the missus was in M&S Blanchardstown the other day and said they had the freezer cabinets packed with crisps to make it look like there was something there…a better look than bare shelves I suppose!
No shortage of Bombay Sapphire.
I’ve just unleashed the first of the day.
A tad early I know but with the weather as it is there’s not much to do except imbibe and fire up a combustible while I sit back, relax and plan foreign sojourns for later in the year.
Marvellous.
Fire up the bedpan more like..
M&S is for idiots. It’s already expensive before the Irish idiot tax is applied and that was before brexit. The prices will go up and Irish idiots will pay it.
Whoa, whoa, whoa there.. €14 for a bottle of wine, millionaire shortbread desert, lasagne and chips… I’ll be an idiot all day long
But… what about their
Embroidered Mesh High Leg Knickers
Product code: T817727L
(I think they’re called)
Too right Bertie.
Awesome undies.
Noooooo
Far too sensible
And IMO over priced
Ann Summers for the everyday doesn’t matter what happens in the laundry stuff
Victoria’s Secret for the fancy stuff you keep special in a special drawer
And DKNY for the days there’s the possibility of after work ‘you never know’ do (◠‿◕)
We shall agree to disagree V.
Though you’re right on the DKNY; I always stock up when I cross the pond.
prefer Aubade myself ;)
we’re probably going to need some photos to make a call on this

Somebody text Millie…..
“Well. We’re in the… In the….. OH GOD…. WE’RE IN LINGERIE….”
you know well that’s not what I meant
Stop it Bertie, you’re setting the bar too high for the rest of us.
“Are you not entertained?”
I am
Second best (priest..!!)
Hummus appears to be the latest gourmet victim in M&S and other stores.
Recommend making it from scratch – far nicer, and really easy to whiz up.
Beat the supermarket chains!
(That’s not how you start the recipe).
absolutely
NEVER BUY HUMMUS
especially from a certain pear
over priced watery muck
all the others taste more like the plastic carton it comes in
and btw, you can now get tins of curried chic peas up in the Asian Supermarket
Give yerselves a bit of a change from the usual one
more hot than spicy a kinda solid cumin’esq to it
although the recipe for hummus in that pair’s book is excellent – especially the one for beetroot hummus
You don’t need a recipe
just ingredients
1 tin chick peas (drained and rinsed) to every good tablespoon of Tahini
dollop of Olive Oil, – depends really on how runny you want it
spoon of Minced Garlic, good glug of Lemon Juice
Have at it with the blender
Swap the Garlic out for other stuff, like Cumin
Or a nice squeeze of Harrissa
as long as you stick to the 1 tin of peas to 1 tbls of Tahini
you can mess around with it as much as you like
I always use the juice of a lemon as well no matter what I’m throwing in to it – that’s just me
tip. don’t make it runny – it will last longer, and go further if its more solid – like grout ⊙.☉
ping that beetroot one there to me Brother
and let me take a gander
ta, V
Some of those jarred charred bell peppers from Aldi are a tasty addition too. Within or on the top.
Are you near any of the Polski supermarkets Redundo?
Well if you are, they’ll have the big 5 kgs jars of bell peppers
they might be in the Russian section but do take your time in there
you should have change from a fiver
I remember thinking to myself that the jar on its own was worth the fiver
2 cloves garlic, 400g chickpeas, juice of 1 lemon, pinch black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin, 3 tablespoons of water, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 medium beetroot (c. 175g)
scrub but dont peel the beetroot – cut into pieces and roast with bit of salt and oil. Leave it until a bit charred.
throw the whole lot into blender
Blended that up last evening Brother
only change is I left out the water, and halved the dose of Olive oil
Yep, I’ll be doing it again
and the recipe definitely doesn’t need that amount of liquid or oil
there’s plenty oil in the Tahini anyway
And those roasted beetroot wedges were an additional treat
I’ll be doing those again as well
ohhh I’ll be throwing in a touch of cumin !
I usually go for few pine nuts across the top
+1 on the pear… how does a vegan fup up hummus? Quite an achievement. It’s a bit of a “you had one job” scenario
totally agree, takes less than five minutes to whip up,
I use a good olive oil, tin of chick peas, squeeze fresh lemon, touch of tahini, salt, wack in blender, basta !
Keep mine simple and pretty trad. Buy my chickpeas from the Asian stores and make the stuff weekly. I kinda live on the stuff during the week. Good shaking of sumac on top is all it needs and bliss.
Tesco now also seem to be starting to have issues in certain lines…and not limited to the “posher” items, last week or so
anything beyond basic milk, butter and cheddar? forget it
plenty of meats also missing
I vaguely remember yer wan from the Farmers Journal talking to Moncrieff a couple of years back and predicting that….’tis interesting to see
yep tesco is looking well scruffy
Third pic down is Tesco, not Marks.
Probably have the same Brexit problems though.
Could be worse, could be in the North
The occupied 6 counties, CE ?
That’s all the foodstuffs you millennials require right there. Gin as well, no doubt.
These are not just empty shelves, these are M&S empty shelves with free range, organic, fresh air particles, containing locally sourced nitrogen combined with a generous supply of oxygen.
Go to Lidl or Aldi and stop paying the Paddy Tax to those Brit outfits.
Yes, buy all those Lidl and Aldi items that are made in the UK.
And then pay the Paddy Tax to the Germans instead.
Doh !
Are there no Lidl or Aldi stores in UK clown man?
