to reply to you!!!!
I asked him a few questions a while back and he just ignored me. Even though he is very fond of writing on here he didnt reply to 4 or 5 requests from me. He just has no answer!!
He’s not going to stop either so all we can do is have a good laugh at him. Some one was saying recently he was banned from another website for what he was posting!!
He has a lot of “issues” shall we say!!!!!
I cannot for the life of me understand why Broadsheet tolerate his wine fuelled nasty modus operandi. I’d be very curious to know why?
As would we all.
Ah no
There’s room for everyone
If it’s a question of tolerance – something we should all exercise on a daily basis
Then I’ll admit to having difficulty when a commenter, and Charage is the best example here btw
When a commenter deliberately targets a private individual
A person who isn’t a user here, or promotes themselves or their views publicly, anywhere
And is only known to the likes of Charage, and us TBF, by who they are related to
Now that’s a long held thing with me, lads may recall that was the only censorship we routinely exercised back on the first stage of Clarehurlers.com
When lads got into mocking a player’s wife / girlfriend, other relatives, on their appearance / private & personal lives, people who kept themselves to themselves, other than being seen with or accompanying in a private & personal capacity
Then the post was immediately deleted
And I still stand over that
Again, for those that missed it before
You can easily get the measure of Charage
By what he doesn’t answer
When tolerance is a one way street and when it’s taken as weakness or, God forbid, agreement, then it gets nasty.
In chargers case, it replaces the love and respect he craves in real life that is totally beyond his reach.
Clare hurlers what?
Ah don’t worry

Have a happy safe weekend y’all.
“growing anger at the EU’s incompetence over acquisition of the vital jabs.”
You keep saying this like it’s a thing. In fact you said that the Irish media was the only EU media not reporting on this “anger at the EU’s incompetence” but, with 26 states to choose from, you couldn’t provide examples of this reporting. We know there’s some anger in Germany but it’d be great if you could point us towards the articles from across the EU.
“the British/AstraZeneca jab” lol
Do you edit the daily express in your spare time by any chance?
In respect of vaccines EU …” member states are again paying the price for Franco-German rivalry ” .
https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/france-s-covid-response-is-a-source-of-national-shame
Interestingly the French media is doing exactly the same job as the Irish media in shielding the public from some very painful home truths.
But you said, without providing any evidence of course, the Irish media was the exception when it came to reporting on “anger at EU incompetence” over vaccine acquisition.
Groundless anti-EU and anti-Ireland claims? Par for the course from you.
” Please sir, can I have some more …”
Just another figure that you are ignoring completely clown man. As I said your beloved disunited Kingdom is 9th highest out of 221 countries for death rates per million of population from the virus. That will be 2 places higher in the list after todays figures are given as they are a tiny fraction behind 2 other countries.
So your great hero Bozo is doing a great job based on those figures???
In my opinion, Ireland is doing not very well at all, and we have nothing to shout about. But the UK are doing much worse clown man.
More? I’d settle for any evidence at all at this stage.
For the love of god please just ignore him.
Post after post, day after day, all of them begging for someone to please pay him some attention.
+everything he’s living proof that cancel culture doesn’t exist but that toxic right wing edgelords have no boundaries.
…talking about toxic right-wing edgelords…was I hearing things when Marcus deBrun asked where were the left-wing when they were storming Capitol Hill last week…John Ryan?
Not if you’re shopping at a Supermarket in Blighty
Not at all Charger. It’s well covered; the government has gotten a roasting for both the slow roll-out and the delay in delivery of the Pfizer vaccines.
A roasting ?
More like a gentle simmer from their chums in the media.
I want to see them getting uncomfortable under live TV lights at 5pm every day as Boris and Hancock have been doing for the past 10 months and not a behind-closed-doors briefing with George Lee giving his spin on it later for the masses.
What have they got to hide from except the truth ?
I keep banging on about it but it is exactly the reason why success governments have got away with the crap they’ve got away with through all the banking crisis, recession,Brexit and now Covid.
It’s a fine tradition of media-government omerta that goes all the way back to Haughey.
PS: Apologies as I’ve just seen your latest post that refers to France but the same applies here.
Just one article from my local newspaper, as an example:

Oh I say.
Queues of elderly people waiting for their Covid jab in one of the most beautiful cathedrals in England.
All the pews have been removed for social distancing in Salisbury Cathedral, home to Blighty’s tallest spire and best-preserved Magna Carta.
One of the first in for a vaccine was 91-year-old retired RAF tail-gunner Louis Godwin. Those fellows flew some of the most dangerous bombing missions in WW2 hanging out of the back of a Lancaster bomber with just a glass canopy for protection from Hitler’s Luftwaffe – so a quick jab from a nurse holds no fear.
Marvellous stuff altogether.

