The UK is now vaccinating 3 MILLION people a week which is a massive achievement in such a short space of time. The total number of doses delivered now stands at 10,992,444.
Ireland’s official total has been updated to 219,200 or 4.40%. of the population. In Northern Ireland it’s 14.35% .
One other stat to illustrate man’s extraordinary achievements with this virus – it took a year to reach 100 million confirmed Covid-19 cases worldwide.
It’s taken just six weeks to give 100 million people a dose of the vaccine.

Poor Napoleon Macron.
Last year a French startup company wanted finance for its new vaccine called Valneva.
Macron’s government ummed and aah’d refusing to make a commitment.
The UK weighed in with €96million. In October this year Blighty will begin to receive 100million doses manufactured in Scotland while the French must wait a year.
Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

Well said Kate, very balanced point as always.

Meanwhile, Sanofi which is France’s national leader when it comes to vaccines and one of the world’s biggest vaccine makers, confirms that it won’t get its Covid-19 shot to market until towards the end of the year.

It’s funny Admiral, how you posted two days ago, that the number of cases in the UK had fallen significantly. Nothing today or yesterday from you on that front, they’ve increased both days surprisingly.
Nothing either from you on how the UK is doing when deaths are counted. Another 915 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 110,250. For some reason, this statistic doesn’t seem to bother you Kate. For someone so prolific in posting, you’ve never brought up that once. But you brought up a poll today that showed the Tories ahead of Labour. That’s all that counts for you isn’t it?
Marvelous.

It’s selective posting – accentuate the positive, ignore the negative and most importantly of all blow that priapic Brexit horn ! A flugelhorn I believe, favoured as it is by the Teutonic.

Jolly spiffing read , Charger!! Bigly marvellous!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! You crack me up Charger Salmons/Admiral Nelson/Kate etc etc etc
Be careful not to upset yourself when you are replying to yourself Kate. You seem very touchy of late.
Marvelous x 10.

Marvellous indeed Kate.
It’s a wonderful story of decisive decisions and fortuitous forward planning which is paying big dividends now.
But it begs the question – there’s already talk of Greece working on vaccine passports to open up their tourist season this summer and other countries will follow suit.Shouldn’t Ireland be doing the same thing to try to rescue the 2021 season ? We hear nothing except doom-mongering from this government and a refusal to contemplate buying excess vaccine doses as other EU countries such as Germany are currently doing.
Time to be bold and proactive.

As a friend of mine once told me Kate, it’s OK to talk to yourself from time to time, but when you start answering back to your own questions is when you should start getting worried.
Marvelous.

He’s got quite the turn of phrase. Not a fan of Harry Maguire, I’d say.
“ a slaloming run past the Harry Maguire-shaped carved mahogany armoire at the heart of United’s defence, before running 70 yards to apply the finish.”
“Harry Maguire has many qualities as a defender but he also turns like a waterlogged fishing dinghy and runs toward his own goal with all the easy grace of a heavily laden suburban milk float.”

I’m not averse to giving the Gardai a kicking when they mess up but fair play to them about that lady, Una Ring down in Cork.
The sentence of course is quite light but that’s another matter.

Just read that, sounds like she went through a horrific ordeal. Tidying her house every night before bed so it would be presentable for the crime scene investigation team. Wow. Excellent work by the guards staking out the scene every night, waiting for him to show up.
RIP Christopher Plummer.
Never quite one of the greats, probably because he chose to appear in so many turkeys.
Not least the rubbish Lady Charger and I watched last night where he played John Paul Getty.
Even with Ridley Scott directing and Mark Whalberg in it the movie was a stinker.
Village hall-grade acting with a script written by a dyslexic baboon.
