Chargerās Vax Factā¢ #40
The UK administered 312,770 doses yesterday taking its accumulative total to 7,638,543.
Irelandās official total of 143,000 has remained unchanged since yesterday.
Earlier this month when Chargerās Vax Factsā¢ was launched and I started warning of the serious errors the EU had made over vaccines I was dismissed as jingoistic and told the EU had saved money on what it paid for the various jabs.
The full extent of that incompetence is now unfolding.
And the reek of panic coming from the Berlaymont is palpable as the European media, with the glaring exception of Irelandās loyal hacks, looking for answers.
Weāre now at the ludicrous stage of the EU demanding the UK hand over its supplies of a vaccine the EU has yet to authorise in order to make up its own shortfall in doses that have yet to be shipped.
Decisions were made at the beginning of last summer with precisely this scenario in mind.
Oxford University was originally in talks with German company Merck to produce the vaccine but fearing Donald Trump would attempt to hoover up the worldās supplies Health Secretary Matt Hancock requested a written assurance that the UK would get first refusal on vaccines.
When this was not forthcoming the UK instead signed up with UK-headquartered AstraZeneca which did provide that agreement.
The EU on the other hand prevaricated for three months over the price of a vaccine that is being sold to everyone for the same cost price anyway.

Good evening Charger Salmons/Admiral Nelson, etc. So another 1,725 deaths today in the UK, bringing the total to almost 102,000. This figure doesn’t seem to bother you? UK remains the 5th highest on deaths per million out of 221 countries worldwide. Something Bozo should be proud of? And the cases rate isn’t much better.
Both deaths and cases rates are substantially higher in UK compared to Ireland. But Bozo 1% ahead in the polls, that’s much more important.
Marvelous.

Joe F – the most prolific single-issue commenter in the history of the internet – winner!
Joe F – the most predictable commenter in the history of the internet – winner!
I could go on, Joe F…..
Take a bow, Joe F.
Appreciate it. (doing my best Donald Trump impression there)
74 million people can’t be wrong, right?
Taken graciously, Joe F, credit for that!
74 million were wrong. 74 million are wrong and will always be wrong. Your orange fruitcake hero will never run again. 81 million were and are right. God bless āMerica and god bless democracy.
How refreshing it is now to wake up every day and not have to read or listen to the incessant antics of that egotistical subhuman scrote.
Benblack, Kate, Bitnboxy, Charger are all one and the same. When the mothership, which is Charger, doesn’t want to reply to someone he claims to have on his ignore list, he uses the other aliases. The VPN doesn’t hide everything .
I was particularly proud of coming up with Kate.
Everyone seems to panic a bit when confronted with a laydee.
Especially one from County Cork which adds a nice touch of regionality.
Chalk it down boi.
@Mick- Oh no! Busted – well done Sherlock! Guffaw.
Get with it. It’s actually Boxy and GiggidyGoo who are one and the same! At the moment the Goo-Bot is trying their best to ignore me but that is just a ruse to fool you all…
Mental issues there my friend. There’s more to life than Giggidy Goo. Have it seen to would be my advice
RTE’s brown noser-in-chief at the EU Toady Connelly is not the only Brussels-based hack suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.
Over at the equally biased BBC you can always rely on their Europe editor Katya Adler to contest the crowded buttocks space with Toady.
This morning she’s accused Boris of ‘ berating ‘ the EU over vaccines.
Quite extraordinary.
The partisan hackery of these EU lackeys on show during Brexit is getting a second airing over vaccines.
https://mobile.twitter.com/BBCkatyaadler/status/1354713420197732358
Quite extraordinary how you can use the word “biased” when posting here Admiral. You have a PhD in it. You just are incapable of writing anything negative about Bozo. I can also include Trump with Bozo. It’s hard to take anyone seriously when they have such black and white opinions on certain subjects. Bozo can do no wrong. When glaring facts are visible, you just pretend they don’t exist.
By the way, in answer to someone else, I’m working from home so don’t have to be in the office, hence more time to follow this clown around.
Marvelous.
Some very positive vaccine news coming out of Israel where their Health Ministry has reported only 31 new Covid cases among 163,000 people who had their second Pfizer dose 16 or more days ago.
None of the cases were serious or required hospitalisation.
How many new cases were there yesterday in the UK Admiral? And how many deaths were there in the UK yesterday? You seem very fond of focusing on one aspect of the whole pandemic, so cases and deaths don’t count to you Mr Nelson?
At the risk of upsetting a few sensitive souls I think it’s about time we had a bit of Sir Nigel of Farage saying ” I told you do.”
Which he certainly did.
Often and loudly.
https://mobile.twitter.com/Nigel_Farage/status/1354729470377271298
Poor Nigel can see the downsides of Brexit now. Complaining about a driver having his ham sandwich taken off him and begging for the UK Financial services to have access to the European Market etc. (Missed those bits eh – it’s in the link you posted).
Big swinging mickey starts his video much the same as yourself CS- but as it goes on you notice that the realization of Brexit is dawning on him. ‘Pleeeeze Mr. EU, allow our Financial Services sector access…pleeezzzzeee’. ‘Pleeeeze let our trucks move like before, pleeezzzze’
ROFL
Great to watch a slime like him trying to row back, and begging. The ordinary UK folk I have a lot of pity for.
Funny how you use “Sir” when posting about Mr Farage. Yet you never use “Sir” when you post (regularly) about Labour leader Keir Starmer. Just another example of your biased little mind old boy. That’s the problem with the old class system. Feck it anyway, I wish we had it here. Would you agree Admiral?