Hopefully I’ll be updating you with the UK’s latest vaccine numbers fairly soon if you can hold on to your excitement …

Very good Tomorrow Tonight.
I agree, lots of interesting points. If, according to the CSO, 20,000 people between the ages of 0-24 have been diagnosed with Covid, not one of whom has died, why are the 0-24 age group being given the vaccine? According to Marcus de Brun, normal practice is not to give vaccines to those who are not at risk.
How about Broadsheet invites Luke O’Neill on to take part in a live debate with Marcus de Brun?
…I trust Marcus knows more about medicine than he does about Ulysses – bullockbefriending bard is a charge made by ‘professor’ McHugh of Stephen Dedalus in the Aeolus chapter…but Marcus seems to pick and choose to suit his narrative…29 dead in Norway as a result of covid vaccination…surely, any reaction, especially a death would be widely reported…
https://apnews.com/article/denmark-coronavirus-pandemic-norway-coronavirus-vaccine-europe-51e350b246b4bc4ad92e009626c15844
“The Norwegian Medicines Agency on Thursday reported a total of 29 people had suffered side effects, 13 of them fatal. All the deaths occurred among patients in nursing homes and all were over the age of 80.
The agency listed fever and nausea as side effects which “may have led to the deaths of some frail patients,” Sigurd Hortemo of the Norwegian Medicines Agency said in the body’s first report of the side effects.”
Bit of a disappointment to find the vaccine can kill the most vulnerable elderly patients. Aren’t they the very ones dying from Covid? The vaccines are intended to reduce deaths in that very cohort yet appear to be doing the work for the virus instead.
There is no point whatsoever in a healthy person under 55 getting this vaccine. They don’t need it. Their own immune system is perfectly capable of fighting off the disease.
Imagine that. A handful of terminally ill and extremely frail very elderly people dying. Well I never! The article also says the “Norwegian medical agency are not alarmed”… but Matty is!
C’mere Matt. Do they sell those selective reading glasses up there in cloud cuckoo land?
“terminaly ill”… Making stuff up doesn’t win any confidence in your arguments.
Stick to the reported facts please.
Also, is “extremely frail”?
Says you, not the report.
Virus predominantly kills people in their 80’s = close down world society.
Vaccine predominantly kills people in their 80’s = sure… it’ll be grand so.
;p
You got a pair of them glasses too?
Is that not what you said?
Those particular old and frail people don’t matter?
Adjust your glasses there Mick. Gwan out for a 5k walk.
Ah, sure I’m only winding you up Charlie.
Life is nuanced sure ;)
Good weekend to you sir
0-24 aren’t getting vaccines until the very last in line. under 18 aren’t approved for it either. Nevertheless this age group are alot of cases and vaccines will help eliminate the virus
it’s literally a non issue to bring up
Just a point of information, it seems like the Norway numbers are 29 adverse reactions, including 13 deaths, from about 30,000 vaccinations.
I doubt Luke O’Neill gets out of bed for anything less than 4 figures these days
And rightly so. He’s got more positivity to offer than all the daily news reports combined. More of this please.
Lilly, we will!
XIt’s funny how Reuters news agency is able to document the anger in Brussels among EU countries aghast at news the production of the Pfizer jab is being scaled down at the very time it’s needed.
https://www.irishtimes.com/news/world/europe/eu-states-warn-of-risks-to-vaccination-credibility-as-pfizer-slows-supplies-1.4460340
Yet RTE’s highly-paid EU shill in Brussels Tony Connelly is absent from the game, worrying instead about Leave.EU re-locating to Waterford and the demise of the UK parliament’s Future Relationship with the EU Committee.
https://mobile.twitter.com/tconnellyRTE
In a week in which RTE reports big financial losses surely it would be much cheaper to recall Connelly and give his job to Guy Verhofstadt ?
Nothing to do with the price they agreed with the EU
Versus
The selling price the UK shook hands on
Of course (◔‿◔)
Mebbe one of the lads could put up the different price agreements there again – to refresh everyone’s memory
Meantime, I’m still waiting to hear from you about where the AstraZenaca Vax was coming from,
Just in case you forgot like
The Head of the Covid-19 National Vaccine Taskforce has said there will only be a modest impact to the rollout of the vaccination programme by a temporary reduction in supplies of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine.
Professor Brian MacCraith said: “After a stressful day, it has been very relieving news to hear from Pfizer this evening that the proposed reduction will only apply to one week and that is this coming week.”
Prof MacCraith said he was assured by the Chief Executive of Pfizer in a conference call this evening that the production of the vaccine will return to the normal schedule the following week, before being scaled up from the middle of next month.”
https://www.rte.ie/news/coronavirus/2021/0115/1190025-pfizer/
Only a week ?
The UK will have vaccinated two million people in that time – the equivalent of the entire Dublin metropolitan area.
His Master’s Voice has turned you into such a desperate apologist for the EU you’ve probably got a designated parking space at the Berlaymont.
Once again I do nothing more than supply some information that clears the smokescreen of your anti-EU, anti-Ireland garbage and you respond with ad hominem and jingoism.
And how many have died in the UK, how many cases are there?
Both figures are one of the worst in the world.
You really are some clown.
And you’re very quiet on Bozo’s popularity of late. You kept bleating on about how popular he was, until you stopped a few weeks ago. So I decided to take a look, and surprise surprise he now is -20%!!!!!!!
Calling RTE Calling RTE.
Here’s how your colleagues at a proper new organisation, ITN, are covering the vaccine shortage in Europe caused by EU incompetence.
THIS is what your Brussels Europe Editor should be doing instead of waiting for the next instructions from his EU handlers.
http://www.itv.com/news/2021-01-14/why-has-europe-been-so-slow-at-rolling-out-the-covid-vaccine

