“I have never seen a situation so dismal that a policeman couldn’t make it worse.”

Drink can be an awful curse for some people and how some kids suffer because of it.

Nice wall art all the same.

brilliant. good idea to get a pic before the council paint over it. the best way to protect wall art from the councils paint rollers is to write “endorsed by Bartra group” at the bottom

    i interpret it as anti-alcohol.

He looks dishevelled, a double chin, unironed shirt and giving the glass a look of disgust. Is the beer interferring with his writing.

normally beer ads have a young fit healthy looking man, dressed well, in the company of women having a good time.

Perhaps, but I understand that his family really don’t like depictions of him holding a glass (which is understandable enough – I doubt that Jim Morrison’s family like murals of him featuring a bag of heroin)

“If the English hoard words like misers, the Irish spend them like sailors; and Brendan Behan … sends language out on a swaggering spree, ribald, flushed, and spoiling for a fight” – Kenneth Tynan

For anyone interested in Behan, Michael O’Sullivan’s biography is a great read. As is Ulick O’Connor’s.