Guilty as charged… was part of the Reddit short…. was class…
Was part? Don’t tell me you paper handed ? This is only the beginning, short float is still around 140%
To see the hedgies complain about market manipulation by a bunch of retail investors is possibly the most beautiful and ironic thing I’ve ever seen.
See you in Valhalla!!!!!
and
– Nokia (love it, I still have a 6310 as my non work phone)
– Koss (still remember their orangey sponges, my first pair of proper headphones, they’ll probably get trendy again soon lol)
will be interesting to see what moves the SEC try now as it gathers pace and spoils the soup
are the redditors doing right? are they doing wrong? will it crash the whole show? bitcoin fupped? is it really just kids playing out a virtual version of occupy wall street to get their college loans back or is it just yet another sophisticated scam coordinated by some .01% ers?
now that I’ve run out of stuff to watch on netflix this is the best show in town
stock market is some cesspit
Ya think ?
I’ve had rather a good run of it over the last few months and a global pandemic has thrown up quite a few tasty morsels, particularly in the America tech stocks.
Although I did ride the bumpy coat tails of some travel stocks too – there were some absolute bargains in the weeks after the March slump.
Easyjet in particularly has gone through some enjoyable turbulence.
Fortune favours the brave
mon cheri although Tesla is due a shellacking soon.
Greed is good.
Marvellous.

“are the redditors doing right? are they doing wrong? will it crash the whole show? ”
Taking millions of dollars off the corrupt short selling Billionaire class in America is one of the most beautiful moments the internet has given us! These Reddit traders are heroes! Exposing the corruption within the system.
Now Wall st is asking for regulations!!!??? NOW? They never asked for more regulations as they tanked the worlds economy in 2008. Insipid scum.
Iāve played with crypto for years and unless it crashes to double digits, itāll never fail me. With the amount of legacy funds and investors buying into, I see more growth. I also play a bit with mostly tech stock and that does nicely. Tend to focus on dominant businesses with a solid portfolio of IP.
@Rosette
Do you have training in stock trading? I’ve always wanted to try but I’m only learning about it. So I’m not going to risk entering into something I really don’t have technical knowledge of, but I like learning about how people use strategies like this. So you were in the reddit trading group?
Broad index tracking ETFs are the best way to jump in. You just buy the S&P500.
I highly recommend A Random Walk Down Wall Street. It will teach you the jargon.
yep Junkface
their ingenuity and motivations are to be applauded. it’s amazing to me how half these fund lads aren’t in prison for the things they’ve done
I know half of UCD are in on it (which says to me that it’ll be throughout the entire population) but some only now entering due to fomo so I just hope they don’t end up as bagholders
did you see the sly FT opinion hit piece yet? a very lame attempt to link all of this to “alt-right” but you can see the weaponry Goliath has at it’s disposal…