Poor Neill still isn’t the better of it
The expression “like a blood orange” has been used to describe a particular orifice (・o・)
And the Irish Times is finally dragged kicking and screaming into reporting the realities of Ireland’s vaccine shortage and the mortal danger it faces.
Such a shame it had to hid it behind a nom de plume.
It’s almost like they’re embarrassed to do their job…

Imagine how many tabs this loser has open. Discharge, you’re sad.
I’ve just seen another post of yours from earlier this morning clown man, and it just sums you up perfectly. You wrote “Such a shame it had to hid it behind a nom de plume.” For someone who claims to be English, and I don’t believe you are, your level of literacy is shocking. And I had a great laugh when you accused someone of hiding behind a nom de plume!! You are the greatest keyboard warrior/troll I have come across clown man! You haven’t the courage to put your real name to anything you write. Marvelous.

I’ve never ever understood the kissing and hugging orgy ritual in soccer that professional footballers (aped by all levels down to schools) initiate after they’re awarded any goal….even when it’s in a game they are already winning 4-0 with 85 mins gone…even in games of little consequence…even when the other side suffer an own goal
you don’t see it in any other team sport
always thought it’s completely ott panto nonsense
Because they love and need to be loved
Also that drop to the knees and slide; probably started when some guy tripped. Now they all follow like lemmings. It’s like the sandal scene from Life of Brian.
Is it the kissing & hugging that bothers you most or the fact they’re enjoying it? I’m not sure about every other sport but I’ve witnessed an orgy of tactile emotion amongst the supporters in many other sports that often put the players in the ha’penny place. And nobody gets hurt. Life’s too short.
Well the England cricket team gave each other a hug and a kiss a short while ago after finally taking a wicket out in Sri Lanka having toiled away in the heat and humidity since around 4.15 this morning.
Lovely ground at Galle, overlooked by the old colonial fort and just a few yards from the ocean.
And the Sri Lankans are wonderfully hospitable people particularly towards their old colonial masters.
Oh to be there now with a cold brewski.
Good to see The Irish Times listed here again by Broadsheet, and at the top of the list.
I really don’t understand why BS regularly put the “Irish” Daily Mail and also the “Irish” Mail on Sunday at the top. The Irish ones come first I presume, followed by the British and other ones if there are any.
Look at todays “Irish” Daily Mail. It has a splash of Paul McKenna (British hypnotist) taking up nearly half its front page and also Michael Mosely (British television producer) and his wife Clare Bailey (British author).
I havent heard of any of those 3 people. I had to Google to find out.
Why dont they have some Irish writers?
Their paper looks like one you would find in a shop if you were in middle England.
The December sales figures for all newspapers are out next Wednesday. In November the Irish Daily Mail was selling just over 21,000 Monday to Friday.
In the next few months that figure will be under 20000.
Irish people arent complete fools. The Irish Daily Mail was selling over 50000 not too long ago.
Tommy, we do them as they come in. The IT and Indo do not send us their covers and they are unavailable until early morning (as e-papers where we screengrab).
It’s a great service Bodger and, of course, one that is provided free of charge and requires someone to stay sober-ish all evening to provide.
Why anyone would complain about what order the papers appear in based on the nationality of the stories covered is genuinely beyond me.
But the words inferiority and complex spring to mind.
I’m pretty sure you have already explained this to Tommy yet every week he has a winge about it until he disappears until next week,
He has.
It’s a weekly ritual for Tommy.
That’s absolutely 100% Bodger, if you say that I have no reason to doubt you.
But I do feel the number of times that both the IDM and IMoS are at the top of the list is huge!
And from memory they are not always last or first in!
I am open to correction on that and trust you when you say you show no favouritism to a paper, that, if you consider it an Irish paper, I personally find laughable!
A person I work with used to get it so I would read through it at breaks in work and I found it extraordinary that most of the letters in the letters section came from England readers!
Apart from a few articles in the first few pages all of the content is from British writers.
And they still charge a premium price €1.80 and even more on Saturday €2!!
Cool story bro.
Ah so what
They still say the same stuff no matter where they appear in running order of the day is
First in last out – is decision mechanism used in 000s of business’s
And in this case, First in Bottom Up
Kinda
We take such feats for granted these days but one of the last great mountaineering challenges on Planet Earth has just been met.
A team of Nepalese climbers including former Gurkha soldier Nirmal Purjahas has completed the first winter ascent of deadly K2.

