March For Freedom

at

Dublin Airport at the weekend

This morning.

“Travellers are coming down very significantly. It’s down to quite low levels now in the last weekend.

“The majority would appear to be Irish people who went to went on holidays during the Christmas period … we need to clamp down on that.

“That is in itself a violation of the Level 5 regulations that we have in place.”

Taoiseach Micheál Martin announcing Level 5 will continue to March 5

Hardly needs to be said but should have been done 6 months ago. Government dragging their heels, I expect more typical Irish half-measures relying on the good faith of travellers to isolate rather than actually closing the borders. Sensible nations like New Zealand proved it works, maybe we wouldn’t have had these worse strains to begin with. The amount of older baseball-capped American tourists I saw about town over the summer, in the empty streets they stand out a mile – if they felt it acceptable to travel abroad how well do you think they followed protocols? Probably don’t believe in coronavirus to begin with.

        Woah…nice comment…
However I’d actually take my chances to be honest, whats the fatality rate again?

…and on the flip side, 5 people I know closely have had it and 3 of them are still suffering. Barely able to get out of bed, out of breath all the time, heart and circulation problems and these are not old people.

In further circles of mine people have died but I’m not going to talk about that. People who are largely unaffected by it seem to think it’s grand but once someone becomes seriously ill or dies, then it’s something to be cared about. A young persons outlook and a selfish one.

I know what you mean Paul.

One of my pals is playing the “long Covid” thing too.

This is his third week off work the jammy fecker.

He’s starting to feel a bit guilty, but the doctor keeps telling him that he’s not over it yet (over the phone of course)

            That’s a lovely sentiment, Micko.

Reminds me of the time one of my friends told me the daily panic attacks I’d been having were just me ‘over-reacting’.

Just as well I didn’t listen to her and spoke to a doctor instead and was treated for PND.

Think you’re getting the wrong end o the stick with what I’m saying Mille.

My friend knows well what he’s doing. He was just about over Covid when he went for his test. Mandatory two weeks off from the doc.

He’s now gone into his third. He’s bulletproof. Covid can’t be questioned

We joke about it most days.

And sorry to hear you’ve suffered from that. :)

Totally picked you up wrong, Micko. I think we all know one lad/lady chancer like that. Thought you were implying something totally different

            Apologies for that!

even with something as international as travel.. he still blames us. I highly doubt Irish people were going “on holidays” abroad. As an FFer he can’t even nearly bring himself to put any blame on precious tourists. They’d pave the roads with our bodies if they thought tourists would like it.

by the way.. it’s nearly a FULL YEAR and they’re still “in talks” about border travel. FF have form with being comfortable with blood on their hands.

Those were not Irish returning from holiday. Brazilian people returning from holiday to work – in meat plants most likely. And outbreaks in meat plants over the past week. Which strain?

Instead of telling us what ‘might’, ‘probably’, ‘looking at’ etc. that’s being ‘considered’, maybe get the finger out and bring in the measures now instead of piddling around. 10 Months is long enough.

Looks like our vaccine will be in the form of text message for the moment.

Typical pro business profit before people response from Mehole and his FFFGGP cronies. Deflect and attack and fine the holiday goers ( the government confused many with conflicting and confusing lockdown/travel info) instead of the tourist companies/airlines responsible for advertising and selling the flights.