I expect a lot of dirty tricks between now and the weekend
@Junkface. Yeah. I joined the WSB group ages ago. No, I never had ‘professional’ training per se. I did however have a father who traded a bit in his day and his advice was to a: diversify as best as you can and b: don’t expose your investments to an industry you are not familiar with. I know tech – I really know tech so that’s where I tend to invest. A bit of BioTech too. As mentioned, where there is a demonstrated portfolio of top IP and investment in innovation and research. Bio is a bit riskier for me but have had some success with Gilead for example.
Stock trading is a gamble for sure – especially with shorting and lots of other market manipulations the institutional get up to. Don’t bet what you can’t afford to lose is a truism to live by.
@Rosette
Fair play to you! I would like to buy you a pint (somehow). This really does remind me of the promise of the internet back in the late 90’s early 2000’s. When we share knowledge and information through free online education and video tutorials, we can make a more equal world. The wealth gap is one of the biggest problems facing the world, as the super wealthy create a lot of environmental destruction. All of the Reddit traders are to be applauded. :)
Am a member of the sub WSB where it was planned – now locked. I bought last Thursday. I really dislike the short game and this was a lot of fun messing with them. I played with Game Stop. Interestingly thereās an awful lot of shorts due this week so thereās a lot of parasitic Hedges up for a whole world of pain.
That’s very interesting RoS! I have only a bare bones understanding of the stock market and investment (maths and economics were always my weak subjects) so it’d be really interesting if you could explain a bit of what’s happening?
In short (heh), a number of hedge funds attempted to short Game Stop – they ‘borrowed’* stock in an attempt to drive the price down. A bunch of Redditors noticed this was happening (it’s reported publicly) and decided to BUY as many publicly available shares as we could. This is called a Short Squeeze and it drives the price up and, leaves those Hedges who borrowed with a huge hole in their plan. To the tune of billions.
*Short selling allows an investor to profit when the price of a share drops. Short sellers borrow a stock from most likely a large institutional lender or the very biggest investment firms** (note, not borrow to buy the stock), sell the stock, and then buy the stock back to return it to the lender.
**By the way, those guys win big here…. But it’s worth it.
The feds are all over this now and will be interesting to see how the SEC deals with this under a new administration.
Thanks for that Rosette. Sounds like dodgy dealings on the part of the hedge funds. It’ll be interesting to see where this leads.
There’s a real sort of Robin Hood feel to this story… Or is it just me?
Also, does this sort of massaging or interference have any illegality attached to it, do you know? I mean, on the part of the hedge funds.
millie
there’s a great movie with a stellar cast on the netflix machine, def worth a couple of hours:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_Short_(film)
The Big Short is a must see movie and is hilarious and terrifying in equal measures. And, it’s still going on today. Why? It’s legal. Not fully sure about what I got up to mind you given it was a coordinated attempt to manipulate the market – which it was. But then, all I saw was a hot stock on the rise and bought in.
any chance youd write up a long account of it, rosette? like from how it kicked off etc
also, was there one particular person coordinating or organising it ?
What an amazing story! Taking on the super wealthy at their corrupt game on Wall street. This will change financing! Watch how the super wealthy turn the screws on Biden and the US Gov’t, they want to walk off with their ball. Everyone knows Wall st owns the US Gov’t. Now that this method has been reported, normal people (reddit traders) all over the world can really hurt the billionaire class and take some money back. Amazing!
For anyone who admires great sports writing which is not of the ā it was a game of two halves Gary ā variety I really recommend this piece by Dave Hannigan in todayās Irish times.
Facts and razor-sharp observations flowing in perfect harmony.
Clearly a man who has witnessed the behaviour of the Notorious at close quarters.

I used to do a bit of the old man-to-man marking back in the day when I used to play basketball old boy. A bit rusty but getting into the hang of it again. Anyway Admiral, I just said I’d let you know of the latest approval ratings for your hero Bozo. It shows him losing his seat in the next GE, if one was to be held now. His approval ratings are -20%. I thought you were supposed to be updating us all on these very important “facts”?
Marvelous.
Coveney returns from New York briefing to inform echo – and the people of Ireland – that Zero-Covid has been dismissed.
He’s been reliably informed.
Dr. Holohan was not his plus one on the trip.
He(Dr. Holohan) is deciding if he will take additional compassionate leave to further his reeducation.
Echo, Evening Echo!
remember when we were getting 6 cases per day? yea. would’ve been easy to reach zero covid from there.
Your regular reminder that social media and online commentary isn’t real life as we know it.
‘In the UK which of the following do you hold most responsible for the rise in coronavirus cases ? ‘
The general public: 53%
The government: 33%