Fantastic courageous stuff.

Bet he’s looking forward to getting deployed somewhere to ‘liberate’ it and be cannon fodder post-Covid
“Conservative MP calls for nationwide rollout of vitamin D tablets to people at-risk from Covid-19 after a Spanish region sees 82% drop in deaths following supplement programme”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-9148549/Conservative-MP-calls-nationwide-rollout-vitamin-D-tablets.html
Yet more compelling evidence of how effective vitamin D supplementation can be in preventing severe Covid-19 illness among the most vulnerable. In a saner world, this would be being promoted as the best available solution towards greatly reducing the level of crisis as the virus reaches its endemic equilibrium. None of the new vaccines can claim to have produced results similar to the above; they lack long-term safety data unlike vitamin D supplements; vitamin D supplements are much cheaper to produce and not bound by patents, so why are our health authorities and government advocating for everyone, including those least at risk, to take these experimental vaccines?
…do you have any evidence, compelling or otherwise, on iodine tablets?
I think you need a hug
…it’s just we had a FFer TD which is as close as you’ll get to a Conservative MP who sent out Iodine tablets to the whole country…I still have them…maybe he was before his time…never had a hug from a ratlicker before…is it like a vampire thing?
If the Conservative MP is what grabs your attention in the article, then I’d suggest to you that you’re too politicised to make a fair judgement of it
This was Professor Rose Anne Kenny’s reaction yesterday to the results of the supplement program in Andalucia:
“Remarkable reduction in death rates in #Andalusia #COVID19BC after the local government introduced #Vitamin D supplements for all at risk including all in care homes. Similar observations in #Newcastle UK. @tilda_tcd @stjamesdublin @GeriSoc @YoungGeris @HSELive @roinnslainte”
She’s Professor of Medical Gerontology Trinity College and St James Hospital, and together with a team of experts has been campaigning for more government action to promote increased vitamin D intake by the Irish public.
Article from November:
https://www.imt.ie/news/promote-vitamin-d-intake-counter-covid-19-risk-experts-advise-27-11-2020/
‘Researchers call on the Irish Government to revise current guidelines regarding vitamin D intake
Most Irish adults need to increase their intake of vitamin D as “a matter of urgency” to reduce the spread of Covid-19, a group of medical experts from Irish universities has said’
They are now calling on the Irish Government to revise current guidelines regarding vitamin D intake.
“A majority of the Irish adult population have insufficient vitamin D intake and a very significant proportion across all age groups have low serum vitamin D levels,” they wrote.
“This should be addressed as a matter of urgency. Without vitamin D supplementation, the blood levels associated with protection against severe viral respiratory infection due to SARS-CoV-2 will not be achieved.”
They recommended that adults in Ireland should be supplemented with oral vitamin D3 at 20-25 μg/day (800–1000 IU/day) for the duration of this pandemic.’
…how did those tests go on the other remedies you’ve recommended on here…I’m thinking in particular the one President Trump swore by…
It’s like having trying to have a dialogue with a petulant teenager.
I’ve never recommended HCQ and I’d challenge you to point out where I have.
Back in summer, a major scandal within the medical establishment was exposed where both the Lancet and the NEJM were forced to retract fraudulent studies that they had published. The WHO was implicated in the scandal too.
What it exposed was Big Pharma’s overarching and corrupting influence over medical science in order to suppress any potential threats to their projected future profits from the Covid vaccines that were under development. This is the story I took an interest in. Whether HCQ was effective or not is incidental to that story.
I found the thread, started by Millie where the story first came up. You come out looking pretty foolish and I don’t think you’ve ever quite gotten over that ;)

14,100,000 paid for 1,000 ventilators. 14,100 per ventilator, where a hospital grade ventilator costs 20,000+. Two specific units flown in, tested and ‘passed’. Due diligence on the part of the HSE identified that the units had no CE mark and this was a serious concern. The seller, a media company operating out of an apartment. The mind boggles.
Bunch of fuppin cowboys.
And the millions spent on substandard hand wash…again supplied by a company with a track record miles away from health.