I’m very disappointed Mr Nelson that you haven’t found the “facts” I asked you for. Oh dear, what a shame. Fortunately, I stumbled across them! Bozo -20% in approval ratings. That’s a bit of a change from the figures you were regularly updating us with. You must have forgot to post the new ones.
Marvelous.
It can be tough for many people at a time like this.
I’ve had a feller decorating my house for the past fortnight. In between the undercoat and matt vinyl I got chatting to him and it turns out he is a Ryanair pilot on furlough.
Sad times but in fairness he did a great job on the landing.
Wahaay !
Just wondering why you are so fond of the vaccination figures Admiral Nelson, and not the cases or death rates. Any particular reason for that old sport? And in a similar way, any reason why you just mentioned that Bozo was 1% ahead (Tories vs Labour) but failed to mention his approval ratings. I’m racking my brains and can’t come up with anything. You might enlighten me?
Marvelous.
Could you not post an original joke. That one’s as old as the hills.
https://twitter.com/repeal_shield/status/1354126566666752005?s=19
B1117 UK variant of Covid is a complete and utter bastard.
But what else would you expect from the country that produced Carry On Charger?
Spare a thought today for our brothers and sisters in Portugal.
They are likely to be hit worse than Italy last year for covid deaths.
Thanks to B1117.
Also, the EU really did fork it up!
This level of ineptitude would be impressive if it wasn’t so serious.
Dr. John Campbell gives an excellent update below for those interested.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrTvpBUdmHI&ab_channel=Dr.JohnCampbell
The UK and US have invested seven times as much money per capita than the EU in pushing for a vaccine breakthrough and are now reaping the rewards.
German and French scientists in particular have failed miserably.
The EU approached the vaccine programme in the same way it tackled Brexit – slow, bureaucratically and penny pinching, forgetting that speed is of the essence in pandemic.
They’re paying the price now but just think of the longer term damage to the Commission’s reputation.
Any chance of you stating the rates of death for the UK Mr Nelson? You seem fixated on one topic. I wonder why? What are the death rates from the virus in the UK? How does it compare to other countries in the world Admiral? You seem very good at getting certain statistics so could you please list the ones for deaths and cases also. Merci. Or would that embarrass you?
Marvelous.
Do you have a job, Joe?
One that doesn’t involve haunting Charger, I mean.
Ugh. Much as I hate to agree with you on this, I think you’ve hit nail on the head there. The EU have not covered themselves in glory here at all. It’s embarrassing.
Millie – I highlighted the mounting concern elsewhere over the EU’s vaccine programme weeks ago.
Obviously there was the usual abuse incoming and I was told to stop boring on.
But what concerned me was the total lack of questioning in the Irish media about it.
This is not just a political argument but one about real Irish lives that will be lost because of EU incompetence just as the Kent variant is sweeping through the country.
The tragic thing is those who made the errors are unelectable so can’t lose their jobs.
And even if MEPs want to hold them to account there is nothing they can do.
It is EXACTLY the reason why the UK voted for Brexit.
Oh you’re awful sensitive Admiral. If you stop posting your biased nonsense I will stop replying to you. It’s as simple as that. I apologise to the other readers here. But you are not a nice person, quite nasty actually. You said last night old boy, that you wouldn’t post any racist comments. A few weeks ago, you said most of the crime in the UK was carried out by blacks and immigrants. Your words, not mine, check the history if you want. Disgusting remarks.
So as long as you continue with your Little Englander mentality old boy, you have a shadow. If I get booted off Broadsheet with you I will gladly accept one for the team. You’re quite a nasty piece of work old sport. You were kicked off another site Admiral Nelson?
Marvelous.
Millie, make yerself a coffee and have a read.
https://www.politico.eu/article/europe-coronavirus-vaccine-struggle-pfizer-biontech-astrazeneca/
Cheers Otis, certainly will do. Sure it’s certainly that time of the day ;)
…did I miss the announcement that the Astro Zennaca vaccine has even been approved at this stage…a shrewd commenter on Broadsheet doubts that it will get approval…the distribution of the tiny amount of vaccine so far available here has been disgraceful…already who you know seems to be the most reliable path to get vaccinated…anybody believe that more than 5 doses per vial will be declared…
Expected to be approved by the EMA tomorrow.
It’ll be interesting to see whether they give partial approval for everyone under the age of 65 or 70.
Fewer of that age group were tested in clinical trials for the obvious reason that finding healthy 70+ types with no underlying health conditions isn’t easy.
China in your hand old sport ?
Why do the fellas who try to break up fights always get killed? The poor young fella on the cover of The Sun. What a terrible waste of life. He was only trying to stop someone’s bike getting stolen. A brave lad. Very, very sad. RIP