No sign of a refund from either. How do they get to know of these contracts?
Wasn’t there some building company or other in Ennis also on the preferred suppliers list for PPE… courtesy of Alan Kelly.
Divvying up the spoils.
Correct, Eko, a small business who bought PPE from China.. Outsourced the supply of sub par PPE at an over inflated price.
How in the name of God do I get one of these contracts.. I could buy PPE from Alibaba and sell it on to the HSE.
Where’s the accountability?
No accountability. But venture outside 5km and you can be slapped with a fine.

Entertaining and depressing in equal measure: ‘The 15 most notable lies of Donald Trump’s presidency’
https://edition.cnn.com/2021/01/16/politics/fact-check-dale-top-15-donald-trump-lies/index.html
‘It rained during Trump’s inaugural address. Then, at a celebratory ball later that day, Trump told the crowd that the rain “just never came” until he finished talking and went inside, at which point “it poured.” This was the first lie of Trump’s presidency. Like his lies that same week about his inauguration crowd, it hinted at what would come next. The President would say things that we could see with our own eyes were not true. And he would often do this brazen lying for no apparent strategic reason.’

…it’s like a quiz question…here’s another…can you name the eight countries bombed during Joe Bidens last stint in the White House?
Can you name the countries bombed by Trump?
Can you name the towns and villages bombed by Assad/Putin?
Didn’t trump pass a law that meant that drone bombing deaths could be kept secret?
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-47480207
“There have been 2,243 drone strikes in the **first two years** of the Trump presidency, compared with 1,878 in Mr Obama’s **eight** years in office, according to the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, a UK-based think tank.”

Trump just bombed the old ones and Putin/Assad’s atrocities were justified by Putin/Assad propaganda. Cool, cool.
Nigel clearly disappointed the Wahhabist headchoppers didn’t take Damascus. Nigel, can you tell us why you support religious extremists violently taking control of a country? Russia didn’t intervene until September 2015 when Assad’s forces were up against the wall. The US led illegal regime change using proxy forces began in March 2011. Had Russia not intervened, Syria would have fallen to a ragtag of competing extremist groups backed by the West and Gulf States.
See? All the atrocities totally justified!

Speaking of fake news
‘After receiving legal letter, conservative outlet American Thinker has issued an incredible statement admitting it published “completely false” info on Dominion that had “no basis in fact.” It apologizes to readers for “abandoning” journalistic principles.’

Ah now hould up there Nidgie
There’s a strong risk of the big deep pockets pushing people around there
And I don’t like that one bit
Happens far too often because they can, no matter what
So there’s every reason to be wary, no matter who
Entirely agree, but I don’t think this is a case of a brave truth-teller being silenced by big money.
Perhaps
But there is nothing to be gained by Dominion here
Financially anyway
Petty cash stuff – if even that
Let them make their point
And stop doing the big.i.am
In which a Guardian hack with an unhealthy lifstyle and a family history of cardiac problems blames Brexit for giving him a heart attack while out running.
They’re scraping the barrel now …

For anyone interested in the actual story about how the EU went about acquiring and distributing the vaccines this is an excellent run down on the story by The Irish Time’s Europe Correspondent Naomi Long.
https://podcasts.apple.com/ie/podcast/the-irish-times-world-view-podcast/id813704540?i=1000505374952
It’s Naomi O’Leary.
Naomi Long is the leader of the Alliance Party in NI.
This is true.
Other than that, any comment on what she had to say? Not quite the picture you’ve been painting.
Good luck with himself answering anything.
Empty vessels make the most noise.
I’ve never listened to a podcast in my life Begorrah.
But if what she says is so good why isn’t it in the paper that pays her wages instead ?
I prefer proper investigative journalism like the extensive coverage of the vaccine acquisition in the mass-circulation German newspaper Bild rather than the late-night ramblings of some second rate hack whose work never made the cut in the morning editorial conference.
LOL! If only you had embraced modern media you might have realised that the podcast interview is based on what was published in her column in the paper. Instead you’ve exposed your own ignorance. Again. You moan about what the Irish Times doesn’t report but how would you know when you clearly don’t even read the paper? Pontificating from a position of ignorance as usual.
